    Caring staff, worrying management issues

I'm grateful for the dedicated, prompt, and positive staff - they feel family-like; Carol even brought chairs and coffee and my uncle is clearly well cared for. The facility is older with few activities and a couple cleanliness concerns, though it generally seemed clean and odor-free and the meals tasted good. My main worry is management: staff are overworked, payroll has been an issue and the business office manager quit, so I wouldn't recommend working there.

    Summary review

Overall sentiment from the reviews of Pinckneyville Nursing and Rehabilitation is mixed but leans toward positive regarding resident-facing care and staff demeanor, and negative regarding internal operations and resourcing. Multiple reviewers emphasize a warm, family-like atmosphere and a team of staff who are dedicated and willing to go beyond typical duties to support residents. At the same time, significant operational concerns — especially payroll problems, perceived poor management, and staff being overworked — appear repeatedly and are a notable source of dissatisfaction and turnover.

Care quality and staff: The strongest and most consistent positive theme is the behavior and commitment of direct-care staff. Reviewers describe staff as friendly, attentive, and prompt with greetings; one reviewer specifically named "Carol" for bringing chairs and coffee and helping make a visit comfortable. Many comments indicate that residents are well cared for and receive assistance with daily tasks. There is praise for staff sacrifices and a thankful tone in several reviews, suggesting employees often work hard to meet resident needs and foster a supportive, family-like culture.

Management, payroll, and staffing issues: A contrasting, recurring theme concerns workplace management and payroll. Multiple reviews call out payroll issues (employees not being paid), and one review explicitly notes that the business office manager quit. These operational problems are tied to staff feeling overworked and to recommendations against working at the facility. The combination of payment problems, management turnover, and reports of overwork indicates a strained internal environment that could impact staff morale and retention, and by extension potentially affect long-term consistency of care.

Facilities, cleanliness, and environment: Opinions on cleanliness are somewhat mixed. Several reviewers state the facility is clean and free of odor, conveying a generally acceptable physical environment. However, at least one review mentions cleanliness concerns, indicating some inconsistency in experiences or areas that may need more attention. The facility is described as older, which may contribute to aesthetic or maintenance issues even when overall cleanliness is acceptable.

Dining and activities: Dining receives positive remarks, with reviewers noting good-tasting meals. In contrast, activities programming appears limited; reviewers cite "few activities," which suggests opportunities to improve resident engagement and social programming. For residents and families who prioritize social and recreational offerings, the current level of activities may be a shortcoming.

Notable patterns and overall impression: The dominant pattern is a gap between the compassionate, resident-facing work done by staff and shortcomings in administrative support and workplace conditions. Families and visitors generally report positive interactions, good meals, and attentive care, while employees seem to be struggling with pay and workload issues tied to management practices. The older building and some reports of cleanliness concerns are secondary but relevant themes. In sum, Pinckneyville appears to provide caring, personable day-to-day care driven by committed staff, but the facility faces operational and resourcing challenges that could affect staff retention and the consistency of services over time.

    About Pinckneyville Nursing and Rehabilitation

Pinckneyville Nursing and Rehabilitation opened in 2017 and sits at 708 Virginia Ct in Pinckneyville, Illinois, just down the street from the hospital, and although not much extra information is out there, what's certain is the place offers continuous health care with a focus on both short-term rehabilitation and long-term care, and you can find inpatient nursing services right alongside physical therapy, occupational therapy, and speech therapy, so residents get treatments matched to what they need. The center has space for about 60 residents and holds a Medicare certification, and while you won't find telehealth options, the staff is there Monday through Friday from 8 in the morning until 5 in the evening, aiming to keep things homelike, with a low staff-to-resident ratio for safety, and people can count on personalized nursing, different therapy options, nutritious meals, and activities that help folks connect and enjoy the day. The building has features meant to help with comfort and well-being, and there are amenities for everyday life, all designed to help people keep their dignity and quality of life, and honestly, while a lot of places say similar things, here you're dealing with a newer facility with specialized care, tailored attention, and a clear purpose to help people feel respected and at home.
