    Compassionate staff but inconsistent care

I placed my loved one here and overall the campus, activities (including on-site daycare and intergenerational programs), loving and professional staff, cleanliness and collaborative care were real strengths - many staff were attentive, consistent, and compassionate. That said, I also encountered inconsistent care at times: understaffing, long call/meal waits, occasional rude/unhelpful employees, delayed medical responses, hygiene lapses and even theft reports. I'd recommend it but urge you to visit, talk to current residents/families, and closely monitor care.

    Summary review

Overall sentiment is strongly mixed: many reviews praise the community for compassionate, family-focused care, robust activities and a home-like atmosphere, while a substantial number of reviews describe serious clinical, cleanliness and safety concerns. Positive reviewers consistently highlight warm, attentive staff members, successful short-term rehab outcomes, varied activity programming (notably intergenerational events and on-site daycare), an engaged executive leadership in some cases, and a pleasant campus with convenient access to a nearby hospital. Several families report that their loved ones thrived socially—enjoying art, music, outings, visits from children, church services and a range of events—and that therapists and some nurses provided excellent, timely rehabilitation and supportive care.

However, those positive reports sit alongside multiple and sometimes serious negative accounts. A recurring theme is understaffing: reviews describe long wait times for call-button responses, delayed meals, postponed or missed showers, and staff appearing overwhelmed. Clinical concerns are prominent and specific: several reviewers described missed or delayed detection of infections (two reported UTIs, at least one unrecognized pneumonia and missed fevers), inconsistent medication timing, delayed or mishandled diagnostic results (X-rays/labs), and alleged improper topical treatments and resulting skin issues (including bedsores). There are also alarming safety-related reports — a choking incident reportedly not acted upon, multiple falls with family not notified, and claims of residents left in bed instead of being taken to hospital. These issues indicate potential gaps in nursing assessment, monitoring and escalation.

Cleanliness, incontinence and personal-care issues are another significant pattern. Some family members report dirty briefs, poor catheter area hygiene, soiled incontinence supplies, and inconsistent housekeeping (filthy rooms, floors not cleaned). Conversely, other reviewers report clean facilities and good laundry service; this divergence suggests inconsistent performance across shifts or units rather than uniform facility-wide standards. Security and trust issues appear in multiple reviews: allegations of staff theft of valuables, missing personal items, rude or mocking behavior by staff, and troubling claims about kitchen practices and staff misconduct (reports of open alcohol in the kitchen, underage workers). At least one reviewer referenced external regulatory actions (OSHA and state health department reports), which, if accurate, would underscore systemic problems noted by families.

Staffing quality and professionalism are described in polarized terms. Numerous reviews praise individual caregivers, nurses and therapy staff as kind, compassionate and life-extending; many highlight consistent staff assignments and low turnover as benefits. Yet an approximately equal or substantial subset of reviews detail unprofessional conduct — from rude front-desk behavior and billing issues to telehealth social workers responding inappropriately — and in some accounts, a culture that permits or fails to correct unsafe or disrespectful behavior. These contradictory impressions suggest variability by unit, shift, or time period: some families experienced engaged leadership, prompt communication and collaborative care planning, while others encountered dismissive responses and unresolved complaints.

Activities and social life are among the facility's strongest consistent positives. Multiple reviewers mention a broad slate of activities (art, music, bingo, sing-alongs, trips), frequent outings, and especially successful intergenerational programming tied to the on-site daycare. These features appear to deliver real benefits: improved mood, social engagement and purpose for many residents. Dining and food quality receive mixed ratings — several reviewers report good meals while others describe poor food and long meal waits tied to staffing shortages.

In summary, Ebenezer Ridges Campus appears to offer a warm, activity-rich community with capable therapists and many genuinely caring staff members, making it an excellent fit for some residents—particularly those seeking social engagement, rehabilitation or a family-oriented environment. At the same time, a significant and concerning number of reviews describe clinical lapses, cleanliness and safety failures, staff unprofessionalism, and possible regulatory issues. These negative reports are not isolated to minor complaints but include allegations of missed medical conditions, hygiene problems, theft and breakdowns in basic resident safety and dignity.

Given the polarized experiences reported, prospective residents and families should do targeted due diligence before committing: visit multiple times and on different shifts, speak privately with current residents and families about clinical care and safety, ask management for recent inspection and complaint history (state survey/OSHA reports), inquire about staffing ratios, nurse coverage and medication/pass procedures, test responsiveness (observe call light response and mealtimes), review procedures for personal item security, and confirm housekeeping and infection-control protocols. The mixed reviews suggest that while many residents receive excellent, compassionate care, there are important and potentially serious inconsistencies that should be assessed and monitored carefully.

    About Ebenezer Ridges Campus

Ebenezer Ridges Campus sits on a landscaped area in Burnsville just a block from Fairview Ridges Hospital, and it's been recognized as one of the Best Nursing Homes by U.S. News & World Report in early 2025, so the care there stands out in the area. The campus has five main buildings with different options, offering independent living, subsidized independent living, assisted living, enhanced care suites, memory care, transitional care, long-term skilled nursing, adult day center, and even child care. There are private suites and semi-private suites, some with kitchen appliances and climate controls, and residents can pick from studio, one-bedroom, or two-bedroom apartments, some with nice views. The community has a pet-friendly policy but small dogs aren't allowed, so people can still bring their pets if they're not tiny pups. The atmosphere feels home-like, with a focus on easy living and comfort.

Ebenezer Ridges Campus supports seniors at any care level with skilled nursing staff available, and they handle things like incontinence care, physical, occupational, and speech therapy, memory care with trained staff, and transitional care for folks who just got out of the hospital and need a little more support before going home. Some programs let residents get support at every stage, and if a resident's needs increase, they can usually add more help and stay in their same apartment. The community has care plans made in partnership with residents and their families, and people can join short-term respite stays or use adult day services. Many people like that the staff includes nurses (part-time for some buildings) and team members trained in memory care.

The campus has lots of spaces for socializing, like a movie theater, fitness center, elegant dining room with chef-prepared meals, chapel for religious services, garden, communal dining areas, onsite coffee and gift shop, and indoor community rooms. There's even an intergenerational childcare program where seniors and kids mix for some activities. Residents can use the salon or enjoy outings to local parks or sporting events. Activities change regularly and include things like art classes, writing poetry, Bible trivia, holiday parties, live music, and a summer festival. The staff plan onsite and offsite activities that help keep people active, connected, and engaged.

Help with daily living is easy to find, with housekeeping, laundry, maintenance, linen changes, meal service, medication reminders, and transportation for errands or appointments. The apartments aim for maintenance-free living, with enhanced care suites that give access to satellite TV, wireless internet, scheduled housekeeping, and a private kitchen. Access to therapy providers is included for people in the enhanced care suites and transitional care, so residents can recover well from surgery or illness and hopefully get back home if that's their goal. Social services, recreational activities, and themed community events help foster friendships and keep life interesting. People with mobility concerns find the buildings are handicap accessible and manageable.

Ebenezer Ridges Campus is operated by Ebenezer Ridges Geriatric Care Center and works with Fair View Health Services, so residents get connect to a larger network of support and resources. The community oversees and supports several other senior housing locations across Minneapolis. The commitment to care, opportunities for aging in place, creative and spiritual activities, day programming with children, outings, and a flexible variety of living options all give families and residents several choices, though memory care and assisted living apartments tend to fill up quickly. People often find the setting welcoming with thoughtful amenities and a range of care that can grow as their needs change.
