    Warm social community, good value

I'm very happy living here. The place is warm, bright and spotless, the staff are friendly, caring and quick to help, and the residents are social - there are daily activities, trips, lectures, exercise classes and chapel. Meals are chef-prepared in a lovely dining room (meal plans available), the apartments are well designed with good storage, and the location is excellent for shopping, medical and parking. A few drawbacks: limited two-bed units, no in-unit laundry or walk-in tubs, and occasional billing/maintenance hiccups - but overall it's a welcoming, good-value community I'd recommend.

    Summary review

Overall sentiment across the reviews of Westridge Retirement Community is strongly positive. Reviewers repeatedly emphasize a warm, home-like atmosphere, attentive and caring staff, and a strong sense of community among residents. Many reviewers call out staff who are friendly, responsive, and willing to go the extra mile. Families appreciate proactive communication tools (such as staff alerts and a Presto messaging option) and report that staff often know residents by name and are accommodating with scheduling and individual needs. Clean, well-maintained grounds and common areas, wide well-lit halls, and good security and parking features (heated or underground parking) are frequently praised.

Care quality and staff performance are seen as major strengths. Multiple comments highlight that staff are unobtrusive yet available, supportive, and quick to respond. The presence of a chaplain and active worship and Bible study programs provide spiritual support for interested residents. The community is regularly described as welcoming, with many residents forming friendships and reporting satisfaction with daily life. That said, there are occasional reports of mixed staff performance specifically around orientation, coordination, or billing, so while the front-line care is praised, administrative consistency can vary.

Facilities and apartments receive consistent positive mentions for being attractive, comfortable, and well-designed. Many units include patios or decks, good storage, and bright, clean interiors. The property offers desirable amenities such as multiple gathering spaces, pianos, a pool table, library and video collections, parlor spaces, walking paths, and secure entry. Underground or heated garage parking is an added convenience. However, several practical concerns recur: most units do not have in-unit laundry, some residents must use coin-operated laundry facilities, and bathroom accessibility is limited in places (absence of flexible shower heads, lack of walk-in or step-in tubs). Availability of certain floor plans—especially main-floor two-bedroom units—is limited, and second-floor residents sometimes face long walks to outdoor access.

Dining and food service are important selling points but show mixed feedback. Many reviewers praise the dining room ambiance, chef-cooked meals, always-available coffee, and the convenience of a dining plan. For numerous residents the meal program is a significant plus, and the dining option is described as a major reason they chose the community. Conversely, some reviewers find the food unimpressive, and there are isolated but notable issues: strict or inconvenient meal-plan policies (including difficulty opting out) and situations where special dietary needs were not met, making the community a poor fit for those residents. Prospective residents with specific dietary requirements should verify accommodations in advance.

Activities and programming are commonly cited as strengths: frequent exercise classes (including trainer-led sessions), wellness programs, arts and crafts, guest lecturers, music events, chapel services, resident-run Bible studies, and regular trips and transportation to shopping and cultural events. Reviewers appreciate the regular schedule of social and educational offerings. Still, a subset of residents would like greater variety or more expansive communal spaces; some reviews note that common areas can feel small, and there is no dedicated television or internet room, which limits certain types of group activities for some residents.

Management and operations are generally characterized as helpful and flexible, with staff assisting in move-ins and offering different rental and rate options (including monthly or moderate-rate programs). Positive communication and responsiveness are frequently mentioned. Nevertheless, recurring operational concerns include billing or paperwork coordination issues, occasional maintenance delays (for example, repairs taking longer than expected), and lease or unit-availability constraints (such as difficulty securing a six-month lease or limited availability of preferred floor plans). Cost relative to unit size was mentioned by a few reviewers, so prospective residents should weigh pricing against the specific apartment layout they are offered.

In conclusion, Westridge Retirement Community is portrayed as a warm, safe, and active senior living option with strong staff engagement, appealing common areas, solid programming, and a convenient location near shopping and medical services. It tends to be an excellent fit for social, active seniors who value dining options, regular activities, and a pet-friendly environment. Prospective residents and families should explicitly confirm details around meal policies and dietary accommodations, laundry arrangements and in-unit amenities, bathroom accessibility features, and availability of specific floor plans. Also consider potential administrative variability and maintenance responsiveness when deciding. Overall recommendation is positive, especially for those prioritizing community atmosphere and staff support, with a few practical caveats to check before signing a lease.
