Bethesda Home has been serving seniors since 1964, starting out as a remodeled apartment building and growing into a community that now offers independent living, assisted living, and skilled nursing care all in one place, so folks can stay in the same community even if their needs change, and they don't have to leave their spouse if one needs more care than the other. The Christian-based community welcomes residents from many faith backgrounds, providing spiritual programming, devotional programs, and plenty of activities to support everyone's emotional and mental health as well as their bodies, which is why the staff schedules outings to local attractions, movie nights, gardening, walking paths, and activities in the arts room or around the family-style living room and patios that open onto well-kept lawns and flower beds, some reserved for residents to do a bit of gardening themselves in the peaceful setting that feels quiet, secluded, and friendly.
The home has room for around 40 residents in total, with 28 beds for residential care and an attached skilled nursing unit with over 35 beds for those needing more medical help after illness or surgery, all managed by over 65 licensed staff who offer care round the clock, including certified nursing assistants, licensed nurses, and a director of nursing who, along with the administrator, can respond to concerns 24/7, including by email. Bethesda Home takes pride in letting residents keep their independence as much as possible, but provides hands-on help with medication, bathing, dressing, and moving about, as well as advanced care for those with diabetes, incontinence, or trouble walking, and ensures each person can get therapies like physical, occupational, or speech if they need them, working with local therapists to set up appointments and transport.
Meals are handled by a culinary team and dietician who serve breakfast, lunch, and dinner every day, using restaurant-style and all-day dining setups, with plenty of choices for those with food allergies or special diets, including diabetic-friendly meals, and drinks are always available, while the staff also provides regular housekeeping, fresh linens, and scheduled activities to keep residents comfortable and engaged. Safety is built in with emergency alert systems and a 24-hour call system, and amenities like furnished rooms, an atrium, gardens, walking paths, a barber and salon, and cottages make daily life easier and more social, while scheduled transportation helps people get to doctor appointments or off-site community events, and both laboratory services and mobile dentistry and podiatry are available if needed.
Some families use respite care when they need a break, and Bethesda Home offers long-term care that often costs less than a full-time nursing home. Visiting hours run from 8 in the morning until 8 at night, and the community encourages family and friends to stop by. The nonprofit, Christ-centered approach centers on care that respects each person and aims to nurture the spiritual, physical, and emotional needs of every resident, whether they want to stay active and engaged or just enjoy the peace and quiet of the gardens and lawns, and the staff works to answer questions or concerns promptly, keeping communication easy for residents and loved ones alike. Medicare is accepted only if certification has been approved by the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services.
