    Warm staff, roomy apartments, recommended

I placed my mom at Arlington Place and I'm very pleased - the staff is warm, attentive and treated her like family, which gave us real peace of mind. The roomy, homey apartments and up-to-date, clean common areas are great, and there are lots of engaging activities (exercise, crafts, bingo, Wii, music) plus transportation for doctor visits. Meals are three times daily and generally fine but can be bland or limited, and cleaning/COVID restrictions were occasional downsides. Overall affordable, well-run, and I'd recommend a visit.

    Summary review

Overall sentiment across the reviews for Arlington Place at Pocahontas is positive, with many reviewers emphasizing a clean, comfortable, reasonably priced assisted living community that prioritizes resident wellbeing and social engagement. Most comments highlight spacious apartments and a well-maintained facility with up-to-date technology. Residents and family members frequently describe common areas as inviting and the building layout as accessible and easy to navigate, contributing to a home-like atmosphere that helps new residents and families adjust.

Staff and care quality are among the strongest and most consistently praised aspects. Multiple reviewers call the staff friendly, attentive, and caring—often describing staff interactions as family-like and noting that staff treat residents like family. Reviews repeatedly cite helpfulness, quick responses to questions, accommodating behavior, and an informative, approachable administrator. Several family members explicitly state that the staff provided peace of mind and helped loved ones settle in smoothly. Transportation for medical appointments and administrator communication about pricing were noted positively, reinforcing perceptions of good operational support.

Facilities and apartments receive strong marks: reviewers report large, roomy apartments with their own refrigerators, neat and well-furnished common spaces, and practical amenities such as a beauty shop, dining room, reading room, and TV room. The layout and accessibility of apartments and common areas were mentioned repeatedly, along with the overall cleanliness of the building. There is, however, some variability in furnishings—several reviews note that furniture quality and style can differ between units and that some residents supply their own pieces.

Activities and community life are major strengths. Reviews consistently highlight a robust schedule of activities that support physical, social, and recreational engagement: exercise classes, Wii bowling, karaoke, crafts, gardening, bingo, card games, music programs, reading visits, and other group events. This programming appears to foster a friendly, active atmosphere where residents are in good spirits and regularly engaged.

Dining receives mixed feedback. Many reviewers appreciate that three meals a day are provided and that meal service can be flexible; some explicitly state the dining area is nice and that they are content with the food. Conversely, several reviews call the food bland or note limited meal choices. This creates an overall impression of inconsistent dining quality—adequate and convenient for many residents but not universally praised for variety or flavor.

A small set of operational concerns appears across reviews. There are reports of inconsistent weekly housekeeping, with at least one reviewer describing poor weekly cleaning. The community has also experienced periods of COVID-19 restrictions that were confining to apartments—this was a negative factor for residents during those times. Finally, while most reviewers appreciate the value, several characterize the experience as practical and comfortable rather than luxurious—Arlington Place is described as affordable and solid but “not a wow experience.”

In summary, Arlington Place at Pocahontas is portrayed as a clean, supportive, and activity-rich assisted living community with notably friendly and attentive staff, spacious apartments, and comprehensive daily programming. It offers good value relative to local pricing and provides family members with reassurance about care. Prospective residents should expect a homely atmosphere with strong social opportunities and dependable staff support, while being aware of some variability in dining and housekeeping and that the community is oriented toward practical comfort rather than high-end luxury.
