    Compassionate staff, serious management problems

I have mixed feelings. The caregivers and therapy team - Brittany coordinating video chats, a compassionate wound nurse, and many kind, attentive staff - genuinely went above and beyond, organized lovely holiday events, and made my loved one's time happier. But management and facility issues are serious: poor communication, medication mismanagement, unanswered phones, rude/unprofessional CNAs at times, COVID lockdowns that felt like confinement, showroom misrepresentation, small/hot outdated rooms (newer wing is better), and parking/elevator problems. If you need warm, skilled hands this place can deliver, but verify meds, policies, and staffing before you commit.

    Summary review

Overall sentiment across the reviews is mixed, with clear strengths in clinical and personal care contrasted by significant operational, communication, and facility concerns. The facility receives consistent praise for its therapy services and certain clinical caregivers, while multiple reviewers report frustrating experiences with management, medication handling, and basic infrastructure.

Care quality and clinical services emerge as one of the facility's strongest points. Multiple reviewers highlight an excellent therapy team and a wound care nurse described as a "gem." Specific clinical outcomes were cited: measurable progress (for example, regained arm movement and some speech), 24-hour total care for highly dependent residents, and improved wellbeing after admission for some family members. For many families the therapy and hands-on caregiving staff were the primary reason for satisfaction and the factor that made residents happier and healthier.

Staff behavior and consistency are polarized in the reviews. Many accounts describe friendly, helpful, compassionate, and attentive staff who go above and beyond — assisting with errands, coordinating video chats, and organizing events. However, there are repeated allegations of rude or unprofessional nurses and CNAs, instances where the director of nursing appeared unaware of problems, and accusations of cover-ups to protect staff. This points to inconsistency in training, supervision, or culture: some shifts and employees provide outstanding care while others fall short, creating unpredictable experiences for residents and families.

Facility condition and amenities are described as uneven. The newer side of the building receives praise for larger, updated rooms and a cleaner appearance, while the older section is criticized for small, outdated rooms and misrepresentation compared to showroom promises. Ongoing remodeling was noted, which may improve the environment long term but also contributes to disruption in the short term. Practical issues were flagged repeatedly: hot rooms due to non-working air conditioning, no official paved parking (gravel lot), and elevator failures or lack of power. These infrastructure problems affect comfort, accessibility, and perceptions of safety.

Operational and safety-related concerns are prominent. Several reviews describe medication mismanagement — lack of notification when medications change, delays from doctors or pharmacies, and poor coordination — which is a high-risk area for any care facility. Communication problems extend beyond meds: unanswered phones, lazy or understaffed weekend shifts, and reports that patients were left alone. A policy explicitly disclaiming responsibility for lost or stolen items was noted and caused concern among families. Together, these comments suggest weaknesses in administration, staffing levels (especially off-hours), and transparency.

Activities, dining, and family engagement are areas with positive feedback. Reviewers praised well-organized holiday events such as Thanksgiving gatherings and themed celebrations with snacks and beverages, showing staff effort in resident engagement and morale. Coordination of family contact (notably a staff member coordinating weekly video chats) also received specific appreciation, which is important during times of restricted visitation.

Notable patterns and the overall takeaway: reviewers consistently point to exceptional therapy and several standout staff members who deliver compassionate, effective care. At the same time, recurring issues around communication, medication handling, inconsistent staff professionalism, and basic building maintenance create serious concerns and have led some families to strongly negative conclusions. The presence of new management in some reports is encouraging to those who noted improvement, but other reviews indicate persistent systemic problems.

If considering this facility, prioritize asking specific, verifiable questions: request to see rooms on the newer side versus the older wing; ask about current air conditioning repairs and elevator status; confirm parking arrangements; inquire about staffing levels and supervision on weekends and nights; get written clarification on medication administration protocols and notification policies; and ask whether management has addressed prior complaints about staff professionalism and alleged cover-ups. The facility appears capable of providing excellent therapeutic and compassionate care, but variability in operations and infrastructure means prospective residents and families should perform careful, up-to-date due diligence before committing.
