    Welcoming community; mom is thriving

I toured Katharine Johnson and felt immediately welcomed - the facility is beautiful, spotless, and resort-like. Staff are kind, experienced, and deeply attentive; my mom's move-in was smooth and she's thriving with excellent meals, varied activities (exercise, outings, bistro live music, movies), and on-site therapy. Leadership and maintenance are responsive, finances were transparent, and the community genuinely feels like family - I would recommend it.

    Summary of reviews

Cherry Hills Assisted Living and Memory Care presents as a newly built, upscale assisted living and memory-care community with strong emphasis on design and amenities. Multiple accounts describe bright, apartment-style rooms with large windows, high ceilings, and park-side views, and reviewers consistently describe the building and common areas as clean and well maintained. The property offers a range of on-site features—therapy spaces for physical and occupational therapy, a beauty salon, bistro-style dining, and organized outdoor access—that reinforce the resort-like atmosphere.

Care quality and staff performance are the most frequently praised aspects. Caregivers are commonly described as warm, compassionate, and attentive; families highlight personalized attention during move-in, coordinated care with hospice, and continuity from tenured staff and leadership. The memory-care team is repeatedly characterized as experienced and dedicated, and reviewers note good hospice coordination and responsiveness in many situations. At the same time, there are intermittent accounts alleging lapses in routine-care adherence and responsiveness; these suggest the facility should continue monitoring staffing practices and response protocols to sustain consistent care delivery.

Dining and activities are strong features for many residents. The dining program is described as chef-driven and restaurant-style, with elegant meals, bistro entertainment, and organized outings. Social programming includes exercise classes, nightly movie events, live music, and walks along nearby park trails; these offerings support socialization and improved resident mood in several reports. However, some feedback indicates that activity availability has been variable, particularly during early occupancy when programming and resident mix are still developing. Memory-care social engagement is sometimes limited by the current resident mix, which can reduce opportunities for cognitively appropriate peer interaction.

Operationally, families cite effective move-in support and generally good communication from staff and leadership, including proactive infection-control practices and flexible visitation when needed. The facility’s management and leadership receive positive mentions for stewardship and stability. Conversely, a subset of accounts raise concerns about staffing morale, managerial decisions that may affect frontline workers, and some operational gaps—specifically sanitation and nutritional-monitoring practices. These concerns appear less frequent than the positive comments but are significant and warrant direct inquiry by prospective families.

Overall assessment: Cherry Hills offers an upscale, well-appointed environment with strong clinical and social supports, particularly in dining, therapy services, and compassionate caregiving. Prospective residents and families who value design, amenities, and an engaged staff are likely to find it attractive. Before moving forward, families should ask targeted questions about pricing and contract terms, apartment square footage, current activity schedules and sample calendars for the memory-care neighborhood, staffing levels and turnover, specific protocols for nutrition monitoring and sanitation, and examples of how management addresses staff morale and isolated care concerns. These clarifications will help balance the facility’s clear strengths with the operational items raised in recent feedback.
