    About Masonic Homes of California

Masonic Homes of California sits atop over 300 acres on a hill in Union City, where you can look out over the San Francisco Bay and enjoy views and green spaces as well as a moderate climate, and across its gated grounds you'll find about 300 people living in studios or one-bedroom apartments, each with their own bath and usually a kitchenette, and the grounds have walking trails, gardens, a Pavilion building and outdoor areas for both small and large groups, so there's plenty of room to relax or join in on activities like walking, yoga, card games, or even parties and lectures. The campus has several levels of care including independent living, assisted living, skilled nursing, memory care, and on-site rehab after surgery, and there's also another retirement home in Covina if you prefer. If someone needs more help, expert caregivers are on hand day and night, and there's skilled memory care with secure units, safety features for people with dementia, and three levels of memory care based on ongoing assessments, all rooted in a person-centered approach to help residents live their best life while staying safe, and the Pavilion at the Masonic Homes offers these assisted living and memory care services. Health and wellness are a big part of the community with multiple fitness centers, an indoor pool, pharmacy and medical services like speech, occupational, and physical therapy, as well as nutritional counseling, and you can get medical and dental care right there on site, plus things like personal care, medication help, and transportation services. The campus also has weekly housekeeping and laundry, high-speed internet and utilities in the apartments, beauty salon and barber services, a computer center, a library, and even a general store and ice cream parlor for little treats, and people eat three chef-prepared meals in restaurant-style dining rooms, with the staff managing all apartment maintenance, too. Residents can take part in recreation all year like jogging, tai chi, dancing, trips to museums and malls, and there's lots of support for spiritual needs, grief, and emotional wellbeing, including a worship center, lodge room, chaplain, and personal pastoral care. The campus is designed with safety in mind-secure monitored gates, a gated entry with security, and special features to reduce confusion and wandering for people with dementia. The Masonic Homes is a non-profit and provides care and outreach for both Masons and non-Masons, with programs supporting many families and youth, and financial help available through Masonic Assistance programs, a Shared Housing Program, and in-home care options through the Masonic Value Network. Residents can also participate in family and community councils, and the organization keeps connections to wider community groups, offers volunteer roles, and lets staff and volunteers join in the everyday life there. Masonic Homes of California accepts Medicare and Medicaid for payment, so people have a range of options, and the campus has been named one of the 100 best nursing homes in the state, so people living there can expect honest, steady care with a choice of living styles, support services, and plenty of ways to enjoy each day on the grounds.
