    Excellent care, thefts and distance

I'm very satisfied with the excellent food, attentive care, clean orderly room, plenty of activities, and caring physical therapy staff. However personal items have disappeared despite labeling, staff attitudes and high turnover, poor communication about events, and a seeming lack of accountability are worrying. The facility is also far from family and hard to visit around work, so I have mixed feelings.

    Summary review

Overall sentiment across the reviews is mixed but leans positive with important operational and communication concerns. Multiple reviewers consistently praise the quality of clinical care: comments describe care as excellent, residents feeling well treated, and physical therapy staff as caring and encouraging. These points suggest that hands-on clinical services and rehabilitation receive strong marks. Reviewers also note that rooms are clean and orderly and that the facility is not overcrowded, which contributes to a generally comfortable living environment.

Dining and activities are other clear strengths. Several reviewers explicitly call out good, excellent, or great food, indicating a reliable dining program that satisfies many residents. The activities program is described as having plenty of options, so social and engagement opportunities appear to be available and appreciated. Taken together, care quality, rehabilitation support, and programming/dining form the core positives in these summaries.

However, a number of operational and staff-related issues recur and temper the positive impressions. Communication about upcoming events is singled out as poor, which undermines residents' ability to participate and families' ability to stay informed. Reviewers also report negative staff comments or attitudes and note high staff turnover; this combination suggests inconsistency in staff-resident interactions and potential cultural or management problems that could affect continuity of care and resident experience.

A significant and recurring concern is loss or disappearance of personal items. Multiple summaries mention missing belongings and ineffective labeling practices, with reviewers expressing worry about accountability and possible mismanagement. This issue stands out because it affects residents' sense of safety and trust in the facility and is linked in the reviews to frustration with staff responses and a perceived lack of follow-through when items go missing.

Practical access issues are present as well. Some reviewers note that the facility is a long distance from their homes and that visiting can be difficult due to work schedules, which may not reflect the facility's performance but will affect family satisfaction and engagement. In summary, Friendship Manor appears to deliver strong clinical care, good meals, and solid programming, but it needs to address communication gaps, staff attitude and retention, and the security/management of personal belongings to improve overall satisfaction and trust among residents and families.

    About Friendship Manor

Friendship Manor is a skilled nursing facility in Nashville, IL, that takes care of residents who need daily medical help or help after surgery, illness, or a hospital stay and, while it's got some upsides like on-site therapy and a friendly environment, the place has had its share of problems, like getting cited for not following infection controls, not doing enough to protect people from abuse or neglect, and having state and federal standard violations, along with a high nurse turnover rate where over half the nurses end up leaving, which can make things harder for people living there. The average daily population is around 56, though Friendship Manor has a capacity of 120 certified beds, with 63 beds open in June 2025, and it's licensed by the state as a for-profit partnership, not part of a CCRC. Residents get 2.88 nurse hours per person each day, and there's both skilled and long-term nursing care, behavioral and wound care management, inpatient services, and memory care for dementia and Alzheimer's, plus hospice and palliative care. Folks can use Medicare, Medicaid, insurance, VA benefits, and pay by check, while the place offers a bunch of in-house help, including aides for daily tasks, medication help, physical, occupational, and respiratory therapies, as well as visits from therapists and all-day supervised care with a 24-hour call system. You'd see laundry, dry cleaning, meal preparation by a professional chef, restaurant-style and all-day dining, special diet menus, room service, and a choice to eat in community dining spaces, plus private bathrooms, kitchenettes, air conditioning, telephones, cable TV, and high-speed WiFi in rooms. Pets like cats and dogs are allowed, and residents take part in music groups, gardening, arts and crafts, book clubs, scheduled games, movie nights, fitness and wellness programs, and there's a little spa and therapy center too, so there's a good bit to do if you want to keep busy. There's also outdoor patios, walking paths, community gardens, family and resident councils, in-house religious services, haircuts and barbering, a library, transportation and parking, and free rides to appointments or outings, and the staff tries to create a family-style setting, even though the inspection reports show violations for elder abuse and infection control that raise concerns you should know about. They do answer to residents and their families with meetings, and there are options for adult day care, respite, and rehabilitation in a modern facility with new equipment and supplies, and they say care is personalized for every resident, family member, or visitor, even as they work to address their care deficits. You can find the facility on Facebook and other Meta platforms, where they post updates, and while the place offers many amenities and activities, including personal aides and memory support services, families should be aware of the history of citations and keep an eye on ongoing inspection results when considering Friendship Manor.
