    About Hawkeye Care Center

Hawkeye Care Center sits at 5575 Pennsylvania Ave in Asbury, Iowa, and has been serving older adults since 1969, offering a range of care with skilled nursing, long-term care, assisted living, assisted living-memory care, palliative care, respite care, and rehabilitation, so if someone needs help for a short time or long-term support, they have several options and levels of care. People live in private rooms with queen-sized beds, kitchen spaces, sitting spots with TVs and fireplaces, and the center lets residents decorate their rooms using command strips, but no nails, and while they don't run phone lines into resident rooms, they suggest folks use a MagicJack Go if they want a personal line. Meals prepared by experienced staff, with snacks and coffee available all day, try to keep people comfortable, and daily planned activities and regular reminders aim to help residents stay social and involved. For physical needs, there's a therapy gym for physical, occupational, and speech therapy, restorative programs, a physical therapy room with medicine balls, and treatment rooms, and the campus even has a salon with dark blue walls and dark wood cabinets for a bit of pampering.

Nurses and care staff are present around the clock, and the leadership team covers roles like Administrator, Director of Nursing, MDS/Care Plan Coordinator, Assistant Director of Nursing, Social Worker, Dietary Manager, Office Manager, Human Resources, Activities Director, Housekeeping and Laundry Supervisor, Maintenance Supervisor, and Marketing/Community Relations Director, with the administrator being Tracey Long. The campus is divided into four wings across two floors-the lower floor houses the Transitional Care-Skilled Nursing Rehabilitation and Penn Suites, while the upper floor includes Heacock Suites as well as Heritage Suites for assisted living and Francis Suites for assisted living-memory care, and there's always 24-hour access to nursing care and paved walking areas, a courtyard, balcony seating with tables and chairs, housekeeping, laundry, and a salon area. Hawkeye Care Center is a smoke-free campus, which means they don't allow cigarettes, e-cigarettes, or smokeless tobacco anywhere, and they don't allow pets to visit unless they have a current rabies certificate. Visitors can come any time, day or night, and family is encouraged to visit and even spend time in the dining room or in private event areas, though all new residents must have a physician's order, TB skin test, and personal items labeled before admission. The staff say they work to foster safe routines and a sense of community, which looks like scheduled activities, chances for social interaction, and wellness programs that get folks up and moving, either with group activities or out in the spacious activities center or even a stroll outside. With 80 full-time and 60 part-time employees, Hawkeye Care Center has the staff to watch out for people's needs, whether that's skilled care during recovery, management of long-term health needs, memory care, or just a comfortable home with a focus on safety and daily life.
