    Safe attentive staff, great care

I feel safe and genuinely welcomed here - the staff are attentive and caring, Ashley the activity director is awesome, and the nurses and doctors are great and proactively communicate about medications. The renovated, clean apartments have updated appliances and come furnished or unfurnished, managers go above and beyond, and the community is veteran-friendly with lots of activities. It's expensive, but for me the quality of care and environment justify it.

    Summary review

Overall sentiment in the reviews is strongly positive. Multiple reviewers emphasize a welcoming, caring atmosphere and repeatedly describe the staff as wonderful, attentive, and responsive. Praise is given across frontline care and administrative roles, with specific shout-outs to nurses and doctors for quality care and to Ashley, the activity director, for running an excellent activities program. The consistent use of words like "wonderful" and specific examples of staff behavior suggest a sustained pattern of positive interactions rather than isolated incidents.

Care quality and medical communication emerge as clear strengths. Reviewers state that nurses and physicians are "great," and they highlight proactive medical communication practices—explicitly noting that staff will contact a resident's doctor when questions arise about over-the-counter medications. This indicates attentive oversight and a precautionary approach to resident health. Review comments that call the care "responsive" reinforce the impression that staff react promptly to needs and concerns.

Staff and management receive high marks for both personal attention and professionalism. Beyond clinical staff, managers are described as pleasant and willing to go above and beyond, and the facility is characterized as "very good with visitors," suggesting family-friendly policies and competent reception of guests. The combined praise for directors, nurses, managers, and activity staff portrays an organized, resident-focused leadership culture.

Facilities and living accommodations are another repeating theme. Reviewers mention a renovated apartment complex with updated appliances and note that units are available furnished or unfurnished. The facility is also described as clean, which contributes to the overall positive impression. These comments point to both aesthetic updates and practical options that can appeal to a range of resident preferences and needs.

Activities and social programming appear to be a highlight, with "lots of activities" specifically noted and the activity director (Ashley) singled out as "awesome." This suggests a robust calendar of events and active engagement efforts that support resident wellbeing and social connection. Combined with descriptors like "welcoming and caring environment," the reviews indicate the facility places emphasis on quality-of-life programs in addition to medical care.

The primary concern mentioned across the reviews is cost—several reviewers describe the facility as expensive. No specific price points or fee structures are provided in the summaries, but the consistent mention of expense suggests prospective residents and families should evaluate affordability and compare services against cost. There are no other consistent negative themes in the summaries provided (for example, no complaints about food, safety incidents, or staffing shortages were reported), which strengthens the impression that the facility's main trade-off is price versus high-quality service.

In summary, Valley View Manor is portrayed as a well-managed, clean, and renovated senior living community with strong clinical care, proactive medical practices, and an active social program led by a highly regarded activity director. Staff at all levels—from nurses and doctors to managers and activity staff—are described as compassionate and responsive, contributing to residents feeling safe and secure. The clear caveat from reviewers is cost: the facility is perceived as expensive, so prospective residents should weigh the higher expense against the apparent high caliber of care, amenities, and staff attention described consistently in these reviews.

    About Valley View Manor

Valley View Manor sits at 200 9th Ave E in Lamberton, Minnesota, and has served the area since 1972 as a healthcare facility focused on seniors. The facility is a partnership organization and is owned by a well-known local healthcare group. With a staff of about 51 to 200 employees, Valley View Manor covers quite a range of services, helping people who need long-term care, short-term or transitional care, and respite care if families need a break. People staying here will find support for memory care and assisted living, and there's nursing care and rehabilitation available too, either on-site or at nearby places. Folks who need home care or hospice care can also get those services through Valley View Manor.

The staff here works to support each resident's need for dignity, compassion, and independence, and Dawn Giese acts as the Executive Director, making sure care meets the community's standards. There's a big focus on keeping people involved and connected, and amenities include comfortable indoor common areas, devotional activities, activities within the building, and trips off-site. Valley View Manor offers Adult Day Care too, which gives families some extra peace of mind.

The nursing home provides skilled nursing around the clock, and matches care plans to each resident's needs, handling medication management, incontinence care, physical, occupational, and speech therapy, as well as high acuity care and diabetic care, plus support for folks who can't walk. The memory care program and assisted living services are tailored to people who need extra help each day, in a safe and kind environment that tries to keep everyone as independent as possible.

Valley View Manor has been around for over 30 years, and over time, it's earned recognition for quality, award-winning care and special programs. The center aims for a sense of belonging, offering wellness programs and personal activities that help residents meet their own goals. You'll find the facility doesn't have a fancy atmosphere, but it does stay peaceful and welcoming, and the staff's main job is meeting the daily needs of each person, in a way that respects choices and dignity, and helps residents feel at home, even when they require a lot of support.
