    Felt at home, excellent amenities

I moved to La Siena and quickly felt at home. The staff - including director Jonathan - are warm, attentive, and remember names; the resort-style apartments with balconies, excellent restaurant-style dining, on-site therapy and spa, and a full activities calendar (pool, exercise classes, happy hours, movies, lectures) make daily life easy. I've made friends, feel well cared for, and am very glad I chose this community.

    Summary of reviews

La Siena presents as an upscale, resort‑style senior living community with a broad set of amenities and an active social calendar. The campus and interiors are frequently described as well maintained and attractively appointed; reviewers commonly cited a large library, pool and jacuzzi, fitness areas, theater, salon, multiple dining venues and a variety of apartment floor plans with full kitchens and outdoor space. Many families and residents emphasize a lively, social atmosphere and a strong array of programmed activities (exercise classes, music, happy hours, outings), as well as transportation and on‑site therapy services.

Staff and leadership are generally viewed as a strength. Numerous accounts highlight warm, personable caregivers, visible and responsive administrative leaders, engaged activity directors, and a maintenance and housekeeping team that keeps the community in good order. Several reviewers specifically praised individual staff members and the admissions/tour experience. There are also references to 24‑hour nursing availability and on‑site therapists, which some families found reassuring.

At the same time, a pattern of operational inconsistencies emerges across the reviews. Dining receives mixed feedback: while many describe restaurant‑style meals and an excellent chef at times, other reviewers report declining or inconsistent food quality, limitations accommodating special diets, and service problems. Care operations also show variability; concerns include delays in responding to emergency pendants and call buttons, uneven assistance with activities of daily living (bathing, transfers, laundry), and weaknesses in medication‑management and clinical follow‑up. A subset of families described the need to supplement facility staff with private caregivers to meet individualized needs.

Safety and clinical scope are additional considerations. Some comments suggest opportunities to strengthen transfer and fall‑prevention practices and to improve safety equipment and accessibility in a few units. Prospective residents with escalating medical needs should note that the community is limited in higher‑acuity/skilled‑nursing capacity (level limitations were mentioned), so future transitions to higher levels of care may be necessary and should be clarified in advance.

Management, policy and cost issues appear as recurring themes. While leadership is often praised for being approachable, there are also reports of inconsistent communication and slow complaint resolution in some cases. Financial concerns include rising monthly fees, nonrefundable deposits or move‑out restrictions and extra miscellaneous charges; clarity about fees, refund policies and escalation procedures is advisable prior to commitment.

Recommendation for prospective residents and families: La Siena is likely to suit people seeking a well‑appointed, socially active community with extensive amenities and visible staff leadership. During a visit, explicitly evaluate clinical and operational details that reviewers flagged as variable: request a meal sample, ask for current staffing ratios and pendant response-time data, confirm medication‑management protocols and on‑site nursing scope, review accessibility features in the specific unit, and obtain written explanations of fees and refund/exit policies. Those with progressive clinical needs or strict dietary/assistance requirements should verify care level limitations and contingency plans before moving in.

    About La Siena

La Siena is a continuing care retirement community that gives older adults several living options, including independent living, assisted living, memory care, skilled nursing, and even short-term respite care for seniors recovering from surgeries or when caregivers need relief, so folks can choose the right support for their needs and adjust it any time as things change, and you'll find staff ready to help at any hour, whether someone needs a little assistance with daily tasks, medication reminders, or more involved care for dementia in a dedicated environment. The community stands out with its different apartment floor plans like Volterra, Pienza, and Montacino, all designed with resident comfort in mind, and people can spend time in exterior spaces with walking paths, a fountain, or sit indoors in the communal lobby, dining rooms, theater, craft studio, chapel, pub, and common rooms where many activities take place. Residents can eat chef-prepared meals in restaurant-style dining rooms or at a pub, and there's a market right on site for convenience, plus amenities like a heated pool, fitness center, library, beauty salon, internet cafe, putting green, dance studio, and shuffleboard court, and the calendar fills each week with social and recreational activities, educational events, outings, and health and wellness programs like the Zestful Living wellness program. The community puts focus on creating a safe place where people can build friendships with structured programs like Resident Stories and Resident Connections, along with special culinary experiences under ideas such as Tastebud Euphoria and Discover Dining, so everyone can try something new and socialize in comfort, and for those who need specialized help, care plans are tailored individually and reviewed as needed, especially in CARF-accredited areas of assisted living and memory care, supporting people living with Alzheimer's or dementia. There's also transportation to help residents get to appointments or explore the area, and when family comes to visit or new residents want to learn more, the team offers private tours. La Siena is associated with Facebook and Meta, so residents have services that help with Facebook usage, and the community takes pride in its distinctive programs, philosophy, and engagement with life stories, all aiming to provide comfort, safety, and a sense of belonging, whether a resident wants independent living or needs a higher level of care.
