    Clean supportive community, generally recommended

I live here and I'm pleased overall - the place is extremely clean, staff are professional and genuinely helpful, and meals are generally very good. My roomy apartment (kitchenette, emergency bathroom button) and the amenities - dining room, pool/gym, salon, library, lots of activities and regular transportation - make life easy and social. It's an older building under remodeling, prices are on the higher side, and I've seen occasional staffing, dining or maintenance hiccups (and no memory-care unit). Despite that, I feel supported and would recommend it.

    Summary review

Overall sentiment in the reviews is mixed-to-positive, with a strong tilt toward praising staff, social life and the physical environment, while recurring concerns center on dining consistency, staffing levels, renovations and some safety/management issues. Many reviewers emphasize Cherry Creek Retirement Village as a bright, active community with a warm, home‑like atmosphere and knowledgeable, caring staff. Multiple commenters highlight that staff members are friendly, go the extra mile, know residents by name, and handle emergencies professionally. Weekly housekeeping, included utilities and Wi‑Fi, prompt maintenance in many cases, and the availability of an on-site nurse or assisted‑living supports are noted as important strengths that make daily life easier for residents and families.

Facilities and apartments receive frequent praise: the campus is described as beautiful, with landscaped courtyards, multiple atria, wide, bright hallways, and a recently remodeled dining room and interior spaces in parts of the building. Apartment sizes are a recurring positive (many 1‑bedrooms in the 600–800+ sq ft range and some larger 2BR/2BA options), with in‑unit kitchenettes or small kitchens in many units, washers/dryers and microwaves in select apartments, and emergency bathroom buttons. On-site amenities that are repeatedly appreciated include a well‑stocked library, pool and exercise facilities, a beauty/barber salon, hobby and crafts rooms, a rec room, and sometimes an on-site grocery option. The community is also noted for being pet-friendly (cats allowed) and offering covered parking and convenient laundry facilities.

Dining and food service are a clear area of mixed feedback. Many reviewers praised the restaurant‑style dining room, the initial meal quality, and the availability of two-entrée menus, dietary accommodations and daily specials. Others report problems: portions described as small, a perception that food quality declined over time, inconsistent meal variety, long waits or take‑out substitutes when short‑staffed, and occasional rudeness from wait staff. The pricing structure of meals is another frequent topic — some plans include meals, others are a la carte or charge extra for grill items, and a few reviewers felt certain inclusions (linens, etc.) were misrepresented. Prospective residents should verify current meal-plan options, what is included in base pricing, and whether the dining style matches their preferences.

Activities and social life are consistently strong points. Cherry Creek offers a wide and active calendar: Bingo, card games (blackjack, poker), movies, sewing and craft clubs, walking and exercise groups, monthly birthday celebrations, themed events, and frequent off‑site excursions (including scenic bus trips and Rockies games). Many reviewers emphasize the social atmosphere, frequent outings, and programming that keeps residents engaged and connected. The wellness director and activity staff are repeatedly singled out as engaging and effective at fostering community participation.

Care level, assisted living services and safety raise nuanced feedback. Nursing staff and caregiving personnel are praised in many reviews for competence and attentiveness; the facility can serve independent residents and those needing some assistance. However, several reviewers warn that the community has a relatively high proportion of residents with dementia or higher acuity than expected, and there is no dedicated memory‑care unit due to building security/approval issues. Related safety concerns appear in multiple reports: an intruder incident and management’s response alarmed some families, sidewalks around the property were said to be in disrepair and hazardous for walkers, and a few reviewers noted perceived gaps in authority or staffing on weekends and holidays. These safety and security issues suggest families should ask specific questions about weekend staffing, building access controls, and supervision of residents with cognitive impairment.

Management, maintenance and renovation themes are mixed. Many reviews describe quick repairs, good upkeep and a friendly front desk; others describe long‑running, unfinished renovation projects with repeated painting, water leaks, flooding and slow issue resolution. Staffing shortages were mentioned as contributing to reduced services (particularly in dining), delayed responses and reliance on take‑out meal options. A few reviewers experienced isolated instances of rude staff or leadership who seemed unavailable, though some of those complaints were reportedly addressed by management. Prospective residents should inquire about current renovation timelines, recent staffing improvements, and how the community handles maintenance emergencies and resident complaints.

Value and affordability vary by reviewer. Some find Cherry Creek reasonably priced or good value for what is offered (utilities, activities, transportation, on‑site services), and military/VA assistance was mentioned by a few as helpful. Others find the monthly price high or confusing — one reviewer specifically noted not being able to afford $3,500/month — and several criticized extra charges for certain meal items or services. Transparency on fees, what is included, and any move‑in or linen policies should be clarified during tours.

In summary, Cherry Creek Retirement Village is frequently described as a clean, attractive community with strong staff engagement, robust activities and many on‑site amenities that foster socialization. Its biggest weaknesses per the reviews are inconsistent dining service and meal quality, staffing shortages that impact service levels, prolonged or poorly handled renovations, and some safety/security and maintenance concerns. Many families and residents recommend the community, but the reviews suggest that prospective residents should: (1) verify current staffing levels and weekend/holiday coverage, (2) confirm whether the specific unit and bathroom updates meet their needs, (3) clarify dining plan details and meal inclusions, (4) ask about memory‑care availability and security measures, and (5) request an update on renovation schedules and recent maintenance history before committing.
