    Beautiful facility but care lapses

I moved my mom to MeadowView and I'm torn: the facility and memory-care neighborhood are beautiful, tours were impressive, and many staff (Michelle/Rebecca/Ericka/Brenda included) are kind, knowledgeable about dementia and very attentive - activities, calm atmosphere and roomy apartments felt like home. But I've seen troubling care lapses: meals often cold/unappetizing and not adapted for memory care, meds missed or incorrect per pharmacy, poor monitoring (even a urine-soaked resident), delayed labs/unnamed samples and an infection left untreated that preceded a fall and hip fracture. Maintenance and housekeeping need attention (water damage, ripped carpet, exterior wear), and chronic understaffing and spotty communication from administration are real concerns. Bottom line: wonderful people and setting, but verify clinical oversight, staffing and dining/maintenance before you commit.

    Summary review

Overall sentiment in the reviews is mixed but leans positive about frontline caregivers and the physical environment while raising serious concerns about medical oversight, staffing reliability, and management/maintenance. Across dozens of summaries there is a consistent pattern: families and residents overwhelmingly praise the direct care staff — caregivers, activities personnel, therapists and many nursing staff — describing them as kind, attentive, dementia-knowledgeable, and often able to create personalized comfort (for example rearranging rooms to reduce agitation). The memory care unit in particular earns frequent commendations for cleanliness, calm atmosphere, safety and engaged staff. The community’s mountain-lodge aesthetics, spacious apartments, large public spaces and amenities (salon, billiards, movie area, enclosed courtyard) are repeatedly cited as strengths that create a resort-like, welcoming feeling for many residents.

Activities and social life are commonly listed as bright spots. Multiple reviewers note a robust calendar, creative engagement in memory care, ambassadors/volunteers, and activities staff who connect with residents. Many families say their loved ones are active, happy and feel at home. Admissions and tour staff also receive high marks for helpfulness and clear tours; some reviewers describe exceptionally smooth transitions and compassionate move-in support. Physical therapy and rehabilitation experiences are positive in numerous accounts, and some meals and dining moments (BBQ ribs, blueberry cheesecake, restaurant-style dining) are singled out as very good.

However, the reviews also reveal significant variability and some severe negative incidents that warrant careful attention. A recurring theme is staffing instability: skeleton crews, high turnover, and frequent use of management to fill shifts. These issues correlate with reports of missed medications, delayed lab results, poor wound care, and even dangerous lapses — examples include a fall where a resident was reportedly found after hours leading to hip fracture and concussion, delayed treatment of infection, and alleged medication errors noted by pharmacy reports. Several reviewers explicitly stated the facility cannot or did not provide 24-hour skilled nursing care and that, at times, nursing oversight was insufficient. These are serious safety concerns that contrast sharply with the otherwise positive impressions of caregiving staff.

Facility maintenance and housekeeping come up as mixed. Many reviewers praise clean, odor-free rooms and well-kept memory care; others describe water-damaged ceilings, ripped carpets, exterior paint/shutter problems and public spaces that look uncared-for or “trashy.” Dining quality is similarly inconsistent: while some families rave about restaurant-style service and specific meals, others report cold, unappetizing food, meals taken offsite to substandard restaurants, and failure to modify meals appropriately for memory-care residents. Laundry and housekeeping staffing shortages are reported, which can contribute to inconsistent cleanliness and resident comfort.

Management and communication are polarizing topics. Numerous families praise specific administrators, coordinators and activity directors by name for being supportive and proactive. Yet a sizable number of reviews criticize management for poor communication, unresponsiveness, perceived profit-driven decisions, rude reception staff, failure to follow up after adverse events, and lack of condolences after resident deaths. There are also reports of billing concerns or being charged for hospital/rehab care in the context of incidents that occurred while under MeadowView’s supervision. Several reviewers advise prospective residents to verify availability, 24-hour care policies, and exact staffing levels.

In short, MeadowView of Greeley receives strong and repeated praise for its caregiving staff, memory care quality, apartment space and resort-style atmosphere, as well as for activities and certain on-site amenities. At the same time, the reviews reveal systemic weaknesses in staffing stability, medical oversight and some aspects of facility upkeep and management communication. These weaknesses have, in a minority of accounts, resulted in serious adverse outcomes. Prospective residents and families should weigh the consistently positive day-to-day caregiving and community life against documented concerns about clinical responsiveness and maintenance; when touring or evaluating MeadowView, insist on clear, written answers about nurse coverage, medication management protocols, fall response times, staffing ratios on each shift, maintenance plans, and billing policies. If memory care or assisted living is being considered, ask for references from families currently in the specific unit you are considering and verify recent incident reporting and corrective actions taken by management.
