    Compassionate staff, clean cozy facility

I'm extremely grateful for the compassionate, knowledgeable and cheerful staff - their teamwork and attentive care helped my loved one regain the ability to walk and recover. The facility feels clean, cozy and home-like, with engaging activities that keep residents excited. Communication and safety (window/outdoor visits) were excellent; food wasn't always to our taste, but I would highly recommend this well-run place.

    Summary review

Overall sentiment across the reviews is strongly positive, with repeated emphasis on the quality and compassion of the staff and the facility’s effectiveness at supporting resident recovery and day-to-day needs. Multiple reviewers describe the staff as exceptional, competent, cheerful, and knowledgeable. Teamwork and good communication are recurring themes; reviewers note that staff work well together and keep families informed. Several comments single out the facility for providing attentive, individualized care and for encouraging rehabilitation—one reviewer specifically credited staff with helping a resident regain the ability to walk. These points create a clear pattern that Wheatland Manor emphasizes clinical competence combined with personal attention.

Care quality and outcomes are among the strongest themes. Reviewers describe the facility as providing high-quality care that contrasts favorably with negative experiences at other facilities. Attention to residents’ rehabilitation and recovery is highlighted, with encouragement and hands-on support described as meaningful contributors to improved mobility and independence for at least one resident. Reviewers consistently use words like amazing, exceptional, and well-run when describing the care team and its results, indicating a high level of trust in clinical and daily-care practices.

Staff characteristics receive a great deal of praise: kindness, compassion, cheerfulness, and knowledge. The staff’s demeanor appears to contribute heavily to the positive experience—reviewers mention that caregivers are engaging and that residents respond positively to them. The combination of clinical competence and compassionate interactions is emphasized repeatedly, and several reviews explicitly say they would recommend the facility based on the staff performance and outcomes.

Facility and environment are also described positively. Reviewers report the building as clean, cozy, and home-like, which supports resident comfort and a welcoming atmosphere. Activities programming is characterized as engaging, with residents excited to participate—this suggests an active social environment that contributes to resident wellbeing. The overall impression is of a facility that balances clinical care with a comfortable, social setting.

On operational matters, reviewers note that the facility is well run and communicates effectively with families. Safety precautions are visible and appreciated; reviewers mention measures such as window or outdoor visits implemented for safety reasons. While these precautions are presented as responsible, they do appear as a logistical limitation for some visitors and are mentioned in the context of how visits were conducted.

The most frequently cited negative points are limited and specific. The primary complaint is that the food is not always to residents’ tastes. This is the only recurring service-related criticism and appears relatively minor compared with the many positive comments about care and staff. The visitation method (window/outdoor talk) is noted as a safety precaution; some reviewers mention it matter-of-factly, which suggests it was accepted but could be viewed as a downside for those preferring indoor, direct visits.

In summary, the reviews paint Wheatland Manor as a highly competent, compassionate, and well-managed senior care facility with strong rehabilitation outcomes, especially notable staff teamwork and individualized attention. The environment is clean and home-like, activities are engaging, and communication and safety practices are evident. The primary areas for improvement are limited to dining preferences and the practical limitations of restricted visitation during times when safety protocols are in place. Overall, reviewers recommend the facility and highlight the staff and quality of care as the decisive strengths.

    About Wheatland Manor

Wheatland Manor sits quietly on the edge of Wheatland, Iowa, right at 316 E Lincolnway Street, and you'll see big trees around it and a new look thanks to a recent $2 million addition that really gave the place brighter spaces, so there's a bright dining room now and even a comfortable lounge area with a big 60-inch TV and fireplace where people like to gather, and all 44 beds are in private rooms that have good-sized closets and updated furniture with flat-screen TVs and views of the nearby landscape, which the residents appreciate. This place connects with Lincolnway Villa, which provides assisted living too, so folks can pick different types of care depending on how much help they might need, with assisted living focusing on independence and long-term care for more help if needed, and both offer things like daily activities, therapy services through Millennium Therapy that cover physical, occupational, and speech therapy, and they keep a pretty strong focus on letting everyone in the building reach their best independence and quality of life, so a lot of effort goes into things like life enrichment programs and all-day dining, which makes mealtime easier for different schedules. Residents get housekeeping and laundry done for them, and there's help with meals, nutrition, and hydration, plus access to beauty and barber shop services right on site, and if family comes to visit for a big gathering, there are spaces folks can use. There's a safe, lighted courtyard outside where people can stretch their legs or sit, and if someone wants to smoke, they're allowed in certain areas that are set aside for it. There's free Wi-Fi, which is good for those who like to keep in touch or watch something on the internet, even though sometimes you might run into issues accessing certain sites like Facebook depending on the browser, but the facility does have a Facebook page and a full website where more details about amenities and services can be found. For comfort, there's a whirlpool spa with a TV, a therapy room with up-to-date equipment, and in-room TVs, and all spaces are filled with as much natural light as possible, which helps brighten the mood. Folks here get spiritual services too, along with support for health care needs and daily living tasks, whether they're in for short-term rehab after a hospital stay or planning to stay longer, and the place truly tries to run with kindness, compassion, and practical support. Wheatland Manor has earned a 5-star rating from CMS for skilled nursing care and focuses on making the surroundings comfortable and safe, so the unique mix of private spaces, programs, and attention to "everyday living" tends to stand out in its quiet, straightforward way.
