    Classy cozy spacious senior living

I'm thrilled with this upscale, clean, well-maintained senior living community - classy, cozy, spacious, and my father is genuinely happy. Meals and dining service are excellent, and the staff are compassionate, attentive and respectful (special thanks to Stefanie, Kristen, Cooper and Rhea); housekeeping and front desk were wonderful and kept us updated through the relocation. My only gripe was a fogged/steam-like window with a hazy view in the apartment, but the personalized care, activities and supportive environment make this the BEST - five stars aren't enough; highly recommended.

    Summary review

Overall sentiment across the reviews for The Winslow Independent Living is strongly positive, with multiple reviewers emphasizing exceptional staff, high-quality care, pleasant living spaces, and excellent dining. The most consistent theme is the caliber of the people who work there: reviewers repeatedly described staff as compassionate, tireless, attentive, kind, respectful, and supportive. Several specific staff members (Stefanie, Kristen, Cooper, Rhea) were named and praised, and front desk and housekeeping teams were frequently highlighted. Reviewers reported that staff kept families informed and helped with major transitions such as relocation decisions, which indicates reliable communication and family-focused service.

Care quality and staff interactions are a primary strength. Phrases like “personalized care and attention,” “supportive and nurturing environment,” and “high-quality care and support” appear throughout the summaries. Many reviewers explicitly credited staff for creating a warm, respectful atmosphere and making residents and families feel comfortable. Comments such as “extremely sweet and kind staff,” “BEST, 5 stars not enough,” and “amazing staff” underscore widespread high satisfaction with direct caregiving and customer service.

Facilities and atmosphere are also described positively. The building and common areas are described as clean, well maintained, spacious, and well designed. Several reviewers used words like “classy,” “comfortable,” “cozy,” and “upscale” to characterize the ambiance. These impressions are reinforced by praise for the dining program — multiple reviewers called the meals excellent and referred to upscale dining service. Taken together, these points portray The Winslow as a community that combines good physical facilities with high-caliber service and hospitality.

Community life and programming received affirmative mentions as well. Reviewers indicated a vibrant community experience and available activities, and advised prospective residents to visit multiple facilities to find the ‘personality’ that suits them best. This suggests The Winslow offers a distinctive community culture that resonates strongly with many residents, and that variability among options is a normal consideration when evaluating senior living choices.

The most substantive negative comment centers on a maintenance/ventilation issue: one reviewer reported failed apartment windows that resulted in condensation, a hazy view outwards, and a “steam-room-like” interior feel. This is a specific, actionable concern about building envelope or ventilation that stands out because almost no other complaints were recorded. The scarcity of other negatives suggests this was an isolated but important issue; prospective residents should inquire about recent maintenance work, window replacements, or HVAC/ventilation upgrades when touring.

In summary, the reviews paint The Winslow Independent Living as a highly recommended, well-run community characterized by exceptional staff, strong family communication, appealing physical spaces, and very good dining. Most feedback is overwhelmingly positive, with staff and service quality repeatedly emphasized. The single clear area for follow-up is the reported window/ventilation defect in an apartment; while that appears to be an isolated maintenance issue, it is worth verifying during a visit. Overall, reviewers highly endorse The Winslow and many explicitly recommend it to others.

    About The Winslow Independent Living

The Winslow Independent Living, run by Columbine Health Systems, sits on Centre Avenue in Fort Collins, Colorado, and offers a place where seniors who want some company and convenience can find both in a quiet three-story building. Residents at The Winslow enjoy mornings with a hot breakfast and evenings with a full dinner, both made right in the dining room, and folks can grab a homemade cookie in the front lobby or a drink any time from the 24/7 beverage center, which is always stocked. The apartments, which come as studios, one-bedroom, or two-bedroom suites, have kitchens or kitchenettes with full-size refrigerators, microwaves, and dishwashers, plus patios or balconies for a bit of fresh air, and the bathrooms and closets are pretty generous, while every apartment has an emergency pull cord and a thermostat that residents can control themselves.

Maintenance, weekly housekeeping, personal laundry, and linen services mean residents don't have to fuss over chores, and the staff-known for being friendly and helpful-are around 24 hours a day, which is a comfort for those who want a bit of security without giving up privacy. The Winslow isn't a busy, crowded place, but it does have plenty going on: there's always a calendar full of activities, educational programs, health and wellness offerings, arts and crafts, card games, outings to nearby places, and parties for holidays and birthdays in the dining room or Town Hall, which even has a dance floor for bigger get-togethers or the special Champagne Banquet events they put on every few months. Residents who like hobbies or reading can visit the full library, country store, or join events in the activity or game rooms, and there's even a salon and barbershop on-site, so folks can stay comfortable and social without leaving the building unless they want to. Van transportation helps residents get to shopping, appointments, and scenic drives around Fort Collins, and there's guest parking and even guest apartments for visitors needing to stay overnight.

The Winslow supports an independent lifestyle, but if a resident wants some help-maybe a personal care assistant or using long-term care insurance options-that's available too. Every part of the building, including the laundry rooms and safety features, supports older adults who want freedom and peace of mind. Residents say the food's good, the activities are interesting, the staff's always kind, and most folks here find it's easy to meet new friends to share meals, outings, and good conversation. The Winslow has received some recognition for its friendly staff and care, and just about everyone can decorate their suite as they like, so it really does feel like home, only with a few extra comforts, some friendly neighbors, and less to worry about.
