    Spotless building, friendly neighbors, activities

I've lived here for many years and feel privileged - the building is spotless and well-maintained, neighbors are friendly, and there are plenty of activities in the lounge and on the patio (great parties and an annual rummage/bake sale). The Mission Hills location is fantastic with ocean/mountain views and easy access to shops, banks, groceries and restaurants. Staff are excellent and responsive - Noelle was especially helpful and even resolved a delivery issue. My only concern is the ambiguous "no children allowed" policy and how it applies to grandchildren; otherwise I'm very happy and give it five stars.

    Summary review

Overall sentiment: The review summaries present Green Manor as a well-maintained, desirable senior living community with overwhelmingly positive resident sentiment. Multiple reviewers express high satisfaction, describing the property as spotless and conveying a 5-star impression. Many residents are long-tenured and report feeling privileged to live there, which indicates both satisfaction with services and resident retention.

Staff and management: Staff and management receive strong praise across the reviews. An accommodating manager is specifically noted, and staff are described as excellent and responsive. One staff member, Noelle, is repeatedly singled out for being helpful and effectively resolving a delivery issue—an anecdote that illustrates staff attentiveness and problem-solving. Residents emphasize that staff responsiveness contributes significantly to their positive experience and sense of community.

Facilities and cleanliness: The physical building and grounds are repeatedly described as clean, spotless, and well-maintained. Reviewers highlight specific communal spaces—a lounge dedicated to activities and a patio that hosts social parties—as important amenity features. Scenic benefits are also mentioned: several reviews cite ocean and mountain views. These facility strengths combine with the reported cleanliness to create a favorable living environment.

Activities and social life: Activity programming appears robust and varied. Residents mention a wide range of activities, regular social gatherings on the patio, and special community events such as an annual rummage/bake sale. The presence of a dedicated activity lounge supports an active social calendar, and reviewers emphasize friendly neighbors and an engaged community, reinforcing the sense of a lively, connected resident population.

Location and convenience: Location is a notable advantage. Green Manor’s Mission Hills setting receives praise for its proximity to shops, banks, grocery stores, and restaurants, making errands and outings convenient. Reviewers also appreciate the scenic views associated with the location. The location contributes both to daily convenience and to the overall desirability of the property.

Concerns and patterns to note: The primary concerns raised relate to residency and visitation policies rather than the quality of care or amenities. Several reviews reference a "no children allowed" policy and express confusion or concern about its scope—specifically whether it applies to grandchildren and how strictly family visitation is restricted. This policy ambiguity is the most consistent negative theme and has caused some uncertainty among residents and family members. There is also mention of an isolated delivery/service issue; while it was resolved (notably by staff such as Noelle), it is worth noting as an example of a one-off operational hiccup rather than a systemic problem.

Gaps in the reviews: The review summaries provide limited information about formal care services (medical or nursing care) and dining quality. Because reviewers focus heavily on staff friendliness, community atmosphere, activities, cleanliness, and location, there is little direct feedback in these summaries regarding clinical care levels, specialized services, meal quality, or pricing. Prospective residents or family members seeking evaluations of those specific aspects should request additional details or direct observations.

Overall conclusion: Reviews paint Green Manor as a clean, friendly, activity-rich community with strong staff support and an excellent location. Resident loyalty and consistent praise for management and individual staff members suggest high overall satisfaction. The main recurring issue is policy clarity around children and family visitation—an area management could address by communicating rules and exceptions more explicitly to avoid confusion. Apart from that, comments are strongly positive, and the few operational issues mentioned appear to be handled promptly and effectively.

    About Green Manor

Green Manor stands tall with 13 stories up at the top of Washington Street in Mission Hills, San Diego, offering housing to seniors aged 62 and older who want comfort, support, and easy access to the city. The building has 150 apartments, mostly studios and one-bedroom units, all in a gated, smoke-free community with a focus on safety and accessibility. Residents live in a modern apartment setting, many with city views, and there's a pet-friendly policy that allows one companion animal per resident. The grounds have lush gardens, a picnic area, and quiet spots to sit among blooming flowers and floral trees, and the place even sits close to the Mission Hills Nursery, which makes the landscape even more pleasant.

Green Manor has high-speed internet, electric heating, on-site laundry, and both a deck and an elevator, making things easier for those with mobility needs, plus there's public transportation close by, which means getting to services, restaurants, and entertainment spots isn't hard. Residents can use the library, shoot pool at the billiard table, or find a secluded reading area, and some like to play music or just sit outside and enjoy the fresh air. Activities and community events bring people together, helping new friendships grow in a welcoming and supportive space.

The building dates back to the early 1970s but has a modern look with updated features and services for senior residents, including memory care and residential care home support, though there isn't much detailed public information about those services. The management team, known through Falkenberg/Gilliam & Associates, Inc., puts effort into keeping things running smoothly, and there's always dedicated staff on site. Some people find peace in the quiet gardens, others enjoy the hum of city life close by, and because it's right in an urban neighborhood, there's quick access to dining, arts, and local events, letting residents stay active and connected to the community around them.
