    Nice staff, facility but management

I toured this lovely, roomy home with nice two-person rooms, clean comfortable common areas, and pleasant outdoor green space - Connie and most staff were friendly, attentive, and caring. Care was generally fine, though activities were limited and the food quality declined after my initial visit. My biggest red flags were management: the owner seemed understaffed, I encountered arbitrary charges, a penalty after agreeing to admit, long refund delays and what I consider unethical business practices (I filed a complaint). Overall: fair - great staff and a nice facility, but I can't fully recommend because of the billing/management issues and reports of mistreatment.

    Summary review

Overall sentiment across the reviews is mixed: many reviewers praise the physical environment and describe a clean, comfortable, and attractive home with spacious rooms and pleasant outdoor green space, while several serious concerns are raised about management practices, financial disputes, and instances of poor treatment. The most consistent positive themes are the home's appearance and cleanliness, and frequent mentions of caring or helpful staff. The most significant negative themes are contractual/financial issues and at least one report alleging mistreatment of residents with dementia.

Facilities and environment: Multiple reviewers describe the home as beautiful, roomy, and spacious, with nice-sized rooms and an option for two-resident room setups. Outdoor areas with trees and birds were singled out positively, and some noted exterior improvements and that the house is generally kept nice. Cleanliness is repeatedly noted — reviewers explicitly call the rooms and community very clean and comfortable. These recurring observations suggest the facility's physical environment and upkeep are strengths.

Staff and care quality: Reviews are split but lean toward positive regarding staff in aggregate. Several summaries call staff helpful, attentive, courteous, and “great,” and at least one reviewer specifically named Connie as friendly and informative. Multiple accounts report good or standard quality care and recommend the facility. However, this generally positive picture is punctuated by serious, contradictory comments from other reviewers: allegations of deception, staff yelling at patients, and mistreatment of residents with dementia. That sharp divergence suggests variability in staff behavior or supervision, possible inconsistency depending on shift or caregiver, or differing expectations among families. One review also mentioned the owner operating with only one staff member, which could explain inconsistent care or periods of inadequate supervision.

Dining and activities: Food receives mixed feedback. One reviewer said food was initially good but declined quickly, indicating potential problems with food quality or consistency over time. Activities are reported as not being offered by at least one reviewer, pointing to limited or absent programming for residents. If activity programming and consistent meal quality are important to prospective residents, these areas require direct inquiry during a visit.

Management, finances, and safety concerns: The most serious and recurring negative theme involves management practices. Several summaries allege unethical business practices, including a refund dispute, a penalty charged after an admission agreement, arbitrary charges, and refund delays. One reviewer explicitly noted that a complaint was filed. These are concrete red flags about billing transparency and contract enforcement. Because such issues affect families financially and legally, they merit careful attention: request written policies, copies of the admission agreement, clear refund/withdrawal/penalty language, and documented explanations for any charges. The reports of alleged prior incidents and a filed complaint also suggest it is prudent to check state licensing records and any complaint history.

Patterns and recommendations: Taken together, the reviews present a facility with clear strengths in physical environment and many instances of caring staff and adequate care, but with notable weaknesses in management transparency, billing practices, and some serious allegations of mistreatment. The variability in experiences — ranging from “no complaints” and “great overall experience” to reports of deception and mistreatment — indicates that outcomes may depend heavily on specific staff, timing, or individual circumstances.

If you are considering this facility, verify the positive aspects in person (room size, cleanliness, outdoor areas) and directly assess staff interactions during multiple visits and different times of day. Ask pointed questions about staffing levels and turnover, especially for residents with dementia, and request written policies on behavior management and resident safety. Scrutinize the admission contract and billing terms; get any cancellation/refund terms in writing and consider consulting local ombudsman or licensing records for complaint history. Finally, ask about activity programming and meal plans, and request references from current families to gauge consistency of care over time. Balancing the appealing physical environment and many favorable staff reports against the serious management and mistreatment allegations is critical before making a decision.

Residents get help with medicine, including insulin and reminders, personal care, light housekeeping, meal preparation, and even shopping or errands if that's needed. Full-time activity directors schedule outings, field trips, and a wide variety of social, educational, and recreational programs like yoga, chair yoga, art classes, cooking, gardening club, karaoke, and trivia. You'll find structured schedules with regular events, clubs, and social times to encourage friendships and active days, and trips offsite are common.
