    Clean, caring, pricey, poor memory-care

I loved the small, home-like Serenity Homes - very clean, well-run, and the staff were consistently kind, compassionate and well-trained; the owner's fitness emphasis and personalized care plans helped my mom feel happy and safe. The place is expensive ($4,600/mo), rooms are small with shared bathrooms, there were some administrative delays, and TV is Netflix/YouTube only. Food was mixed - my mom sometimes complained about repetitive meals though others praised the home-cooked food and activities. Overall excellent for many residents, but they weren't equipped for my mom's advancing memory-care needs (assessment missed this and we experienced wandering), so it wasn't the right fit for us.

    Summary review

Overall impression: Reviews for Assured Serenity Assisted Living 17 are strongly weighted toward very positive experiences, particularly around staff quality, individualized attention, and the home‑like atmosphere. Many reviewers specifically praise the warmth, compassion, and professionalism of caregivers and note visible improvements in residents' wellbeing. The community is small and residential in character, which several families identified as a major benefit: it supports personalized care plans and closer relationships between staff and residents.

Care quality and staff: The most consistent theme across reviews is the high regard for the staff. Multiple reviewers call the staff kind, compassionate, delightful, and knowledgeable. There are repeated mentions of well‑trained and exemplary caregivers who handle difficult situations calmly and competently. The owner being a physical therapist and the programmatic emphasis on fitness are highlighted as differentiators that contribute to physical care and activity programming. Several reviewers said their loved ones were happy, content, and receiving fantastic day‑to‑day care; some observed concrete improvements in health or mood after moving in.

Facilities and living spaces: The facility is described as clean, well‑kept, and truly home‑like. However, space constraints are an oft‑mentioned drawback: private bedrooms are available but some are described as small or cramped, and private rooms may share a bathroom. The small scale of the home is a strength for personalized attention but can mean less spacious rooms and fewer specialized spaces than larger communities.

Dining and activities: Food receives mixed feedback. Many reviewers praise delicious, home‑cooked meals and use words like "fantastic"; at the same time, a number of comments note repetitive menu items or specific complaints from residents about particular meals. Activities occur and are appreciated (including occasional field trips), but they are described as occasional rather than extensive. Technology/entertainment setup is limited in at least one report — no live TV, with programming limited to Netflix and YouTube — which may matter for residents accustomed to conventional cable or live news channels.

Management, admissions, and limitations: While most accounts emphasize compassionate and responsive caregiving, a few reviews raise concerns about administrative issues and fit. There are isolated reports of rude or unprofessional behavior and delays in administrative matters. More significantly, several reviewers indicate that the home is not a good fit for residents with higher or specialized needs (notably advanced Alzheimer's/memory care). One reviewer said the initial assessment lacked depth, the staff determined they could not meet the resident's care needs, and advised finding another placement — there were even reported wandering incidents prompting an eventual move to another facility. These comments suggest variability in how well the community handles more complex care levels and point to the importance of a thorough pre‑admission assessment.

Cost and suitability: Price is noted as relatively high (one quoted figure was $4,600/month), and reviewers explicitly described the community as expensive. Given the combination of strong personalized care and limited physical space/specialized services, the home appears best suited for residents who will benefit from close, individualized attention, a small, family‑style setting, and a focus on fitness and companionship. It is less appropriate for people with advanced dementia, high fall/wandering risk, or complex medical needs that require higher clinical staffing or secure memory‑care environments.

Conclusion: In summary, Assured Serenity Assisted Living 17 receives broadly positive feedback for its caring staff, cleanliness, individualized care plans, and home‑like environment. The owner’s clinical background and fitness emphasis add notable strengths. Prospective families should weigh those positives against limited room sizes, occasional administrative issues, mixed meal feedback, restricted entertainment options, and important limitations around advanced memory care and higher‑acuity needs. A careful, detailed pre‑admission assessment and frank discussion with management about a prospective resident’s specific needs will help determine whether this small, attentive community is the right fit.
