    Spotlessly clean compassionate home-like care

My grandmother has lived here since 2019 and I couldn't be happier - spotlessly clean, beautiful rural, home-like setting with delicious meals (she's gained weight and is more engaged). The owners and warm, responsive staff - especially Victoria - are compassionate, attentive, and keep us updated, giving our family real peace of mind. I highly recommend this non-corporate facility for personal, excellent care.

Overall sentiment: The reviews for Kenwood Care Pine Hill are overwhelmingly positive. Across multiple summaries, reviewers consistently emphasize compassionate care, a warm and home-like atmosphere, and strong personal involvement from the owners and management. Families repeatedly report peace of mind, visible improvements in their loved ones, and a high degree of satisfaction with both daily care and the facility’s responsiveness. Many reviewers explicitly recommend the facility and note long-term residency and tenure as further evidence of trust.

Care quality: The dominant theme is high-quality, compassionate caregiving. Reviewers highlight that staff are kind, patient, competent, and highly attentive to residents’ needs. There is mention of in-house nursing oversight and positive feedback from physicians, indicating that medical and health needs are being monitored and addressed. Several reviewers noted observable improvements in their family members — including improved appetite, weight gain, and general contentment — which suggests effective day-to-day caregiving and nourishment. Families describe the environment as safe and say their relatives are “well cared for,” reinforcing confidence in care quality.

Staff and management: Management and staff are repeatedly singled out for praise. The owners are described as thoughtful and hands-on, with reviewers specifically noting they oversee care and provide a personal touch rather than a corporate approach. A house manager named Victoria received multiple commendations for responsiveness and leadership. Reviewers appreciate frequent communication and updates from staff, describing them as helpful guides through difficult situations. Long-term relationships between the staff and residents are emphasized, with multi-year tenures cited as evidence of stability and trust.

Reviewers note a home-like setting in a beautiful rural location, which many view as an asset for creating a peaceful, comfortable atmosphere. Multiple summaries use words like warm, welcoming, and comfortable to describe both the physical environment and the social climate. The combination of a tidy physical space and a calm rural setting appears to contribute significantly to families’ sense of security and satisfaction.

Dining and activities: Dining is another strong point. Several reviewers mention delicious meals, appealing kitchen aromas, and improved appetite among residents, which is an important indicator of wellbeing. Social activities and celebrations — such as birthday events — are noted, and reviewers report that residents (including grandparents) are engaged and happy. These elements contribute to residents’ quality of life beyond basic care needs.

Admissions, onboarding, and overall experience: Reviewers describe the admissions process as easy and seamless, with clear, supportive onboarding. Multiple long-term residents and families who have been connected to the facility for years report continued satisfaction, suggesting that initial impressions are sustained over time. The non-corporate, individualized approach is repeatedly framed as a “godsend” or invaluable support for families navigating aging and care decisions.

    About Kenwood Care Pine Hill

Kenwood Care Pine Hill sits back on 1.6 acres in Laurel, Maryland, surrounded by tall trees and nature, and people who live here say you can feel how calm and quiet it is right away, and with it being set back from the road, there's privacy and a peaceful feel you don't get everywhere. The place has been family-owned and operated for over 25 years, and that personal touch comes through, as the house has up to sixteen residents and about six live-in caregivers, so that resident-to-caregiver ratio is about 2.5 to 1, which means people get help when they need it, not hours later, and really, it's always someone you know who's helping. There's wheelchair access from the parking lot and throughout the entrance, and you'll see the place is ADA-compliant, and with ramps, wide doors, sturdy railings, and safety features like a sprinkler system, so people with mobility challenges or cognitive difficulties can get around safely. Pine Hill focuses on both assisted living and memory care, so they've made sure to have top-rated specialists in Alzheimer's and dementia, and they pay close attention to needs as they change-people who come here can age in place, including those who might eventually need hospice care, and they work with outside providers for that comfort and continuity of care. Folks get help with bathing, dressing, medication, meals, walking wheelchair assistance, diabetic care, incontinence, and if they need extra care, there's an in-house nurse and house manager Zeny to make sure nothing falls through the cracks. Rooms here are spacious, clean, and fully furnished, and you can smell food cooking, since meals are prepared right in the home, with options for dietary needs like no sugar, low, or no sodium, and there's a dining room for family-style meals, plus frequent birthday celebrations, BBQs, holiday parties, and even guitar and singing sessions, so people have things to do beyond just sitting and watching TV.

Pine Hill has a strong program of social, educational, and recreational activities, including fitness sessions, games, Monday and Wednesday morning activities, karaoke, devotional times, and outings, and a range of visiting professionals offer services like massage therapy, podiatry, haircuts, and more, all managed through a broad network, and doctors visit regularly and give good reports on resident health, so most families feel reassured about their loved one's well-being. The home uses a fixed rate fee system, with no extra service charges or entrance fees, and it accepts long-term care insurance as a payment option. Families get regular updates, and the environment is home-like and warm, and residents can watch TV, use the fast Wi-Fi, or relax on one of several outdoor patios. Laundry, dry cleaning, housekeeping, and general maintenance are all included, and the building stays well maintained and clean, so even doctors comment on it. They keep a secure environment for memory care residents, with locked outside living spaces and easy-to-navigate indoor common areas, and when residents want to get out, they have transportation and help to get to appointments or outings. There are more locations run by Kenwood Care in Howard County, like Dayton and Fulton, but Pine Hill in Laurel stays known for its high staff-to-resident ratio, tranquil setting, and strong focus on both assisted living and memory care-you'll find caregivers like Floyd and Carla who get mentioned by name because people remember how caring and consistent they are. With accommodations for many levels of care, Pine Hill offers help with medication management and daily living, routine health and wellness activities, a salon and barbershop, and community areas like a fitness center, activity room, and TV lounge. You can see six photos online if you want a better feel, but people mention usually that there's always laughter, frequent family visits, and that everyone, including the staff, treats each other like an extended family.
