    Warm community, but concerning abuses

I love the intimate, warm atmosphere - friendly, attentive staff (Jack stood out), clean rooms and grounds, quaint dining room, reliable meds/housekeeping/laundry, and tons of activities (bingo, music, arts & crafts, outings, yoga) that my relative enjoys. That said, I witnessed abusive behavior in Building B - dementia patient mistreatment, harassment/mocking, threats, and even being told relatives had died; there are odd restrictions (couldn't always walk a dog) and a smoke odor near some doors. It's great for minimal-care residents and social engagement, but it's an older facility with small rooms and is expensive/not Medicaid-eligible. I'd recommend it if you can afford it - just confirm staff and building placement first.

    Summary review

Overall sentiment in the reviews for Cinnamon Park is mixed but leans positive on everyday resident life, programming, and many staff interactions, while simultaneously containing very serious, localized allegations of abuse that materially affect the facility's overall evaluation. Multiple reviewers praise the facility’s friendliness, attentiveness, and the personal relationships staff build with residents and family members. Operational strengths repeatedly mentioned include reliable medication distribution, regular housekeeping (room cleaning, bedding changes), and laundry service. Reviewers consistently note a wide range of activities — bingo, musical entertainment, arts & crafts, exercise and yoga classes, and outings to local parks and theaters — which support an engaged social environment appropriate for residents who need minimal care. The community's small size, absence of stairs, intimate dining room, pleasant grounds, and accessible location are commonly cited as appealing features that contribute to a warm, home-like atmosphere.

Staff receive a great deal of praise in many summaries: described as kind, helpful, compassionate, and supportive, with some individual staff members singled out for exceptional contributions (one reviewer calls 'Jack' a hero, others note staff who provided life-saving help during COVID or offered tech support). Several reviewers emphasize that staff remember residents by name and maintain friendly chats, which reinforces the sense of personalized care. The facility’s programming and social offerings are strong assets — reviewers repeatedly highlight frequent entertainment, outings, and exercise classes that keep residents active and socially engaged.

However, the reviews also include significant negative reports that cannot be ignored. A number of summaries describe severe mistreatment focused in Building B: alleged abuse of a dementia patient, harassment, mocking, and even statements that staff told the resident false information about relatives dying. There are claims of staff threatening to call police and of restricting a resident’s ability to leave to walk a dog. These allegations suggest potential issues with staff training, supervision, and dementia-specific care protocols in at least part of the facility. Importantly, several reviewers frame these incidents as isolated to a portion of the building, and note that there are some compassionate staff members who are helpful, but the contrast between generally positive staff comments and these severe accusations points to inconsistency in staff behavior and oversight.

Facility-related pros and cons are mixed. Many reviewers praise the cleanliness of the facility and rooms, the pleasant grounds, and the excellent food served in a quaint dining room. At the same time, Cinnamon Park is described as an older facility with small private and shared rooms; private rooms can be expensive, and several reviewers note affordability as a barrier and state that the facility does not accept Medicaid. A waiting list appears to be common, which indicates demand but also delays for prospective residents. Minor physical complaints such as a smoke odor outside a door were noted by some reviewers, suggesting occasional maintenance or environmental issues.

In patterns across reviews, three themes stand out: strong social programming and daily operational services; generally kind and dedicated staff with a handful of highly praised employees; and a troubling, specific set of allegations about mistreatment and poor care in part of the facility. If evaluating Cinnamon Park in person or on behalf of a loved one, these reviews suggest it is worthwhile to verify the positive operational aspects (medication management, housekeeping, activities, dining) while also asking direct, specific questions about dementia-care protocols, staff training and supervision, incident reporting, and any corrective actions taken regarding the complaints in Building B. Prospective residents and families should tour multiple parts of the facility, request references from current families, ask about staff turnover and background checks, and inquire about costs, private-room rates, and payment/Medicaid policies to get a balanced, up-to-date picture beyond these reviews.

Bottom line: Cinnamon Park appears to offer a compassionate, activity-rich environment for many residents, particularly those needing minimal care, with many staff who provide personalized attention and reliable daily services. However, the presence of serious abuse allegations localized to a portion of the building and reported inconsistencies in staff behavior are red flags that warrant careful, specific follow-up before making a placement decision.

    About Cinnamon Park

Cinnamon Park is an assisted living community in Longmont, Colorado, owned and operated by Senior Housing Options. This place has 48 studio apartments across two buildings, and they're available for adults aged 62 and older, with Medicaid and private pay options. Some apartments upstairs are leased to staff members, and the central bathrooms were recently upgraded. The facility sits in a quiet, residential neighborhood and looks a bit like a large, comfortable single-family home, with updated carpet, furnishings, lighting, and décor to help residents feel welcome. The grounds are landscaped for relaxation, walks, barbecues, garden parties, and family visits, and there are productive gardens where residents can help grow fruits, vegetables, and herbs that often end up in daily meals.

Cinnamon Park offers assisted living services around the clock for seniors who need help with daily activities like bathing, dressing, housekeeping, and medication management, and there's trained medical staff available as needed. The community provides an active social calendar, regular bus outings, group activities in common rooms, and personal wellness programs designed to keep everyone engaged, mentally sharp, and connected to others. There are also chances for gardening, learning, and music, with common spaces set aside for gatherings, luncheons, and holiday parties. Subsidy options are available for low-income residents, and the application process asks for paperwork, in-person and doctor's assessments, plus a tour of the facility. Trini Lopez, who's been part of the community since 1993, manages Cinnamon Park and leads a team that tries to create a supportive, safe, and resident-centered environment that values independence, choice, security, and well-being. Private parking is available near the property for visitors and staff, and the community doesn't have a waitlist for its units.
