    About McIntosh Senior Living

McIntosh Senior Living handles care for older adults who need different levels of support, offering 45 private rooms in a safe and comfortable setting that's been open since 1986 and holds both Medicaid and Medicare certification. Residents can choose from several types of senior living services, whether they need skilled nursing, memory care, or help with day-to-day tasks, and the place uses unique terms like the MSL Training Center, which offers CNA, CPR, and First Aid courses, and coordinates most activities and programs through the Program Coordinator/Activities staff. The facility, a nonprofit under the direction of administrator Ms. Sharlene Knutson, keeps an experienced team, including a director of nursing, social service designee, maintenance supervisor, and a Certified Dietary Manager, all making sure residents feel cared for and safe.

The community offers a wide list of property features, like all private, fully furnished rooms with central air, private bathrooms, safety handles, and an emergency call system, plus shared areas for eating, walking, and relaxing, such as a community lounge, dining room with all-day restaurant-style dining, laundry room, and manicured grounds with walking paths and a garden. Residents can join in exercise and wellness classes, spiritual gatherings, social nights with movies or TV, creative arts in the arts room, and outings that take them off-site. Medical supports include 24-hour nurses, medication help, occupational therapy, personal care, dental and podiatry services, hearing care, and an Infection Preventionist/Education Coordinator who runs health programs to keep everyone safe and informed.

Meals cater to a range of needs, so residents get healthy snacks, regular or diabetic meals, low sodium and gluten-free options, and food that considers allergies, all planned by dietary staff, and family guests can even join for a meal. Seniors can count on regular housekeeping and laundry, with the option for dry cleaning, plus transportation for getting to appointments or running errands. The facility has barber and salon services on site, an emergency alert system, smoke alarms, and sprinklers to handle safety concerns. Staff helps with bathing, dressing, moving between bed and chair, and gives particular support to those who need non-ambulatory care, which means care for people who have a hard time moving around on their own. The move-in coordination team helps new residents settle in, and the community always has English-speaking caregivers around.

The activities team, led by the Program Coordinator/Activities staff and supported by resident-run groups, makes sure there are frequent chances to socialize, learn, attend religious services, and be part of education programs. Housekeeping, maintenance, dietary, and social services run smoothly under managers for each department. Family visits and guest meals are encouraged to keep residents close to loved ones. Supervised by Polk County, with a license number 467 and a 5-star Medicare rating, McIntosh Senior Living has always aimed to make residents comfortable, respected, and independent as possible, in an environment where everyone's safety and care come first, and where the staff, with their years of experience, do their best to provide reliable support day and night.
