    Friendly, safe, welcoming senior living

I live here and have been very pleased - the staff are consistently friendly, helpful, and attentive, and move-in support was excellent. The community feels homey and safe: very clean, well-maintained grounds, a full activities calendar, and on-site amenities like a salon and fitness room. Dining is enjoyable and presented restaurant-style, and I've made many friends. I'd recommend this welcoming, caring place to others.

    Summary of reviews

Mountain View Independent Living receives consistently positive feedback on its staff, community feel, and range of onsite amenities. Many families and residents describe staff as friendly, attentive and helpful — with specific praise for executive and community-relations staff, move-in support, and a general impression that employees care about resident wellbeing. Maintenance is often described as responsive and effective, and the property’s grounds and common areas are repeatedly characterized as clean and well-maintained. The campus offers substantial amenities (salon/barber, convenience store, bank, fitness rooms, library, TV room, walking paths) and housing options that include cottage- and townhouse-style layouts that residents find home-like.

Dining and activities are central strengths for numerous residents: the community runs a full activity calendar with frequent social events, opportunities for peer interaction, and organized recreation. Food service is a major selling point for many: several reviews praise multiple chefs, nutritious offerings, and restaurant-style presentation with three meals daily included. Transportation to medical appointments and flexible scheduling for services are also cited as useful features.

However, reviewers also describe several operational inconsistencies that prospective residents should consider. Dining quality and menu variety are uneven across accounts — while some residents describe outstanding meals, others find the food unsatisfactory or insufficiently tailored to specific nutritional needs. Housekeeping and sanitation standards are generally positive but appear inconsistent in a subset of reports, and there are isolated pest-control concerns that prospective residents may want to inquire about. Maintenance responsiveness, while often timely, is described as variable by some families, and in-unit laundry is limited (many residents rely on shared laundry facilities rather than washers/dryers in each cottage).

More serious concerns raised by a small number of reviewers relate to emergency response and operational coordination. A few reviews describe extended delays in attending to a resident after an incident and instances of canceled transportation or front-desk gaps; these comments suggest potential weaknesses in emergency protocols, communication, and front-desk staffing or building security coverage. Management and leadership are praised in many accounts, but the coexistence of strong leadership feedback with noted operational lapses indicates variability between shifts or units, and some areas are undergoing renovation.

For families evaluating Mountain View Independent Living, the balance of feedback suggests a community with strong interpersonal care, robust amenities, and an active social life, paired with some operational inconsistencies to probe further. Recommended questions for a tour or meeting include: how emergency response and incident follow-up are documented and escalated; what pest-control and housekeeping protocols are in place; the expected maintenance response timeline; laundry options for specific housing types; front-desk staffing hours and building security procedures; and how menu variety and therapeutic nutrition needs are accommodated. These inquiries can help clarify whether the facility’s strengths align with a prospective resident’s priorities and risk tolerance.

    About Mountain View Independent Living

Mountain View Independent Living sits in the Cheyenne Mountain Ranch area of Colorado Springs and offers independent living for seniors who value their freedom and want less work around the house. The building has a single-story, open floor plan, which makes moving around safer and easier for everyone, especially with secure doors and a monitored fire system running all the time. Residents live in roomy studio, one-bedroom, or two-bedroom private apartments, each with their own private bathroom, full kitchen or kitchenette, and options for a porch, balcony, or sitting area. The apartments come maintenance-free-no yard work or repairs-and have extra nice touches like air conditioning, cable TV, Wi-Fi, and the chance to bring in personal furniture or pets. Mountain View Independent Living has both cottages and villas, furnished or unfurnished, with storage and closet space, plus private mailboxes and a reliable refrigerator in every home, so residents can stay comfortable on their own terms.

The community gives a lot of choices for activities, which range from walking on garden paths and attending movie nights to group exercise like dance fitness, Tai Chi, and chair exercises. Residents get involved in trivia games, musical events, gardening, spiritual gatherings-including church and Catholic services-and a lot of intergenerational and creative programs like arts and crafts, sports, and lawn games. Inside, there's a library, activity room, game room, arts room, movie theater, wellness spa, and laundry room. Outside, there's a private courtyard, walking paths, and plenty of secure common space for reading, relaxing, or meeting up with others. There are planned outings, field trips, and transportation for errands, events, or medical appointments, plus parking spots for residents, guests, and visiting family members. Residents can have family or friends stay overnight and sometimes attend events together.

Meal times give everyone options, as the community serves family-style breakfast and lunch with a professional chef preparing dishes from Mondays through Fridays, and the kitchen is open for use if a resident wants to do their own cooking, especially if they have special diets to follow. Meal delivery is available for residents who prefer to dine in their apartments, and there are planned shopping trips for additional groceries. Staff members offer light housekeeping, laundry, cleaning support, groundskeeping, and maintenance, plus help with medication, physical therapy, and other health-related services if residents need it. There's a hair salon and barbershop on-site, a mobile library service, and easy access to mail delivery.

Safety and wellness are big priorities, with a gated and secure entrance, emergency preparedness plans, controlled building access, and a caring staff trained in ethics, resident rights, and monitoring for abuse or neglect. Same-day assessments help new residents settle in, and the staff can help with the move-in process and answer questions. The team is always nearby in case anyone needs something, but otherwise, residents live at their own pace, choosing what to join based on personal interests.

Mountain View Independent Living accepts private pay, checks, credit cards, and VA benefits for all-inclusive rent, but does not take Medicaid. The location is within minutes of hospitals, doctors, parks, dining, and shops. The community accepts visiting pets and lets residents care for their own pets, as long as they're able to handle that responsibility. There are no meals included; instead, there are many ways for residents to cook or heat up food in their own kitchens, and staff provide support if anyone needs it. Tours are available for people wanting to meet residents and see what daily life is like. There's always someone on hand to explain how things work, from the Meta and Facebook groups for events, to the way the community organizes activities and outings, and to make sure everyone gets the chance to connect and stay active if they want to.
