    Spacious apartment, caring staff, pricey

I moved my mom into a new, very clean facility with a twice-as-large apartment and about $3,000 lower monthly cost than her previous place, and so far it's been a good experience. Staff are caring, knowledgeable and responsive - they administer meds, provide personal care, and are fantastic with families. There are plenty of activities (bingo, church, prayer group added, daily events), basic cable is included, and transportation is available for a fee. The community is pleasant and well cared-for, but meals are repetitive and uninspiring at times, and the final cost was higher than I expected.

    Summary review

Overall sentiment in the reviews for Pleasant View Assisted Living is largely positive, with frequent praise for the facility's physical condition, staff, and activity offerings. Multiple reviewers emphasize that the building is new, attractive, clean, and well-maintained. Several comments describe the community as pleasant and nice-looking, with a tidy dining and common area environment. For families considering relocation, some reviewers specifically note larger apartment sizes and closer proximity to family as important benefits.

Staff and caregiving come across as a strong, consistent theme. Reviewers characterize the staff as caring, knowledgeable, conscientious, and very responsive. Several mentions indicate that personal care needs and medication administration are reliably handled by staff members, and at least one reviewer states their relative is "being taken care of well." The tone around staff is uniformly favorable, with words like "fantastic" and "nice and helpful" used to describe daily interactions and responsiveness to resident needs.

Activities and resident life are another area of strength. The community offers daily activities, with specific programs called out including bingo, church services, and a prayer group that was added after suggestions were welcomed. Reviewers note there are more activities than at a previous facility, suggesting an active social environment suitable for residents who value engagement and structured programming.

Dining and food quality present the clearest area of concern. While meals are provided and the dining atmosphere is described as family-friendly, multiple reviewers criticize the menu as repetitive and uninspiring. Specific complaints include bland soups, canned fruit, and the same menu being served repeatedly. One reviewer calls the dining area food "OK," signaling that while meals are adequate, they do not stand out in quality or variety. This recurring criticism suggests dining is an area management could improve to better meet resident expectations.

Cost and fees show mixed perceptions among reviewers. Several people praise the facility for being lower cost compared with alternatives—one remark specifically cites about $3,000 less per month—while another reviewer states the cost was higher than anticipated. Additionally, practical service fees such as transportation are noted as available only for an extra charge. These comments indicate that pricing is generally competitive for some, but prospective residents and families should review the full fee structure carefully, including ancillary service charges.

In summary, Pleasant View Assisted Living is portrayed as a well-kept, welcoming community with strong, compassionate staff and an active schedule of activities that improves residents' daily life. The most consistent downside in the reviews is dining quality and menu variety, along with some variability in cost perceptions and extra fees for services like transportation. Prospective residents should be encouraged by the positive reports about care and environment but may want to ask management detailed questions about meal planning, dietary options, and a complete breakdown of monthly and ancillary fees before deciding.

The facility covers a range of care, from assisted living and memory care for those with dementia, to home care, hospice, and respite care for short stays or health transitions, and Pleasant View is recognized as part of a Continuing Care Retirement Community (CCRC), which means people can start off living more on their own and then get more help as they need it, allowing them to stay in the same community. The staff is trained to help with medical needs, including insulin monitoring and transferring from bed to wheelchair, and they've got medication dispensers and medical alert systems; the care plans, activities, and services can be adapted for individuals' needs, and the staff are dedicated to providing personalized assistance as required.

Pleasant View Assisted Living welcomes seniors who can move on their own using a device, manage their own continence, respond to emergency signals, and walk to and from the dining room without help, and it's got independent living options like townhomes, condos, and senior apartments, in addition to companion care for those who need more direct support. Residents have a chance to take part in a lot of community activities throughout the day, both inside and outside the building, with plenty of chances to meet new people, visit with friends, and keep busy. Health services include diabetic care, non-ambulatory care, incontinence care, and 24-hour nursing for those who need protective oversight, all overseen following state regulations by Missouri's Department of Social Services. The facility has not been rated by the Better Business Bureau and it does not have BBB accreditation, so there's not much information from that source, but it's still a place where older adults can get the necessary services and care in a comfortable setting, with staff focused on providing a safe, nutritious, and engaging daily life.
