    Compassionate modern memory care home

I've had my dad here for three years and I'm so grateful - the new, modern facility has beautiful private rooms, top-notch memory care, and exceptionally caring, hands-on staff and administration who helped with his transition. Activities, grooming/nail services, and attentive management make visits happy; it truly feels like a hidden gem and a compassionate end-of-life home. My only quibbles: meal portions are small and they could use more staff and more outings. Highly recommend.

    Summary review

Overall sentiment across the reviews for Serenity Village is strongly positive, with repeated and consistent praise for the facility's staff, management, and living environment. Multiple reviewers emphasize that the facility is new, modern, and homey, with beautiful, spacious private rooms. The physical environment is described as comfortable and attractive, which contributes to a positive impression for both residents and visiting family members.

Care quality and staff performance are the most frequently highlighted strengths. Reviewers repeatedly call the staff wonderful, caring, and well trained. There are numerous mentions of attentive, above-and-beyond service and of staff being hands-on with questions and during transitions. The owner and administration receive specific commendation for being actively involved and helpful, particularly during move-ins and when families need guidance. Several accounts note a smooth transition process for new residents and explicit praise for the facility’s ability to support families during those early stages.

Serenity Village also receives strong endorsements for its memory care and end-of-life care capabilities. Reviewers describe the memory care as "top-notch" and identify the community as suited for end-of-life needs, suggesting staff competency and comfort with residents who require higher acuity or hospice-style support. The presence of long-term residents (including mentions of three-year stays) and comments that visits are happy further reinforce the impression of consistent, reliable care for residents over time.

On the services and programming side, the facility offers an active in-house schedule — reviewers mention exercise classes, singing, and comedy events — and available grooming and nail services. These elements contribute to resident engagement and quality of life and are seen as positive differentiators for the community.

The primary concerns raised are operational and relate to food and staffing. Several reviewers describe meals as meager or served in small portions, which is the most consistent negative comment across the summaries. Staffing shortages are another recurrent issue — reviewers explicitly state a need for more staff. This staffing concern appears to link to other operational shortcomings, most notably a lack of outings and external activities; reviewers specifically call out that outings are lacking. While staff are described as caring and attentive, the recurring comment about insufficient staffing suggests capacity limits that may constrain programming, trips off-site, or perhaps timeliness of some services.

In summary, Serenity Village is portrayed as a modern, well-run, and highly recommended community, particularly strong in staff quality, management involvement, memory care, and end-of-life support. The physical environment and in-house offerings are viewed positively. The main areas for improvement are dining portion sizes and increasing staffing levels to expand outings and possibly improve service capacity. Taken together, the reviews indicate a facility with many substantial strengths and a few operational gaps that, if addressed, could further enhance resident and family satisfaction.

    About Serenity Village

Serenity Village Assisted Living/Memory Care sits at 113 Serenity Ct. in Avon, Minnesota, and offers a mix of independent living, assisted living, and memory care for seniors at different stages, so you'll find folks who like a bit of help with things and others who need more support, and there's always staff on hand day and night to keep an eye on things, handle medication, or just help someone get dressed or ready for bed. The facility serves home-cooked meals using organic food and ingredients, and they're careful with diets, so if someone's got diabetes or allergies, the kitchen staff plan for that, plus there's all-day dining which means you don't need to worry about missing mealtimes. You'll find the rooms spacious, often with private bathrooms, kitchenettes, comfortable furniture, and either private or shared layouts depending on what someone chooses, and the place is air-conditioned, with internet, telephones, and cable TV so there's plenty to do indoors, or residents can spend time in the garden, walk the paths outside, or gather in common rooms like the dining hall or that sunny kitchen and cozy fireplace area where residents and their families can sit and chat awhile.

There's 24-hour supervision, a call system for emergencies, and regular check-ins for safety, and people who struggle to move around on their own get non-ambulatory care and help with transfers, bathing, dressing, toileting, as well as glucose monitoring and oxygen if that's needed; you'll also notice they have a mental wellness program, exercise sessions, group crafts, music, and both resident-run and community-sponsored activities, so there's something to do or get involved in every day. The staff help coordinate with healthcare providers, get you set up with transportation to medical appointments, and they'll even help with the move-in process to make things smoother, and there's laundry, cleaning, and linen services handled by staff so residents get a maintenance-free lifestyle and don't have to keep up with chores unless they want to.

The community offers a secure memory care zone for those living with dementia or other memory challenges, with extra support and specialized programming meant to help with memory and keep people engaged, and folks with mild cognitive impairment or more advanced needs, including those with a dementia waiver, can settle in knowing there's 24/7 awake staff and an RN always available, so families rest a bit easier about loved ones. You'll also find little comforts like a beauty salon and barber shop, movie nights, lounges, an emergency alert system, and parking for guests, while housekeepers and maintenance staff keep things neat. The focus at Serenity Village stays on letting folks keep their dignity as much as possible, with staff showing professionalism but also humor, passion, and integrity, making this a supportive place for seniors needing a range of care from a little help to full nursing or memory services.
