    Compassionate staff but inconsistent care

I have mixed feelings. At times the leadership, therapists and many nurses/CNAs are compassionate, responsive, and the building shows real improvement with activities and repairs, but I also saw serious lapses-unclean rooms and bathrooms, unbathed or soiled residents, ignored call lights, absent or distracted staff and unsafe incidents. Management sometimes responds, yet the inconsistency means I would monitor closely before trusting them with a loved one.

    Summary review

Overall impression: The review summaries present a highly polarized and mixed picture of Ridgeview Post Acute Rehabilitation Center. A substantial subset of reviewers describe the facility positively—highlighting an excellent physical therapy and rehab team, compassionate nursing staff, a supportive administrator (often named), ongoing capital improvements, pleasant outdoor spaces, active programming, and a warm, family-like community. At the same time, a strong and recurring set of negative reports raises urgent concerns about cleanliness, neglect, safety, staffing consistency, and transparency. These two patterns suggest either significant variability across units and shifts, changes over time (notably since new management and renovations began), or conflicting experiences among different cohorts (short-term rehab vs long-term residents). Prospective residents and families should treat the picture as mixed and investigate recent, local, and shift-specific conditions before deciding.

Care quality and clinical staffing: Many reviews praise individual clinicians and the therapy team for skillful rehabilitation and good outcomes, with specific mention of helpful guidance with walkers and stairs. Several accounts state that nurses and CNAs are caring and attentive, and that leadership includes a well-disciplined nursing leader. Conversely, a number of severe allegations detail neglectful care: residents reportedly left unbathed, left in soiled clothing or feces for extended periods, call lights ignored, and in at least one instance a patient was reportedly sent to the hospital without clothes. Some reviewers explicitly claim there are no licensed nurses on site at times and describe insufficient clinical oversight. These conflicting reports point to inconsistency in care delivery—excellent care at times, but intermittent and potentially dangerous lapses on others.

Staff behavior and workplace culture: Multiple narratives describe staff who genuinely care, feel supported, and enjoy working at the facility, which aligns with positive accounts of a family-like community and staff-resident relationships. However, recurring negative themes include inattentive staff (on phones, not responding), staff absence during altercations, threats made after hire, and a perception of staff working for a paycheck rather than from compassion. There are also reports of management responses that are apologetic but do not always result in discernible action according to some reviewers. The presence of both positive workplace sentiments and critical claims suggests a mixed internal culture—possibly improving under new management but not uniformly experienced.

Facility condition and maintenance: Several reviewers note that Ridgeview is an older facility that has been undergoing visible repairs and upgrades: roof work, sprinkler and gutter repairs, painting, window and HVAC upgrades planned or in progress, and generally improved outdoor landscaping. These capital improvements are repeatedly praised and appear to be a recent, concrete positive trend. At the same time, multiple reviews describe filthy conditions, unsanitary floors and bathrooms, and unfinished construction areas that appear to contribute to care disruptions. Construction-related disruption is mentioned as affecting the resident experience, and the parking lot is described as outgrown, with handicap spots sometimes misused.

Safety, incidents, and complaint handling: Serious safety concerns appear in several summaries: aggressive or angry patients, staff not present to intervene during altercations, and allegations of neglect and improper transfers. Families threatened to report the facility to the health department in at least one account. There are also claims that staff lied about meals or that complaints were not acted upon despite management replies. Conversely, some reviewers report good incident management and resolution by management. Additionally, there are troubling comments suggesting possible manipulation of reputation (allegations of bribery or fake positive reviews), which undermines the reliability of the overall review mix and suggests due diligence is warranted.

Dining and activities: Dining and activities elicit mostly positive feedback from many reviewers: cafeteria staff called awesome, good activities for residents, and programming that invites resident participation. However, there are a few complaints about meal discrepancies and poor meal quality. Overall, activities and social programming appear to be a relative strength for the facility according to multiple accounts.

Patterns and likely explanations: The distribution of reviews suggests either a transition phase or inconsistency across time and staff. Several reviewers praise visible changes under new management and mention renovation projects and improved leadership, suggesting that many of the positive reports reflect more recent improvements. The negative reviews frequently emphasize unsanitary conditions, neglect, and serious incidents that represent critical care and safety issues. This combination could indicate that Ridgeview is in the process of remediation and that some long-standing problems remain or that experiences vary widely depending on unit, shift, or staff assignment.

Recommendations for families and decision-making: Because the reviews are polarized and include several severe allegations, families should perform targeted verification before placement. Recommended actions include: visit the facility multiple times including evenings/weekends; ask to see recent health inspection reports and any corrective action plans; inquire about licensed nurse coverage and staffing ratios; ask what has changed under new management and request evidence of completed upgrades; meet the therapy team and the administrator; tour resident bathrooms and common areas for cleanliness; ask how complaints are tracked and resolved; and request references from current families. If safety or sanitation concerns are suspected, consider contacting the state health department or ombudsman for independent verification.

Bottom line: Ridgeview has many attributes that reviewers appreciate—excellent therapists, caring staff in numerous reports, active renovations, and a strong community feel. However, multiple reports describe alarming neglect and unsanitary conditions that pose safety risks. There is evidence of improvement and strong leadership in some accounts, but the presence of severe negative reports and alleged reputation manipulation means prospective residents and families should investigate current conditions carefully and verify corrective actions before making a placement decision.
