    Compassionate attentive staff, beautiful facility

I live at Sunrise Foxhill and couldn't be happier - the staff are compassionate, attentive, and truly make it feel like family; I feel safe, loved, and well cared for. The property and common areas are beautiful and spotless, with an outdoor patio, pets on each floor, varied activities, and restaurant-style meals (excellent portions, sushi Tuesdays and standout Sunday brunch). Nursing support and memory care are solid (RN 24/7, locked memory floors), housekeeping and three meals are included, and management is accessible and responsive. It is expensive (large buy-in and about $335/day), but for the quality of care, service, and environment, I highly recommend it.

    Summary review

Overall sentiment: Reviews of Sunrise at Fox Hill are overwhelmingly positive, with a consistent emphasis on outstanding staff, high-quality memory care services, and an attractive, well-maintained facility. Across many summaries, reviewers highlight compassionate, attentive, and highly responsive employees — from caregivers and nurses to management and dining staff — and repeatedly attribute improved resident quality of life to the community’s caregiving. Many families and residents describe the staff as the primary strength of the community, calling them exceptional, patient, and effectively communicative during transitions and health needs.

Care quality and clinical support: The community receives strong praise for its memory care and specialized programming. Multiple reviews call out staff training by the National Parkinson’s Foundation and helpful Parkinson’s exercise programs, indicating specialized competence for neurodegenerative conditions. Memory care has 24-hour RN coverage, locked units on specified floors, and on-site end-stage care, which reassures families needing higher-acuity support. Reviewers also note dignity protection and consistent, compassionate care; many specific anecdotes describe staff anticipating needs and responding quickly, and managers who remained engaged during crises (for example, positive references to management during COVID).

Staff and management: Management accessibility and responsiveness is a recurring theme. Executive and sales staff are described as informative, accommodating, and pleasant during tours and move-ins. Multiple mentions of specific staff members (e.g., a favorable mention of a manager named Carla) underscore consistent, hands-on leadership. Families report smooth transitions, quick responses to concerns, and a level of family communication that builds trust. Overall, leadership and frontline teams are presented as cohesive, professional, and resident-focused.

Facilities and amenities: The building and grounds are frequently described as new, sophisticated, and luxuriously appointed, with many reviewers noting a hotel-like ambiance, tasteful furnishings, and attractive common spaces (greenhouse, terrace, gazebo, fireplace, ski-lodge aesthetic). Apartments are generally called lovely and well-furnished, with some private units offering small kitchens. Practical conveniences such as housekeeping, community washers/dryers, transport services, and pet-friendly floors add to the appeal. Reviewers also appreciate plentiful activities and social spaces that facilitate engagement and family involvement.

Dining and food service: Dining receives mixed but often positive feedback. Many reviewers call the food excellent, restaurant-style, and varied — citing large portions, special events (Sunday brunch, Sushi Tuesdays), and a generally high culinary standard. Conversely, several reviews mention shortcomings: occasional shortages (items running out during meals), limited dietary accommodations (beyond a few restricted options such as diabetic/sugar-free items and no-salt choices), and at least one report that meals could be improved. In short, while dining is a strength for many, there are recurring operational concerns around consistency and restrictive diet options for some residents.

Activities, social life, and resident engagement: Activities are a clear strength: painting classes, educational programs, music, bridge and reading groups, bus tours, limo services, and holiday events are frequently noted. Residents and families report high engagement, with many saying their loved ones thrive socially and find the community welcoming and lively. Reviewers describe a diverse, interesting resident population and many opportunities for independence, enrichment, and off-campus entertainment.

Cost and affordability: The most consistent negative theme is cost. Many reviewers say Sunrise at Fox Hill is one of the area’s best communities but also one of the most expensive. Several comments reference a large buy-in, a one-time move-in fee, and daily rates (one review mentions $335/day), leading to affordability concerns and situations where families could not have both partners live there. Some purchasers noted price reductions but still felt costs remained high. For prospective residents and families, the message is clear: quality is high but comes at a premium, and affordability is a major gating factor.

Fit and miscellaneous concerns: A few reviewers felt the community’s size or style was not a good fit — some found the atmosphere too large or a bit formal (feeling underdressed), and others preferred a smaller, more intimate setting. Parking and location were flagged by a minority as inconvenient. A few reviews mentioned small or minimal apartment layouts. There are also occasional comments that, despite the modern, upscale look, the community can feel like a nursing home depending on resident mix — particularly where many residents are in end-of-life care — which may affect the perceived level of independence for some prospective independent-living residents.

Overall assessment and pattern: The pattern across reviews is consistent: Sunrise at Fox Hill is highly recommended for families who prioritize top-tier staff, strong memory care capabilities, a robust activity schedule, and upscale facilities — provided they can afford the premium price. Staff quality, specialized clinical programming (Parkinson’s and memory care), cleanliness, and a rich social environment are the standout positives. The primary trade-offs are cost, occasional dining limitations for restricted diets, and community size/fit for those seeking a smaller or more affordable option. For those who can manage the financial commitment, reviewers overwhelmingly portray Sunrise at Fox Hill as an excellent, well-run, and compassionate community that significantly improves resident quality of life.
