    Summary review

Overall sentiment from the reviews is strongly positive, emphasizing compassionate, professional care and a high-quality rehabilitation program. Reviewers repeatedly highlight the nursing staff and support teams as caring, attentive, and willing to go above and beyond. Many comments single out the rehabilitation/physical therapy teams as excellent and a major reason families choose Coffman Nursing Home for both short-term rehab and longer-term care. The facility has received high marks overall, including a five-star rating in Washington County, and numerous families report that the care exceeded their expectations and helped loved ones improve.

Staffing and teamwork are recurring strengths in the reviews. Multiple summaries praise the collaborative effort across departments — nursing, dietary, therapy, housekeeping, and administration — which families describe as seamless and supportive. Communication with families is noted as good: relatives report being kept informed about care plans, that staff understand residents' needs, and that social workers and administrators take time to meet and assist. Reviews also contain anecdotes of exceptional, personalized attention, such as arranging a special plane ride and lunch for a resident's 100th birthday, which illustrates the facility's willingness and ability to organize meaningful events for residents.

The facility environment and amenities receive consistent praise. Coffman Nursing Home is described as clean, well-maintained, and free of unpleasant odors; housekeeping is called kind and effective. The setting is pleasant both inside and out, with easy access and good security measures. Several reviewers note that the facility is accessible and well organized, with a friendly, welcoming reception area and a generally positive atmosphere. The dietary team is also commended, with specific mention of enjoyable meals (for example, a liked breakfast), and residents are described as being in good spirits and involved in many activities — the activities department is cited as wonderful and a major factor in resident satisfaction.

Families particularly appreciate the personal, small-facility feel. Descriptions such as "small facility" and "personal care" reflect a sense that residents receive individualized attention that can be harder to find in larger institutions. This personalization appears to contribute to strong family satisfaction and optimism about recovery outcomes. The combination of professional service, courteous staff, and heartfelt compassion is a strong theme; reviewers consistently use terms like "kind," "helpful," "supportive," and "amazing" when describing employees.

The primary concern noted across the reviews is that staff are sometimes busy, which can limit interaction with visitors. While most comments about staff are positive, a few reviewers observed that staff workload or busyness could make it harder for visitors to get attention quickly. No other consistent negatives are reported in the supplied summaries — there are no recurring complaints about cleanliness, food quality, safety, or care standards. Overall, the reviews portray Coffman Nursing Home as a clean, well-run, and compassionate facility with strong rehabilitation services, active resident programming, effective family communication, and staff who often exceed expectations.

    About Coffman Nursing Home

Coffman Nursing Home sits in Washington County, Maryland, and has served the community for over 50 years, providing skilled nursing care, assisted living, memory care, and rehabilitation services in a single-story, home-like setting with room for 59 residents, and has both private and shared rooms that come with flat-screen TVs and free internet, so everybody's got some comfort and a bit of ease, and if folks want some fresh air or a bit of peace, they can stroll out to the outdoor pond or sit on the patio, though inside you'll always see activities going on, with daily sensory programs, gardening, music, and more, including intergenerational events to keep things lively. Staff at Coffman Nursing Home-including certified nursing assistants and a team of physical, occupational, and speech therapists-work together with residents and families to make individualized care plans that fit each resident's needs, focusing on health, safety, and helping each person maintain mobility and daily skills as much as possible, and people needing rehabilitation get access to programs like gait training, body and trunk strengthening, and several pain management techniques-including massage, electrical stimulation, stretching, ultrasound, and moist heat-in specialized rehab areas.

Coffman Nursing Home stands as a small nonprofit with nearly $5 million in assets and over $6 million in annual revenue, and the most recent Medicare survey rated it 4 stars overall, including 4 stars for health inspections, staffing, and quality, and 5 stars for RN staffing, so nurses do spend plenty of time with each resident compared to some places, though the home provides less LPN/LVN and physical therapist time than the state and national average, with CNAs giving about 3 hours and 19 minutes of daily care per resident, and short-stay residents have a high rate of successful discharges, about 65.3%. For long-term residents, Coffman helps people stay mobile and engaged, boasting a low rate of depression under 0.5% and keeping pressure ulcers rare-just 1.6%-and there's a full flu vaccination for everyone, but like many places, there's a higher rate of urinary tract infections-16.4%-and a higher incontinence rate at 81.8%, plus about 4.9% of residents have physical restraints used, which is something to be aware of. Long-term care folks see zero ongoing catheterization and short-term folks see zero pressure ulcers, while antianxiety medications go to 37% of long-term residents, which is higher than some places, but it really depends on the needs of the people living there. The facility had just one deficiency for pharmacy services but nine fire safety deficiencies, which is more than twice the average for Maryland, so people with concerns can check the state records on that.

You'll find that Coffman Nursing Home calls its care special names like CNH Nursing Home Care, CNH Rehabilitation Services, and CNH Amenities, and it runs the Jone L. Bowman Adult Medical Day Center for extra support and services. Medicaid is accepted. Daily life centers on comfort, security, and creating a sense of belonging that fits a wide range of health needs. The home aims to keep residents safe, comfortable, and as independent as possible while making daily life pleasant, and the team there does its best to make the environment friendly and supportive, even as they keep working to improve.
