    Compassionate small cottage care, affordable

I moved my parent here and I'm grateful for the frequent, personal visits and truly loving, experienced caregivers-owner Laura and the CNAs are angels who go above and beyond. The small cottage feels like home rather than an institution, regulations are followed, residents are prioritized, and the amazing care comes at a very reasonable price with no nickel-and-diming-an almost perfect match for us.

    Summary of reviews

Reviewer accounts are polarized: many describe strong, personalized care in a small cottage setting, while others raise facility-level concerns following a change in ownership. Positive comments emphasize a family-style environment where experienced caregivers and the on-site owner provide attentive, above‑and‑beyond support at a price point families found reasonable and straightforward. This setting is portrayed as smaller and more familiar than larger institutional alternatives, which some families preferred for its individualized attention and frequent family visits.

Care quality is described in two contrasting ways. Supporters highlight compassionate, experienced staff who prioritize residents and deliver individualized assistance. Conversely, several accounts indicate inconsistency tied to staffing and operational changes: families noted that staffing levels and responsiveness can vary, and that higher-acuity or non‑ambulatory residents may face increased risk when caregiver coverage is thin.

Staffing and workforce issues are a recurring theme. Many comments praise particular caregivers and name‑level leadership for hands-on involvement, but others point to high turnover, heavy workloads, and concerns about caregiver compensation. These workforce pressures are reported to affect both continuity of care and the tone of day-to-day interactions, producing variability in staff communication and responsiveness.

There is limited detailed information about dining and activities in the reviews provided. Reviewers did note a home-like atmosphere that can support personalized engagement and frequent family contact; however, specifics about meal quality, menus, or organized activity programming were not consistently described. The facility’s small scale suggests opportunities for individualized activity plans, but prospective families should confirm the presence and regularity of structured programming during a tour.

Facility and safety considerations reflect the mix of feedback. The cottage-style layout is perceived as comforting and less institutional, yet concerns about insufficient staffing for certain resident mixes (for example, several non‑mobile residents under one caregiver) indicate potential safety and transfer‑assistance gaps. Families should evaluate current staffing ratios, transfer protocols, and emergency-response practices relative to a prospective resident’s acuity.

Management and operational patterns are a prominent concern. Several reviewers associated declines in consistency and staff morale with a recent ownership change, noting leadership and administrative stability as areas for scrutiny. Given the polarized experiences, prospective residents and families are advised to ask specific questions about current staffing levels, turnover rates, staff training, and how the facility matches services to residents who require higher levels of clinical support.

Overall, the facility is described by many as offering warm, personalized care in a small, reasonable-cost environment, but there are clear and repeated operational concerns that merit careful review. The most important considerations for families are current staffing practices, the facility’s ability to serve the resident’s clinical needs, and direct observation of staff–resident interactions during a visit.

    About Freedom Home Assisted Living

Freedom Home Assisted Living sits in Colorado Springs and offers senior care for people needing help with daily living like bathing, dressing, or medication reminders, and there's memory care for folks with Alzheimer's or dementia too, which is important because sometimes people need just a little help now and then and sometimes they need more, so residents can choose how much help they want while keeping their independence. This place only has space for eight residents, which helps create a warm, family-type feel because people get to know each other, and the community stays close. All apartments come furnished, and there are options like studios, one-bedroom, two-bedroom, shared, and semi-private rooms with kitchenettes in some, plus rooms have cable TV, internet, and telephone service, so everyone can stay connected and comfortable, and visitors can park on-site and even join for guest meals. The staff includes personal care assistants, part-time nurses, and trained caregivers for dementia, and they also coordinate with doctors to be sure medical needs get met and carry out things like medication administration or even psychiatric care, so you don't have to worry about little things slipping through the cracks. Meals get served in a community dining room but people can eat in their rooms if they want, and the kitchen can handle special diets like diabetic, vegetarian, low salt, low fat, renal, or gluten-free meals-people with allergies or special needs can let them know. Everyone can join daily activities like arts and crafts, music, games, book clubs, exercise programs, movie nights, gardening, and even trips outside the facility, and for those who enjoy more spiritual or emotional care, there are religious services, support during big changes, and therapy options including occupational and physical therapy, chair yoga, rehab, and fitness classes. Outside, residents relax on patios or in the gardens, and walking paths make for good strolls, which is a nice change of pace. Staff take care of housekeeping, laundry, and dry cleaning, which saves trouble, and they help arrange transportation for medical trips or shopping when needed. Residents get 24-hour supervision, and the emergency alert systems help people feel secure, and visitors can stay for guest meals or join small gatherings. The whole place is licensed by the state (license 23G551), accepts payment by insurance, check, or credit card, and offers an all-inclusive rate, so billing's straightforward. Some pets are allowed, but there are rules about that, and there's no big marketing talk here, just a promise that residents get greeted with a smile and enough personal attention to feel comfortable and part of the group-because with only eight people, it's easy for everyone to know each other's name. The community's family-owned and family-run, which shapes the caring atmosphere, and the team really tries to help everyone live comfortably, feel independent, and keep busy with meaningful activities.
