    Comfortable safe caring small facility

I live in this small, homey 20-room facility and am very pleased. The staff are caring, attentive and quick to respond (their vigilance has been life-saving), Nikki and the owner are approachable, the place is spotless and safe, and my spacious, handicap-accessible apartment has ample storage; excellent cooks, snacks, a well-lit dining area, individualized laundry with no extra charge, an on-site salon, Friday movies, a lovely patio and active social opportunities make it a comfortable, affordable alternative to a nursing home.

    Summary of reviews

Spring Grove Assisted Living presents as a small, home-like assisted living community with a clear emphasis on attentive, personalized care. Reviews consistently highlight staff responsiveness — particularly rapid responses to call buttons and attentive monitoring in urgent situations — and services that reduce daily household burdens for residents, such as individualized laundry at no extra charge and onsite personal-care amenities like a beauty parlor. Private apartments are noted as spacious and accessible, with ample storage, a private bathroom, and an open, well-lit dining area that reinforces a homelike atmosphere.

The staff and management receive favorable mention for kindness, approachability, and clear communication. An approachable administrator/owner is described as responsive, and families cite ongoing communication and support during events such as storms. Cleanliness and infection-control measures, including COVID-19 precautions, are frequently noted as strengths. Reviewers also praise dining quality and the kitchen staff, indicating consistent meal satisfaction as a positive element of daily life.

Activity programming appears to focus on smaller-group and communal offerings: examples include a Friday movie night, snacks in the dining room, and general social opportunities tied to the facility’s intimate scale. These offerings support social engagement and a sense of not being alone, but programming breadth is modest compared with larger communities. Prospective residents who prioritize a wide variety of structured activities or specialized recreational therapists should inquire about the current calendar and any additional offerings.

The facility’s small size is a recurring structural characteristic with both benefits and limitations. The scale contributes to a personalized, secure, and homey environment, but it also implies limited bed availability and fewer on-site clinical or rehabilitative resources than would be found in a larger assisted-living or nursing facility. Dependence on a small staff team can constrain scheduling flexibility and coverage during peak demands. Prospective residents and families should assess clinical needs, medication-management processes, and staff-coverage plans, and confirm availability when timing is critical.

Overall, Spring Grove appears to offer a clean, caring, and cost-competitive option for people seeking a small, residential assisted-living setting with strong personal attention and meal quality. For those with significant medical or therapy needs, or who require an extensive activity schedule, it would be prudent to verify the facility’s clinical capabilities and current programming before placement.

    About Spring Grove Assisted Living

Spring Grove Assisted Living sits at 130 5th Ave SE, right in Spring Grove, Minnesota, and has stood there serving local residents since 2005 as a family-owned place, which means you get that kind of steady, familiar care you'd expect from folks who have been invested in their community a long time, and with Nicole Kimmerle, RN, CHPN, as the main contact and Nikki Kimmerle as the lab director, the staff keep things organized while staying friendly and available to help. The building holds 20 units, and you can find different kinds of rooms-Small Studio, Medium Studio, and a Large 1 Bedroom with Kitchenette, each with a private bathroom, so folks can keep their privacy and settle in as they like, and they sometimes have small studios ready to go right away, which is handy if someone needs to move pretty quickly. The care here focuses on helping seniors with daily tasks, and with trained staff around day and night, you won't have to worry about waiting for support, and if someone needs extra help because of memory problems, they'll find that sort of care too. Meals get served three times a day at tables in a welcoming dining space, and snacks get offered too, so no one's left feeling hungry, and the staff always pay attention to what each person needs. There are charming common rooms and outdoor courtyards, places where residents can gather, visit, or just sit outside a while when the weather's good, and you're close to all sorts of spots around Spring Grove like parks, churches, grocery stores, the movie theater, and gyms. Besides basic care, the facility uses different tools and features like sample tracking, custom alerts, and a simple customer relationship system, showing they're organized behind the scenes. Spring Grove Assisted Living operates on an official license as a Nursing & Custodial Care Facility and is set up as a waiver facility as well, always focusing on individual support and keeping a calm, dependable place for seniors who need a bit more help as they age. They also keep a Facebook page at www.facebook.com/sgassistedliving/ and a website at assistedliving.com/minnesota/spring-grove for folks who want to look things up.
