    Small family-run facility, attentive staff

I'm very pleased with my grandma's care at this small, family-run (European) facility - the owner lives on-site and is consistently present, staff are pleasant and attentive to grooming/personal care, and they keep us well informed. It's clean, well organized, intimate (two units), and meals are delivered to her room and can be customized. It is pricey ($3,500/month) and there are extra charges for oxygen and incontinence.

    Summary review

Overall sentiment across the reviews is strongly positive, with multiple mentions of attentive, personalized care delivered in a small, family-run setting. Reviewers repeatedly emphasize that staff are pleasant and caregivers provide reliable day-to-day support. The facility’s small scale — described as an intimate home with two housing units — appears to foster close relationships between staff, residents, and families. Several reviewers explicitly state they are pleased with their relatives’ care, noting particular strengths in grooming, personal care, and the general cleanliness and organization of the building.

Care quality and staffing are highlights. Caregivers are described as “great,” and reviewers appreciate consistent, hands-on involvement from ownership. The owner’s regular presence during visits and the fact that the operation is family-run (with a European family living in the community) are cited as reasons families feel informed and comfortable. Communication with families is singled out as excellent; reviewers mention that the staff and owner keep them updated and “go the extra mile,” which contributes to trust and satisfaction.

Facilities and daily living features reflect the property’s small scale and homelike character. The community is described as very nice, clean, and well organized. Meals are a clear positive: food is delivered directly to residents’ rooms and can be customized to preferences, which supports individualized care. The small two-unit structure gives the impression of a tight-knit environment where staff know residents personally. That said, the small size also implies limitations in available amenities and activities — the explicit example given is that a piano is not available, which may matter for families looking for a broader activity program or specific music-based engagement.

Management and culture are consistent themes. Multiple reviewers reference the family-owned nature of the operation, noting that the owners are approachable, frequently on site, and actively involved in residents’ welfare. The European family background is mentioned as part of the community’s identity. This hands-on management style appears to translate into proactive communication with families and a willingness to accommodate individual resident needs.

Cost and fee structure are the primary concerns. Reviewers note a relatively high monthly base rate (cited as $3,500) and additional charges for certain services, specifically oxygen and incontinence supplies. These extra fees are an important pattern to highlight for prospective residents and families: while base-level care, meals, and the personalized environment receive praise, the out-of-pocket costs for some medical supplies and services may increase total monthly expenses. Combined with the facility’s small size and limited amenities (e.g., no piano), some families may weigh the premium price against the level and scope of services and activities provided.

In summary, Twin Oaks Garden is portrayed as a small, well-run, family-operated residential care option that excels in personal attention, cleanliness, meal service, grooming, and communication. The hands-on ownership and caring staff form the core strengths. Prospective residents should be aware of the relatively high monthly rate and possible add-on charges for medical supplies (oxygen, incontinence), and the limited on-site amenities that can accompany a small, intimate setting. For families prioritizing individualized care, attentive staff, and close family communication, Twin Oaks Garden appears to be a strong choice; for those seeking broader activity offerings or lower total costs, these trade-offs should be considered.

    About Twin Oaks Garden

Twin Oaks Garden sits in San Marcos, California, up in San Diego's North County, and has been family owned and operated since 1998, so you see two houses sitting next to each other, these two adjacent care homes, and they take care of up to six seniors at a time in each, making things feel homey, quiet, and easy to get around with safe surroundings and cheerful sights out every window-you can see gardens and trees, and if you open a door you end up outside, since there's a bit of outdoor access for fresh air and some walking if you feel up to it. The staff, led by Administrator Snezana "Suzie" Lukic, help with things like bathing, dressing, moving around the house, and managing medicines, and they'll even arrange transportation for doctor visits at cost. Meals come every day, with vegetarian options for those who need it, and there's a focus on personal attention for habits and routines, with 24-hour supervision if someone needs more help.

The place offers memory care, high acuity care, diabetic support, and can help folks who need incontinence care or who can no longer walk on their own. The houses have private baths and wheelchair accessible showers, which help with comfort if you need extra assistance, plus the staff supports Spanish and Ukrainian speakers, so people who prefer another language won't feel left out. There are indoor and outdoor common areas, and residents can join community activities-from Christian services to daily programs, there's always something, and regularly scheduled movie nights happen for a bit of fun. You'll also find beautician services, a garden, walking paths, and staff who help keep life on track with careful attention. Twin Oaks Garden has held a strong reputation for compassionate, personalized care, and is licensed by the state of California under License #: 374600589, with a 5.0 rating based on a couple of online reviews. If someone needs respite or a short-term stay, that's an option, and if you want to know more about the daily goings-on or just want someplace with a steady, kind atmosphere and good views, then this community has been reliably supporting local seniors for many years now.
