    Clean, caring staff; small rooms

I toured Autumn Cottages and liked the clean, small setting - the staff are friendly, funny, and very attentive, especially with memory care, so residents get more one-on-one time. The tour was nice and the offerings looked good, though rooms are small, availability is limited, and I was concerned about a shared bathroom/roommate; remodeling is underway. Overall I felt confident in the care but would still tour a few places.

    Summary review

Overall sentiment in these reviews is broadly positive with consistent praise for the staff, the quality of resident attention, and the benefits of a small, home-like memory care setting. Multiple reviewers emphasize that staff are friendly, helpful, and responsive to questions; they highlight a supportive team that uses humor and personal attention to create a pleasant atmosphere for residents. Several comments specifically note that the smaller scale of Autumn Cottages allows staff to spend more time with residents and provide respectful, focused memory care. The facility is also described as clean and reviewers report positive impressions from tours, and that the community's programs and offerings are viewed favorably. The mention of remodeling indicates management is investing in updates, which some reviewers saw as a positive sign.

Care quality and staff performance emerge as the strongest themes. Reviewers repeatedly describe attentive, respectful care tailored to memory needs; the small-house model is cited as enabling individualized attention and closer staff-resident relationships. Staff demeanor is a frequent positive point — many reviews use words like friendly, helpful, and amazing — and several mention that staff make an effort to ensure residents enjoy activities and social time. At least one reviewer specifically recommended touring Autumn Cottages and other facilities, implying confidence in the care but also encouraging comparison-shopping.

Facility and accommodations present a mixed picture. The building and grounds are described as clean and undergoing remodeling, which suggests ongoing maintenance and improvements. However, several practical concerns arise around the physical accommodations: rooms are described as small, there is limited availability which may create urgency or reduce choices, and at least one reviewer noted the bathroom was not inside the resident’s room (implying shared or external bath facilities). These points suggest that while the environment is well-kept, space limitations and room layouts could be a drawback for some prospective residents.

Social dynamics and isolated negative reports warrant attention. While most feedback about staff is positive, there is at least one mention of rude staff or people, and another reviewer expressed concern about a potential or actual roommate situation. These comments introduce a degree of variability in the resident experience and suggest that compatibility with roommates and consistent staff professionalism may be areas to monitor. Because the community is small, roommate fit and individual staff-resident interactions can have an outsized impact on satisfaction.

Notably, the reviews provide little to no specific information about dining quality, menu variety, medical responsiveness beyond memory care, or formal management responsiveness to complaints; these areas are not addressed in the summaries provided. In short, Autumn Cottages by Vivie is frequently praised for its caring, personable staff and its small-scale, respectful approach to memory care in a clean environment with planned improvements. Prospective residents and families should weigh those strengths against practical concerns about room size, bathroom layout, limited availability, and the potential for occasional interpersonal issues (roommates or staff). A careful tour and direct conversations about room configurations, roommate assignment policies, staffing consistency, and current remodeling timelines would be advisable based on the themes present in these reviews.
