    Warm staff resort-style lively community

I moved my mom here and I'm very pleased - the staff are warm and caring, the new, resort-style building is beautiful and spotless, and there's a cruise-ship vibe with nonstop activities (theater, salon, restaurant, koi pond, shuttle) that keep residents social and happy. Apartments are large and well-maintained and care quality is strong, though it's expensive and we noticed occasional issues with housekeeping, parking/garage access and limited gluten-free dining options. Overall, staff responsiveness and the lively community made it the best option we found.

    Summary review

Overall sentiment across the review summaries is strongly positive, with repeated emphasis on excellent, caring staff and a wide range of amenities that create a resort- or "cruise-ship"-like experience. Many reviewers highlight the facility as newer, clean, and tastefully decorated, describing a three-story open atrium and mall-like navigation that contributes to a bright, social atmosphere. Staff are frequently called friendly, accommodating, and attentive — several summaries specifically praise individual staff (for example, Margo, the director of sales) and an activities director and cite quick responsiveness and a family-like approach to resident care. The community is mid-sized (roughly 130–140 residents), which reviewers indicate supports a lively, social peer group and makes it easy to build relationships.

Facilities and amenities are a major strength. Reviewers repeatedly mention an on-site movie theater, activity center, salon/hairdresser, bank, restaurant with a sous chef, koi pond, in-room safes, fenced patios on some first-floor units, and pet-friendly features including a small on-site dog park plus a nearby large free dog park. The layout is described as dementia-friendly and accessible, and many reviews praise the attractive landscaping and well-kept common areas. Renovations and updates were noted by several reviewers (new rugs, paintings, kitchen updates), reinforcing the perception of a modern, updated community.

Activities and social life receive extensive praise. There is a full slate of daily options — bridge, Wii bowling, bingo, crafts, exercise classes, twice-daily movies, Happy Hour and resident-led clubs — and reviewers describe residents as highly engaged and social. This contributes to repeated comments about the place feeling like "Adult Disneyland" or a "cruise ship," with many reviewers saying their family members quickly made friends and settled in. The community also supports resident autonomy and offers private-vendor home-care options for those who need supplemental assistance.

Dining receives mixed but detailed feedback. Many reviews call out three meals per day with Sunday brunch and improved offerings after the arrival of a new chef; reviewers also praise proper portioning and variety. At the same time, others criticize the dining quality or the dining-room experience and specifically call out a lack of gluten-free options. Overall, the majority report good or improving food, but dining remains an area with inconsistent impressions across residents.

Operational strengths include attentive housekeeping and maintenance for many residents, good customer service during move-in and transitions, early access to rooms in some cases, and practical conveniences like transportation/shuttle services and flexible move-in structures (noted as "no buy-in/month-to-month" by one reviewer). However, there are a number of operational concerns to be aware of: garages being used for storage (preventing some residents from accessing their cars), occasional transportation issues despite shuttle service, and at least one mention of internal management compensation/bonus concerns. Housekeeping and maintenance impressions are mostly positive, but a few reviewers said housekeeping was not great, suggesting some inconsistency.

Cost and perceived value are somewhat mixed in the reviews. Several reviewers call the community "expensive" or note higher pricing, but many of the same people add that it is "worth it" due to the quality of staff, amenities, and social life. Conversely, a few reviewers compared it to cheaper options where they felt meals and some services were not as strong. This divergence suggests that while many residents perceive strong value relative to price, prospective residents should confirm current pricing and what is included, and weigh those details against individual budget priorities.

In summary, Parkside Village Retirement Resort is consistently described as a modern, well-appointed independent living community with excellent staff, a robust activities program, and numerous on-site amenities that foster a lively social environment. Pet-friendliness, a dementia-friendly layout, and helpful support services are definite strengths. Areas to verify and consider further before committing include dining specifics (especially dietary accommodations like gluten-free meals), garage/parking availability, any current renovation impacts, and overall cost relative to included services. The dominant impression is of a warm, well-managed community that many reviewers strongly recommend, with a few operational and dining caveats worth investigating during a visit.

    About Parkside Village Retirement Resort

Parkside Village Retirement Resort sits in Aurora, Colorado, close to Cherry Creek State Park, and has views of the Rockies, so you're not far from greenery, parks, and even golf courses, which some folks find nice for walks or just a little fresh air when the weather's good. The place is for adults 55 and older, and they've set it up so residents can pick from several apartment types, like studios, single rooms, two- or even three-bedroom units, and there's also semi-private options, all with their own climate controls, ceiling fans, spacious closets, granite countertops, stainless-steel appliances, full kitchens or kitchenettes, washer and dryer in each unit, and cable TV and Wi-Fi-plus all utilities are part of the rent, which means you won't be surprised each month when the bills come round. People like that the rent covers almost everything, from meals three times a day in a big dining room, snacks, laundry, dry cleaning, maintenance, housekeeping, and valet parking, to a concierge service that's there all day and night, so help's never far, and there's also transportation with a shuttle or bus for medical appointments, errands, or outings like Friday restaurant trips.

Here, safety seems a focus, with a sprinkler system, emergency pendant devices for every resident, safety and handicap features throughout the building, and a commitment to regular upkeep and cleaning, so the place stays well maintained and tidy. They allow pets and don't charge an extra fee, so folks with animal companions don't need to worry about hidden costs. The resort offers both independent and assisted living, services for Alzheimer's care, and long-term care guidance and insurance resources, and there are always staff, including personal care assistants, ready to help with the daily tasks if someone's health changes or they just need that extra hand.

There's a good number of places to spend time outside your room, too, with game and activity rooms, a fitness center, a salon and barbershop, and even a dance floor where residents can dance or enjoy live music, especially during happy hour. Religious services, including Catholic and other denominations, are hosted right at Parkside, so you won't need to travel to church if you don't want to. The community holds their own social events, arts and crafts, educational programs, and health and wellness programs, and there's often entertainment brought in, which helps residents stay busy and connected.

People say the staff are friendly, know residents by name, and pick up on what each person likes, especially around meals and daily routines, which creates a kind, supportive environment that feels more like a close community than a large institution. Guest parking is available for when family visits, and there's Wi-Fi to keep in touch with kids or grandkids. Many appreciate the satisfaction guarantee policy and the fact the community always keeps its doors open, staffed 24/7, with a welcoming, secure feeling. Monthly rent ranges from about $2,000 to $7,000 depending on apartment size and service needs, so there's a bit of flexibility based on someone's preferences and what they need as they get older. Some mention the location is pretty nice, being both peaceful and not too far from Denver. Online, the community gets a 4.1 out of 5 from 13 reviews, and people generally seem glad for the comfortable lifestyle and all the little ways Parkside's staff try to make daily living easy.
