    Kind caring staff beautiful facility

I placed my mom here and am pleased — the staff are genuinely caring, kind and professional, the aides are amazing, and she’s happy. The facility is beautiful, tip‑top clean and well maintained, meals are very good, and there are many organized activities that keep residents social and busy (community TV with sports; limited in‑room cable). Be aware of a recent ownership change and spotty communication, plus ongoing COVID concerns; it’s more geared to 80+ care than retirement‑style living.

    Summary review

Overall sentiment in the reviews is strongly positive about the day-to-day caregiving, cleanliness, and social life at Leahy Grove Independent And Assisted Living, with several recurring strengths and a few clear concerns. Reviewers repeatedly praise the staff — described as genuine, loving, kind, caring, professional, and easy to work with — and emphasize that aides provide outstanding care. Multiple comments indicate that staff know residents personally, function well as a team, and make it straightforward for family members to coordinate care. One reviewer explicitly said their mom is happy, which echoes the general impression that resident well-being is a priority.

Facility and maintenance receive consistent, favorable mention. The building and grounds are called clean and well-maintained, with ‘‘tip-top cleanliness’’ and a ‘‘cozy and pleasant atmosphere.’’ Several reviews describe the facility as beautiful, reinforcing the impression of good upkeep and a comfortable environment. Common-area amenities mentioned include a community TV with a sports channel and some cable availability in rooms; while this is viewed positively for shared social spaces, the limited in-room cable options are noted as a shortcoming by some.

Dining and activities are another area of strength. Multiple reviews say meals are good or very good, indicating consistent satisfaction with food service. Activity programming also gets favorable attention: reviewers report many organized activities, lots of opportunities that keep residents busy, and a social environment where residents interact. This suggests the community places emphasis on engagement and provides regular programming suitable for its resident profile.

There are several notable concerns that appear across reviews. COVID-related worries come up explicitly, with at least one reviewer stating ‘‘not right now for retirement living,’’ implying pandemic-era reluctance to move in or concerns about current safety. Management and administrative issues are an important theme: reviewers mention an ownership change and poor communication. The ownership transition potentially contributes to uncertainty and may be linked to lapses in information flow or responsiveness from leadership.

Resident profile and fit is another pattern to consider. Multiple comments indicate the community is ‘‘geared to 80+ residents’’ and offers a small-town atmosphere. For families or prospective residents who are younger, more active, or seeking a different demographic mix or urban setting, that could make Leahy Grove less suitable despite its caregiving strengths. Similarly, the limited in-room entertainment options (only some cable) may matter to people expecting more modern in-room amenities.

In summary, the reviews portray Leahy Grove as a well-maintained, friendly, and activity-rich community with highly praised direct-care staff and generally good meals. The biggest caveats are external and organizational: COVID concerns affecting move-in timing, an ownership change that may be creating transitional communication gaps, and a resident profile and limited in-room amenities that might not match every prospect’s preferences. For families prioritizing hands-on, compassionate care, cleanliness, and an active communal life — especially for older seniors (80+) — the facility rates well. For those worried about pandemic safety, administrative stability, or who want a different demographic or more in-room entertainment options, the reviews suggest you should probe these areas further with management before deciding.
