    Nice home, but rude staff

I found the small, five-resident home well kept and homey - clean rooms and kitchen, a modern dining/gathering room, good food, honest memory care, caring/professional staff, and simple activities like movies and crafts. However, rude behavior from staff and the owner (even cursing in front of a patient) made me uncomfortable, so I cannot recommend it.

    Summary review

Overall sentiment in the collected reviews is mixed but leans positive with important caveats. Multiple reviewers emphasize a small, home-like environment—about five residents—that feels comforting and non-institutional. The facility is repeatedly described as well kept, clean (including kitchen and resident rooms), and nicely decorated with a modern dining room. Food quality is noted positively, and reviewers mention gathering spaces suitable for TV viewing or card games. Memory care is offered and, according to reviewers, is represented truthfully. Several comments assert that the care is delivered from the heart and that staff provide thorough explanations and clear communication.

Care quality and daily life: Many reviewers report genuinely caring, professional, and empathetic staff who seem sincerely concerned about residents' needs. The small household size appears to contribute to a more personal, homey feeling—rooms are described as not institutional and residents as nice and comfortable. Activities listed across reviews include movies, bead crafts, and adult coloring, which align with a low-key, home-style approach to engagement. Memory care is specifically mentioned as part of services and was described as accurately described to families.

Staffing and management: While numerous comments praise kind and informative caregivers, there is a notable and serious negative thread concerning staff demeanor and management. Several reviewers report rude behavior from staff and, more alarmingly, from the owner—one review explicitly mentions cursing in front of a patient and an overall unfriendly atmosphere. This creates a sharp contrast with the otherwise positive descriptions of caring staff and suggests inconsistency in personnel behavior or significant variability between shifts. The reviews also mention a low staff-to-resident ratio; although some reviewers felt staff seemed adequate, the phrasing raises a potential concern about understaffing that prospective families should clarify.

Facilities and activities: The physical environment is generally praised—clean, homey, and well maintained despite being an older house. There is a gathering room for TV or cards and a modern dining room, but reviewers note limited activity offerings beyond movies and simple crafts; one specifically notes only TVs were observed and another points out the absence of a library or broader engagement resources. This suggests that while the facility is comfortable and well-presented, the range of structured activities and cognitive stimulation might be limited compared with larger communities.

Patterns and recommendations implied by the reviews: The most consistent strengths are the small size, cleanliness, pleasant dining, and instances of genuinely caring staff. The most serious concern is interpersonal: reports of rudeness from the owner and some staff are salient and could outweigh other positives for many families. The mixed signals around staffing levels and behavior indicate variability—either between shifts or over time—that prospective residents and their families should investigate. Important follow-up questions for decision-making would include confirming current staffing ratios and turnover, asking for examples of daily activity schedules beyond TV and crafts, observing staff-resident interactions in person (including during meals and medication times), and discussing how the facility handles complaints or behavioral issues with management. These steps will help determine whether the positive aspects (homey atmosphere, cleanliness, memory-care transparency) are consistently delivered and whether the serious interpersonal concerns have been addressed.
