    Welcoming, spotless, caring, home-like community

I moved in recently and couldn't be happier - Margie (and Diana) and the staff made the seamless move-in effortless and genuinely welcoming. The community feels like family: staff know me by name, coordinate care well, and keep the place spotless and well-run. My apartment is large, bright with big windows and a private deck; the dining room is beautiful and meals are excellent, with plenty of activities and a chapel on site. Only downsides: the exercise room is nearly nonexistent and some areas have darker decor, but overall I highly recommend this caring, professional, home-like community.

    Summary review

Overall sentiment across the reviews is strongly positive. Multiple reviewers emphasize a warm, personal culture: staff are described as friendly, attentive, and personable—greeting residents by name, remembering dinner preferences, and offering compliments. Leadership receives repeated praise, with the director (named Margie/Margi) and staff member Diana singled out several times for responsiveness and compassion. Reviewers consistently say the staff are professional, well-trained, and thorough in explanations during tours and move-in, and many report that nursing coordination and care delivery are well organized.

Facility and move-in experience are frequently praised. The community is characterized as beautifully updated and thoughtfully decorated, with many comments about large windows, abundant natural light, large apartments and kitchens, and private decks. Common areas are described as ample, bright, and well maintained, with wide, well-lit hallways and a neat, clean appearance. Several reviews note a seamless moving process and well-coordinated moving services that made transitioning straightforward. Practical building highlights include easy, safe access to nearby libraries, parks, and local amenities, and the presence of a Catholic chapel for spiritual needs.

Dining and social life are strong recurring themes. The dining room is repeatedly called amazing—bright, pleasant, almost like eating outdoors while remaining indoors—and reviewers praise the food and the dining experience. Activities and events receive positive mentions as well; reviewers describe an active calendar, opportunities to participate, and a community atmosphere where residents make friends and enjoy social engagement. The overall tone suggests residents feel well cared for, engaged, and at home, with several reviewers explicitly recommending the community and noting family-like treatment of residents.

Operationally, the community is viewed as well run. Staff are described as knowledgeable, professional, and energetic, and management is seen as supportive and generous to the community. Admissions staff are noted as accommodating and helpful. Reviewers also appreciate COVID-aware procedures where applicable, and the facility’s responsiveness to safety and procedural concerns. The combination of professional operations and personable caregiving creates a consistent pattern of satisfaction.

There are a few recurring caveats to consider. A minority of reviews point to areas with darker lighting and heavier decor, which some found less appealing. The community’s smaller, more intimate scale is a plus for many reviewers but may not suit those seeking a larger campus-style environment. Fitness amenities appear limited—specifically, the exercise room is described as almost nonexistent—so prospective residents who prioritize robust on-site fitness facilities may find this lacking. Additionally, one noted configuration is a single dining room serving both assisted and independent living residents; while not framed universally as a negative, it was mentioned as a potential concern for those who prefer separation of dining spaces by care level. A few comments describe parts of the facility as simpler in certain respects despite overall updates and attractive décor.

In sum, reviews portray Highland Path as a well-managed, clean, and welcoming senior living community with standout staff and leadership, excellent dining and social opportunities, and strong move-in and admissions support. The main trade-offs to weigh are the community’s smaller scale, limited exercise facilities, and a few aesthetic preferences (lighting/decor) that may not match every prospective resident’s taste. For families and seniors prioritizing personalized care, a friendly culture, bright apartments, and engaging communal life, Highland Path is repeatedly recommended by reviewers.

    About Highland Path

Highland Path sits in the Highland neighborhood of Saint Paul at 1925 Norfolk Ave, right in ZIP code 55116, and even though you can't find it listed for rent or sale at the moment, the building stands as an apartment-style community where seniors live on their own while still having help nearby if they want it, and the nice thing is, there are options for independent living, assisted living, and memory care so people can pick what fits best as their health changes over time. The apartments themselves come as studios, one-bedroom, or two-bedroom spaces, and some of them include private decks, vaulted ceilings, dens, stainless steel appliances, granite countertops, walk-in closets, and balconies, plus each apartment has its own heating and air conditioning controls-and inside the apartment kitchens are fully set up for real cooking if that's something residents enjoy.

This place focuses on making life easier by offering support for daily things like bathing, dressing, medication help, meal prep, and cleaning, and there are personal care assistants around whenever needed-in fact, they've got nurses on staff and there's wound care, podiatry visits, medication support, and occupational therapy too, along with a secured memory care unit that serves people living with Alzheimer's or other dementias to help with safety, confusion, and wandering. Highland Path keeps a steady schedule of activities with arts and crafts, fitness classes, games, music, movies in their on-site theater, worship services of several kinds, health and wellness events, education programs, and even outings for shopping and visits around town. There's also a dedicated space for art and creativity, an on-site library, and a lounge called Riverside Lounge where folks can gather for a chat, plus a fitness center to help everyone stay as independent as possible.

The community offers regular meals in a dining room along with guest dining, and extra dining choices if someone needs them, and for those who prefer to spend time on their own, kitchens and kitchenettes are there, along with washers and dryers, basic cable, landline phone, and unsecured Wi-Fi as part of what's called a Technology Package. Housekeeping, maintenance, and laundry services take away some of the basic worries, and there are transportation services for doctor visits, errands, and planned offsite activities.

There are some nice amenities for comfort-salon and barbershop, a car wash bay, garage parking, guest parking, a sprinkler system for safety, individually controlled heating and cooling, and a secured courtyard. Highland Path also provides staff to help with diabetic, incontinence, and non-ambulatory care needs, and if residents ever need more help, there's home care, hospice support, and transitional care too, plus Presbyterian Homes & Services comes in for rehabilitative services when needed. Memory care is a focus here, including daily cognitive programs and a protected space, with support for changes as health needs go up or down. Social clubs, community dining, and a strong sense of togetherness help counter loneliness, while the facility works to create a safe and welcoming place for everyone-the community offers housing rights protections for LGBTQ residents and people of varying income sources, and the staff aim to make moving in and adjusting as smooth as possible for both seniors and their families. Many things about the outdoor spaces, pet policies, or parking details aren't made clear, but the main strengths you'll notice are the range of living and care levels, activity choices, attention to memory care, community support, guest amenities, regular meals, and a building set up for safety and comfort, so people can age in place with a bit more peace of mind.
