    Mixed care but ultimately pleased

I had a mixed experience. Early on the facility was short-staffed - I was denied water, left on the toilet for 25 minutes, waited up to two hours for a pain pill, and experienced medication mistakes/overdose; alert buttons were slow and promised therapy/rehab never happened. Meals were greasy and high-carb and there was no clear COVID/visitor testing. That said, staff have been professional, family updates are timely, I have my own room, engaging activities beyond bingo, a secure unit, and now real peace of mind - overall I'm pleased.

    Summary review

The reviews for Creekside Living - Cottages and Villas present a mixed but strongly polarized picture, with several serious safety and care concerns reported alongside clear examples of competent and reassuring services. On the negative side, multiple reviewers describe incidents that raise immediate patient-safety alarms: medication mistakes (including wrong drugs administered and at least one report of an overdose), long delays in providing pain relief (one account cites a two-hour wait for a pain pill), and apparent neglect such as residents being denied water or left on the toilet for extended periods (25 minutes reported). These reports suggest lapses in both basic caregiving and medication management that could have severe consequences for vulnerable residents.

Staffing and responsiveness are recurring themes tied to those safety problems. Short staffing is repeatedly mentioned and appears to be linked to slow responses to alert buttons and requests for help. Several reviews explicitly connect slow or absent responses to understaffing, with families describing repeated excuses rather than corrective action. This pattern contributed not only to delays in comfort measures like pain medication and water but also to unfulfilled promises for rehabilitative services: therapy and rehab were reported as promised when arranging care but later not delivered. Additionally, reviewers raised concerns about the facility's infection-control practices, noting a lack of COVID protocols or visitor testing, which is an important operational consideration for residents and families.

Dining and rehabilitative services receive negative comments as well. Meals are described as greasy and high in carbohydrates, implying limited attention to balanced, healthful nutrition for residents who may have specific dietary needs. Promised therapy or rehab services not being provided was called out more than once, indicating a gap between what families were told during intake or marketing and the actual services received.

Balancing these criticisms, several reviews highlight positive, sometimes contrasting experiences. Multiple reviewers praise the professionalism of staff, timely communication with families, and improvements in care—some note that neglect ceased and that the resident is no longer being overlooked. Specific facility strengths cited include private rooms, a secure unit, and engaging activities that go beyond stereotypical offerings like bingo. These favorable comments suggest that the facility can and does provide good, reassuring care and programming for some residents and that management or staff efforts have led to improved outcomes in certain cases.

Taken together, the reviews point to inconsistency in the quality and reliability of care at Creekside Living - Cottages and Villas. The most serious and recurrent issues center on safety (medication errors and overdose reports), basic caregiving (access to water, timely help, being left unattended), and operational shortcomings tied to short staffing and unfulfilled service promises (therapy/rehab not provided). At the same time, there is credible evidence of competent, professional staff, effective communication with families, secure accommodations, and meaningful activities that provide peace of mind for some families. Prospective residents and their families should weigh these mixed signals carefully: verify current staffing levels, medication management protocols, infection-control practices, and actual rehabilitation services offered, and ask for specific examples of how the facility has addressed the serious incidents described by reviewers to ensure consistent and safe care.

About Creekside Living - Cottages and Villas

Creekside Living - Cottages and Villas gives seniors a place to live that feels a bit more like a neighborhood than a big building, because they use private and semi-private spaces called "The Cottages" and "The Villas," and these are set up so people can live more independently if that's what they need, or get a little more help in the villas if that fits better, and folks can pick what suits them. The cottages and villas each come as their own living space, so someone can have their own spot, and there are outdoor areas for fresh air and time with friends, along with private places to relax alone. They call their care areas by special names, like their 4-star and 5-star Transitional Care Units, and they offer different levels of help including both independent and assisted living, so it depends on how much support a person might want. There's a focus on comfort with lots of spaces to sit, walk, or enjoy the day, plus the community puts effort into offering activities where people can join in, meet others, and have a sense of belonging. Their services center around each resident's needs, whether that's help with daily life or just needing a safe, home-like environment, and the community really tries to make things easier with a variety of amenities and programs. Creekside Living - Cottages and Villas is open from 09:00 to 17:00 Monday through Saturday and shares updates and info over places like Facebook and the Meta platforms.
