    Gorgeous facility, exceptional attentive staff

I placed my mom in this brand-new assisted living/memory-care community and I'm impressed - gorgeous, resort-like facility with high ceilings, large windows, park views and high-end finishes. The staff are extraordinary: kind, tenured, attentive (memory care and hospice on-site), and the chef/food are outstanding. There are plenty of activities, exercise classes, outings and a lively dining/bistro scene, which helped my mom thrive; the move-in and care coordination were smooth. Downsides: rooms are on the small side and it's a higher-end price, and I've heard occasional management/staffing issues - but overall I feel my loved one is safe, well cared for, and I highly recommend it.

    Summary review

Overall sentiment across the reviews for Cherry Hills Assisted Living and Memory Care is strongly positive, with the majority of commenters praising the facility's environment, staff, and dining. Many reviewers emphasize that the building is brand-new and upscale, with high-end finishes, high ceilings, lots of windows, and park views that create a bright, pleasant living environment. The atmosphere is frequently described as resort-like or Ritz-like, with elegant dining rooms, a bistro with live music, and welcoming common areas that support socialization. Cleanliness and thoughtful design are repeatedly noted—reviewers call the community spotless, well-kept, and peaceful.

Care quality and staff receive the most consistent praise. Multiple reviewers use words like compassionate, attentive, dedicated, and kind to describe caregiving teams, and many single out the memory care staff as particularly strong. The name Katharine Johnson appears repeatedly as an example of strong, professional leadership; reviewers associate her with stability, dedication, and excellent management of care. Families report smooth transitions, personalized attention, one-on-one dining escorts, and staff who go above and beyond. On-site services such as physical and occupational therapy, hospice availability, a beauty salon, and responsive maintenance are highlighted as valuable supports. Several reviewers also commended the staff for proactive pandemic practices, allowing outdoor visits and implementing safety measures.

Dining and programming are recurring strengths. A number of reviews praise a wonderful chef and high-quality, well-prepared meals that residents enjoy. Social programming includes exercise classes, walks (e.g., along the Highline Canal), nightly movies, live music in the bistro, lunch outings, arts and crafts, puzzles, and special events such as holiday dinners and weekly happy hours. These elements contribute to a strong sense of community: reviewers frequently say residents are thriving, have improved mood and appetite, and form new friendships in the dining room and activity spaces.

Despite the overwhelmingly positive themes, several patterns of concern appear in the reviews and should be considered. Room size is a common caveat: while finishes are upscale, apartments are described as small by multiple reviewers. Price is also a consistent factor—this is a higher-end community and costs influenced some families' decisions. A few reviewers noted limited socialization opportunities in memory care specifically, observing that there are "few cognitively clear peers," which can reduce opportunities for mixed-level social engagement; others described activity offerings as still growing or not as extensive as expected.

There are isolated but serious negative reports that contrast sharply with the overall praise. Several reviews allege inadequate personal care, including a reported case of significant weight loss, hygiene neglect, and staff laziness. Separate comments accuse management or ownership of poor practices—cost-cutting at employees' expense, poor treatment of workers, and being a poorly run company. A small number of reviewers also reported staff on cell phones during shifts and inconsistent care quality across different stays or time periods. These negative accounts are relatively few compared with the volume of positive feedback, but they are severe enough that they merit direct follow-up by prospective residents and families.

In summary, Cherry Hills Assisted Living and Memory Care is widely viewed as a high-quality, upscale community with excellent food, thoughtful design, and a caring, stable staff—especially noted in memory care. The facility's positives (cleanliness, leadership, therapy services, hospice availability, and a lively social calendar) are frequently and enthusiastically reported. However, common drawbacks include smaller apartment sizes and higher cost, and there are a small number of concerning reports about inconsistent care and management practices that should not be ignored. Prospective families should weigh the strong majority of positive experiences against the isolated negative allegations, and when touring or interviewing staff, ask specific questions about room dimensions, pricing and fees, resident mix in memory care, staffing ratios and turnover, example activity calendars, hygiene and weight monitoring protocols, and how complaints or incidents are handled to ensure the community meets their needs.
