    Beautiful community with caring staff

I toured and chose this community for my mom and we've been very pleased. The building and apartments are beautiful, clean, and well-maintained with handy in-unit laundry and pleasant common spaces. Staff are warm, attentive, and genuinely caring - Tonya, Jada (activities) and Amber in the office went above and beyond and made the move seamless. Activities are varied and engaging (gym, craft room, events) and transportation for groceries and appointments is reliable. Dining is good, residents are happy, and the overall atmosphere is welcoming - I'd recommend it.

    Summary of reviews

Havenwood of Richfield presents a mixed but informative profile. Many families and residents commend the facility’s welcoming atmosphere, newer building features, and wide range of amenities — including a gym, craft room, theater, in-unit laundry in many apartments, and concierge services. The community is often described as social and home-like, with strong peer engagement and opportunities to meet other residents. Memory-care units are frequently characterized as peaceful and smaller in scale, which some families find more comforting and residential.

Direct-care staff, activities personnel, and kitchen leadership receive consistent praise. Reviewers repeatedly highlight compassionate and attentive aides and nurses, hands-on clinical staff, and a highly regarded activities department that runs varied, creative programs and community events. The executive chef and dining leadership are also noted positively for breakfast and lunch offerings. Maintenance and housekeeping staff are often described as responsive when repairs are needed, and front-desk/concierge interactions are described as welcoming.

However, a set of operational weaknesses appears recurrent. Leadership instability and frequent administrative turnover are a persistent concern and are tied to lapses in communication and operational consistency. Understaffing and high personnel turnover are reported to affect service continuity and training, producing uneven care quality across shifts and units. Related to staffing, reviewers describe gaps in medication-management processes, delays in medication evaluation, and uneven family notification about medication changes.

Dining and daily logistics show variability. While some meals and the chef’s offerings receive praise, families describe unreliable meal delivery at times, missed or delayed meals, and inconsistent evening meal satisfaction. Housekeeping and laundry processes are also inconsistent in some units, with families noting missing items and variability in cleaning frequency. Security and access-control processes (for example, delays with building fobs or entry) and a small number of allegations concerning missing valuables raise additional operational concerns.

Resident safety and monitoring are another theme. Reviewers cite instances that suggest gaps in night checks and monitoring practices, occasional delays in staff response, and variable oversight during higher-dependency periods. These reports are tied in several accounts to the broader staffing and training patterns already noted. Families also describe concerns about morale and perceived favoritism that can influence day-to-day resident experience.

In sum, Havenwood of Richfield offers many strengths that are important to prospective residents — a lively activities program, caring front-line staff, attractive physical spaces, and responsive maintenance. These positives are counterbalanced by recurring operational issues: leadership turnover, staffing instability, inconsistent training and monitoring practices, and uneven dining and housekeeping reliability. Prospective families should weigh the facility’s strong social and programmatic assets against these operational risks, ask targeted questions about current leadership stability, staffing ratios and training, medication-management protocols, meal-delivery processes, and security procedures, and seek recent references from current families or an in-person observation of care and mealtime routines before deciding.

    About Havenwood of Richfield

Havenwood of Richfield is a senior living community managed by Life Care Services® that offers independent living, assisted living, memory care, skilled nursing, and respite care all on one campus, so folks can stay even if they need more help later, and the place looks like a craftsman-style building with a cozy, friendly feel and neighbors who like to spend time together, which is nice for people who enjoy community activities and shared spaces like outdoor patios and a coffee shop, and the staff's always around, 24 hours a day, to help out with whatever people need, things like medication management, housekeeping, and laundry. You can pick from pet-friendly studio, one-bedroom, and two-bedroom apartments, all with modern features, private rooms, and your choice of several floor plans, and there's high-speed internet, cable TV, and room service available if you want to stay in and relax. The dining is managed by a professional chef and folks can count on special dishes for different diets, plus guest meals, restaurant-style dining rooms, and the chance to eat with friends, or you can even get room service. They have structured programs for people who need memory care, with special routines and activities for Alzheimer's and other types of dementia, and they also have enhanced assisted living for folks needing more help with daily life, or just regular assisted living where the staff helps with things like bathing or getting dressed. The movie theater, fitness center, salon and barber shop, and organized activity spaces give everyone ways to stay active, and there's always something going on with a busy entertainment calendar, wellness programs, and both indoor and outdoor walking paths for those who like to get outside. The community is pet-friendly, so folks who love dogs or cats can bring them, and transportation services make it possible to get around town without any trouble, so people don't have to worry about driving. If someone just needs short-term help after a hospital stay or surgery, there's respite care available, and families have access to billing online to keep track of expenses. It's a place that tries to support people as their needs change, so you don't have to move if you need a different level of care, and there's a sense of warmth and genuine hospitality throughout the place, which folks tend to appreciate, and the staff is known for being well-trained and attentive, doing their best to help everyone feel comfortable and included.
