    Peaceful compassionate care brings relief

I'm so grateful we found this home - placing my mother here brought us real peace of mind. The staff (Marta and the team) are kind, patient and professional; caregiving is attentive and skilled, the house is clean and well-kept, and there are plenty of activities in a peaceful, family-like atmosphere. I would recommend this facility to families seeking compassionate, dignified care.

    Summary of reviews

Overall sentiment across the provided reviews is strongly positive. Reviewers repeatedly highlight the friendliness and approachability of staff, frequent and varied activities, and a palpable sense of community that makes residents and families feel they have "become a member of an Extended Family." Several summaries explicitly state that the choice to move in or place a loved one there was "an easy decision" and that the experience "met and exceeded all hopes and expectations," indicating high overall satisfaction.

Care quality and outcomes are portrayed favorably by implication: phrases such as "better fit for loved one," "met and exceeded all hopes and expectations," and "peace of mind" suggest that the services and support delivered align well with resident needs and family expectations. While the summaries do not list clinical details or specific care tasks, the consistent references to peace of mind and exceeded expectations point to reliable, trust-building care practices and successful resident placement.

Staff and interpersonal environment are standout positives. Multiple summaries call out "very friendly staff," and the repeated mention of a family-like atmosphere indicates that employee interactions and community culture are strong contributors to resident satisfaction. This likely supports both residents' day-to-day comfort and family confidence, as reflected in recommendations and emotional language used by reviewers.

Activities and engagement are another clear strength. Reviews mention "more activities," "plenty of activities," and "abundant activities and programming," which together indicate a robust schedule of social, recreational, or enrichment offerings. This emphasis on programming is a major reason reviewers felt the community was a good fit for their loved ones and contributed to the feeling that expectations were met or exceeded.

Facilities, dining, and management receive little to no direct comment in the summaries provided. There is no specific feedback on dining quality, physical plant condition, or administrative responsiveness beyond the general praise that the decision was "easy" and the experience was "good." From the positive overall tone, one can infer that these areas were at least satisfactory for the reviewers, but the reviews do not provide concrete details to evaluate them definitively.

The primary negative pattern that appears is cost: reviewers note the community is "more costly than other communities." This is the only explicit concern in the summaries, and it appears to be balanced against perceived value; despite higher cost, families indicated they would recommend the community and felt the higher expense was justified by activities, staff, and overall fit. In short, the community appears to trade a higher price point for stronger programming, a warm culture, and outcomes that deliver peace of mind to families.

In summary, these reviews paint a picture of an inviting, activity-rich senior living community with very friendly staff and a strong sense of belonging. Families frequently report that the community was a good or better-than-expected match for their loved ones and that the placement provided emotional reassurance and satisfaction. The only recurring drawback noted is a higher cost compared with alternatives; however, reviewers generally indicate that the benefits and quality experienced make that cost acceptable and warrant recommendation.

    About Extended Family Home

Extended Family Home has been dedicated to providing high-quality assisted living care to the Mesa community since 1996. As a family-owned and managed residence, it prides itself on creating an environment that feels like home for both residents and staff members alike. The home was founded out of a deep respect for the elderly and a commitment to ensuring that all residents receive compassionate, individualized care. The atmosphere is designed to foster a sense of belonging and promote the independence and dignity of each person who lives there.

The facility offers two separate homes, Extended Family Home – East and Extended Family Home – West, both located in Mesa. Each home is thoughtfully constructed and licensed for up to ten residents, which allows for an intimate, community-like setting with personalized attention. The homes are purposefully designed to be ADA accessible, featuring bathrooms, hallways, and doorways that accommodate residents with mobility needs along with individualized call systems tailored to each person’s requirements. Residents have the choice of private or semi-private rooms, depending on their preference and availability, with the West location featuring exclusively private rooms.

Care at Extended Family Home is built around the principle of honoring individuality. With this in mind, there are no universally set schedules for waking up or going to bed, unless such schedules are required for a resident’s care plan. Breakfast is prepared individually and is available from early in the morning until mid-morning, ensuring that each person can enjoy their meal at their preferred time. The home’s cooks are skilled in accommodating a wide variety of dietary needs and preferences, providing residents with freshly made meals and flexibility in dining.

Medical care at Extended Family Home extends to include administration of insulin, medications, and even IV treatments, with services that may be covered by health insurance. The residence is designed to provide a safe and secure home-like environment, where residents can confidently live with the assurance that their health and well-being are prioritized. The all-inclusive pricing model eliminates confusion and helps families to plan for their loved one’s care with ease.

A particular area of expertise at Extended Family Home is the care for individuals living with Dementia and Alzheimer’s disease. Both homes are equipped to support residents whose needs may change as their condition progresses. The staff take great care to help residents maintain and improve their quality of life, focusing on encouraging independence with daily tasks that may otherwise become challenging. Each resident is given time, support, and encouragement in all aspects of their daily activities, all within a safe and loving setting.

Above all, Extended Family Home is committed to treating each resident with respect and honoring their unique life journey. The combination of highly individualized care, a nurturing and safe environment, and a family-centered philosophy creates a place where seniors can thrive with dignity and comfort.
