    Warm caring staff, clean, concerns

I felt relieved leaving my loved one at this warm, family-like place - the staff are genuinely caring, the facility is spotless with a pleasant smell, meals are home-cooked, and there are plenty of activities, weekly outings and family events. Management was responsive, supportive and included us in care decisions; nurses, aides and onsite doctors/dentists made the medical side reassuring. My only concerns were small rooms, occasional staff inattentiveness or medication delays, and the facility could use some modernization and improved ventilation in spots. Overall I'm very satisfied and would recommend a visit to see the room and ask about staffing before committing.

    Summary review

Overall sentiment: Reviews for Fenwick Landing Senior Care Community are overwhelmingly positive with repeated praise for the staff, the cleanliness of the facility, the quality of meals, and the breadth of activities and social programming. Across many reviews families emphasize peace of mind, compassionate treatment of residents, and a home-like atmosphere. Frequent compliments focus on how staff treat residents with dignity and warmth and on the strong memory-care environment for those with Alzheimer’s/dementia.

Care quality and staff: The dominant theme is that staff are caring, attentive, and professional. Numerous reviewers describe staff as warm, loving, and family-like; several note that staff go above and beyond, accompany residents to medical appointments, and maintain clear communication with families. Many families commend management for responsiveness and empathy, reporting proactive updates and inclusion in decisions. That said, a minority of reviews report declines in care quality tied to staff retirements or turnover: these accounts describe neglect, inattentiveness, medication delays, clothing/diaper issues, and instances where staff appear distracted. These negative reports appear as exceptions rather than the norm but are significant enough that prospective families should probe staffing stability and supervision practices during a tour.

Facility and maintenance: Most reviewers highlight a sparkling, well-organized, and spotless facility with pleasant grounds and a home-like feel (aquarium living room, waterfall on premises). The smaller size is often viewed positively for intimacy and personalized care. Conversely, some reviewers point to maintenance and modernization needs—comments include the need for a facelift, updated HVAC/ventilation, and repairs. A few reviewers reported more severe environmental concerns in specific instances: smells of urine/feces, smoking near the building, doors left open and mosquitoes indoors. These negative points appear isolated but merit investigation during an in-person visit.

Dining and nutrition: Meal service is consistently praised: food is described as nutritious, thoughtfully prepared, and home-cooked with a pleasant aroma of baking. The cook is noted as sociable and dinners are generally served on time. A few reviewers mention a diet plan being implemented for individual residents and that some residents are eating better. There were no widespread complaints about food quality, though one review stressed that additional charges should be clarified (which could include special dietary services) and another noted that food preferences can vary, so confirming menu flexibility is advisable.

Activities and social programming: Reviews emphasize a broad, active calendar: bingo, trivia, baking, gardening, crafts, themed parties (holidays, Mother’s/Father’s Day), outings to restaurants, hair and nail services, prayer gatherings, and even bowling and “art camp” style adult day programs. Residents are described as engaged, social, and well-groomed. Staff-driven events and regular celebrations contribute strongly to the community feel and to families’ satisfaction. Exercise programs that aim to reduce falls and improve balance and sleep are also highlighted.

Management, communication, and transparency: Many families report transparent communication, inclusive decision-making, and supportive management, which contributes to trust and satisfaction. There are compliments about onsite medical providers (doctor, dentist, podiatrist), transportation, respite care, and the community’s ability to support transitions to long-term placement. However, some reviews describe management issues such as perceived favoritism, petty drama, and at least one instance where an application received no response and contact information was missing. Prospective families should verify contact processes, staff turnover, and fee transparency when evaluating the community.

Safety and clinical supports: Fenwick Landing is frequently described as a safe and secure setting for those with Alzheimer’s/dementia and for residents with mobility issues. Reviewers report attentive monitoring, fall-risk reduction through exercise programming, and helpful clinical support including doctor accompaniment. These elements are repeatedly cited as reasons families feel reassured and inclined to recommend the community.

Notable patterns and final recommendation: The dominant pattern in the reviews is high satisfaction driven by compassionate staff, strong programming, and a clean, home-like environment that supports memory care and social engagement. Negative comments, while fewer, focus on episodic lapses tied to staffing turnover and on facility maintenance or cleanliness lapses in isolated cases. For most families Fenwick Landing appears to deliver high-quality, person-centered care with active engagement and strong family communication. Prospective residents and families should still tour the community, ask specific questions about current staffing levels and stability, review room sizes and bathroom configurations (some private baths lack showers), confirm fee structures and any extra charges, and look for signs of ongoing maintenance and odor control. Those steps will help verify that the positive experiences reflected in many reviews match the current conditions and that any isolated concerns have been addressed.
