    Highly recommend small caring home

I highly recommend this small, personal home - the owner and staff are loving, kind and truly go the extra mile (they even accompanied my mother to the hospital). It's clean, conveniently located, with nutritious meals, lots of activities, a pleasant back porch with plants, and safety cameras that felt odd at first but proved reassuring. One caveat: it's a bit dark and closed-in, so if you need a bright, airy space this may not be ideal, but my mother felt comfortable and supported.

    Summary review

Overall sentiment across the reviews is strongly positive with repeated emphasis on personalized, compassionate care delivered in a small, home-like setting. Multiple reviewers highlight the intimate atmosphere and the caring presence of the owner and staff, and many conclude with a strong recommendation. Praise centers on hands-on staff behavior, clean surroundings, engaging activities, nutritious meals, and the facility's convenient location.

Care quality and staff performance are the most prominent strengths. Reviewers repeatedly use terms such as loving, kind, understanding, and supportive to describe both the owner and caregivers. Specific examples reinforce this pattern: staff members are described as going the extra mile, accompanying residents to the hospital, and making family members feel supported and reassured. One reviewer explicitly noted that their mother felt more comfortable after moving in, which indicates effective transition support and attention to residents' emotional needs. The combination of a caring owner and consistent, attentive staff creates a sense of reliability and warmth that families found valuable.

Facility- and environment-related comments are mixed but informative. Many reviewers appreciate the small, personal scale of the home, which contributes to a familial atmosphere and individualized attention. The facility is described as clean and well-kept, with pleasant touches such as a back porch with plants. Its convenient location is another plus cited by families. However, several reviewers noted that certain spaces feel dark and closed-in; there is a clear desire from some families for a brighter, airier environment. This indicates that while the home is comfortable and tidy, it may not meet expectations for large, sunlit common areas that some prospective residents or families prefer.

Safety and privacy considerations appear in the reviews as a nuanced theme. Cameras are mentioned more than once: some family members initially found them odd or had privacy concerns, but they ultimately accepted them as a good safety measure. This suggests the facility prioritizes resident protection, and that transparent communication about camera use and its safety purpose could help alleviate initial apprehension among families.

Activities and dining receive consistent positive feedback. Reviewers mention a variety of social and leisure options such as movie nights, access to books, and board games, indicating an active, engaging daily life for residents. Dining is characterized as great and nutritious, which is an important practical plus for families evaluating ongoing care. These offerings complement the personalized caregiving to support both physical health and social well-being.

Management and ownership style appears hands-on and compassionate. The owner is repeatedly singled out as caring and involved, reinforcing the small-home, family-like model. That hands-on management likely contributes to the reported consistency of staff behavior and the quick responsiveness to family concerns. The primary patterns across reviews are dependable, empathetic care and a warm environment, balanced against a recurring aesthetic concern (dark, closed-in spaces) and initial camera-related privacy questions.

In summary, Footsteps Assisted Living Care Home is consistently recommended by reviewers for families seeking a small, intimate assisted living option with attentive staff, strong owner involvement, clean facilities, engaging activities, and good nutrition. Prospective families who prioritize personal attention, a supportive staff, and safety measures are likely to be very satisfied. Those for whom abundant natural light and spacious, airy environments are a priority should tour the facility to assess whether the atmosphere meets their preferences and discuss any privacy questions about cameras with management up front.

About Footsteps Assisted Living Care Home

Footsteps Assisted Living Care Home sits at 3135 East Larkspur Drive, Phoenix, Arizona, and is licensed with the number AL4859H, taking care of up to five residents in a comfortable, small-group setting that feels personal and familiar, and this place's been providing support since 2015, helping seniors bridge the gap between independent living and nursing options, so people get support with daily needs without such a big institution feel. Residents have 24-hour supervision from staff who help with activities like bathing, dressing, transfers, and medications, plus there's memory care, respite care for short stays, hospice services, and skilled nursing. The team arranges transportation for medical appointments and other outings, works closely with healthcare providers, and checks on folks regularly for their well-being. The home makes room for people with different dietary needs, whether it's diabetes, kosher, vegan, no added salt or sugar, or allergy-sensitive menus, and three simple, homemade meals come out every day. Residents gather in the dining room or enjoy meals privately, with options adjusted for health concerns like elevated blood pressure or diabetes, and chef-planned dishes meet most requirements. Housekeeping, laundry, and move-in help make living there easier, and the place offers wheelchair access, air-conditioning in each room, and private baths with basic furniture for each resident.

What you'll notice around are bright, airy spaces with indoor common rooms, a dining area, a board game nook, book room, and garden spots with walking paths, so seniors find both quiet and social places, including a back porch full of plants and flowers. Safety features include emergency alert systems, security cameras, and regular supervision, aiming to prevent confusion or wandering, especially for those with memory loss, and staff support covers transfers and mobility help, too. On-site services bring in hairdressers or mobile barbers, while a visiting chaplain or priest attends for those seeking spiritual support and devotional services.

Footsteps Assisted Living Care Home encourages social and active days by hosting movie nights, live music, art programs, holiday and birthday celebrations, exercise schedules, and animal therapy, with evening community events, tabletop games, and music therapy also available. Residents have Wi-Fi and cable or satellite TV, so it's easy to stay connected or entertained, and there's parking and transportation for residents and visitors. The smaller size of this home lets staff give more personalized care, aiming for safety, comfort, and dignity, and the home's focus stays on providing meals, care, and activities in a relaxed, secure, respectful space for seniors who need a bit more help or supervision, whether for a short time or long-term living.
