    Horrible care, filthy, neglectful facility

I would never send my loved one here. Nurses were horrible, meds and treatments were late or missed, call lights went unanswered for 30-45 minutes, and residents were left soiled while rooms had flies/cockroaches, urine smell, leaking ceilings and no A/C. Staff were often rude, unprofessional or borderline abusive, management ignored grievances and seemed indifferent - there were a few kind employees, but overall it's unsafe and not viable for short- or long-term care.

    Summary review

Overall impression and sentiment The reviews for Timberlake Care Center show a deeply mixed and polarized picture. Many reviewers describe genuinely positive experiences — compassionate, attentive staff; strong therapy and rehab services; enjoyable dining and social programming; and visible facility improvements under new management. At the same time, a substantial number of reviews report serious problems: poor sanitation, environmental failures (A/C and leaks), care omissions (missed meds, missed treatments, poor hygiene), pest infestations, and episodes of neglect. The volume and severity of the negative reports suggest systemic inconsistencies: some units, shifts, or time periods appear to provide good-quality care and amenities, while others fall short in ways that risk resident safety and dignity.

Care quality and safety Care quality is where the reviews vary most dramatically. Positive accounts praise dedicated nursing staff and aides who nursed residents back to health, responsive therapy teams that improved function, and staff who provided personalized attention. Conversely, many reviews describe dangerous lapses: long call-light response times (reports of 30–45 minutes), missed medications and breathing treatments, residents left in urine or feces, bedsores from lack of turning, and staff not following through with dietary or medical needs. These latter accounts include allegations that the director of nursing defended neglect and that grievances were ignored for extended periods. This split suggests that while pockets of competent care exist, there are recurring failure modes that can lead to serious harm for vulnerable residents.

Staff behavior, training, and consistency Multiple reviews applaud caring, compassionate employees and single out therapy, social services, and business office staff as helpful and efficient. However, a nearly equal number of reviews characterize staff as inattentive, rude, unprofessional, under-qualified, or motivated primarily by pay. Use of agency staff and perceived understaffing are common themes that reviewers link to poor responsiveness and missed care. Several reviews note that performance varies by employee and shift — some staff are “top notch,” while others are lethargic or even borderline abusive. This variability points to problems with hiring, training, retention, oversight, or morale that management needs to address to create consistent standards of care.

Facilities, cleanliness, and environment Descriptions of the physical environment are mixed. Positive comments reference a pretty campus, natural light, an aquarium and bird cage in the lobby, and well-kept common areas. In contrast, several reviewers report serious sanitation and maintenance issues in resident rooms and corridors: dirty carpets, trash left in rooms, urine smells, flies and cockroaches, ceiling leaks, and windows that allow rain in. Some reviewers also report that air conditioning was absent for weeks or leaking, leading to extreme heat conditions in resident rooms. These environmental problems have both comfort and infection-control implications and reflect inconsistent housekeeping and facilities management.

Dining and specialized diets Dining receives divided feedback. Many reviewers praise the dining room experience: varied menus, enjoyable items (bacon singled out), prompt serving staff, and good quality at times. Other reviewers describe very poor meals — “slop,” powdered eggs, watered-down juice — and, critically, failure to adhere to therapeutic dietary needs such as diabetic and dialysis diets. Reports of food for special diets running out or kitchen staff lacking understanding of dietary restrictions are serious red flags for residents with clinical nutrition needs.

Activities and amenities Activity programming is frequently highlighted as a strength: many activities, meaningful engagement, chapel services, and community spaces. However, some reviewers say residents have less freedom compared with other communities, and amenities appear uneven (e.g., the smoking patio noted as a lone amenity in a negative review). Overall, the activity/engagement program seems to be one area where Timberlake performs well for many residents.

Management and responsiveness There are clear differences in perceptions of leadership. Several reviewers credit a proactive administrator and management team for refurbishments, efficiency in business and social services, and responsiveness to issues. Others report defensive or abusive administrative behavior, ignored grievances, restrictions on visitation, refusal to resolve room-placement problems, and even threats to call police. These divergent reports suggest management turnover or inconsistent leadership practices. Positive comments about recent upgrades and improved services may reflect management attempts at remediation, but persistent critical reports indicate that improvements may not be uniform or longstanding.

Patterns, risk areas, and recommendations for families The dominant pattern is variability: high-quality care and amenities exist alongside severe lapses that can endanger residents. The most consequential risk areas are missed medications and treatments, hygiene neglect leading to bedsores and incontinence-related abuses, environmental issues (pests, leaks, lack of A/C), and inconsistent staff professionalism. For families considering Timberlake Care Center or monitoring a loved one there, the reviews suggest several concrete steps: ask about nurse staffing ratios and use of agency staff; request tour of the specific unit and patient rooms; inquire about infection-control and pest management protocols; verify procedures for dietary management (especially diabetic and dialysis diets); check call-light response-time policies; clarify grievance and family communication policies; and seek recent references from current families or county inspection reports. If an immediate safety concern exists (missed meds, bedsores, severe neglect), escalate to the facility's leadership and regulators promptly.

Overall conclusion Timberlake Care Center elicits strongly polarized experiences. It appears capable of providing high-quality rehab, engaging activities, and compassionate care in many cases, particularly where therapy, social services, and certain administrative staff are involved. However, recurring and severe allegations — sanitation failures, neglect, medication and treatment omissions, pests, and inconsistent management — create a substantial risk profile. Prospective residents and families should perform thorough due diligence, monitor care closely, and be prepared to escalate concerns or consider alternatives if they observe the negative patterns reported by multiple reviewers.

    About Timberlakecare Center

Timberlakecare Center stays open every day from 9 in the morning until 9 at night and offers a senior community focused on assisted living and Alzheimer's care, with plenty of options for seniors who need different care services, so folks can stay after a hospital visit or live there long-term if needed. The care staff help with bathing, dressing, and other daily tasks, and they speak English, which many families find important for clear communication, plus they provide medication management and 24-hour supervision with an emergency alert system for added safety, and non-ambulatory care is available for those who have trouble moving around. Dr. Rafael Torosyan, a nephrologist, visits the clinic and the center can help with conditions like Osteoarthritis of the Knee, Deep Vein Thrombosis, head pain including migraines, kidney problems, bronchitis, and other acute conditions, and the professional staff also cover nursing and skilled rehabilitation services like physical, occupational, and speech therapies, along with mental health and speech and language pathology support for those who need extra help. Dining at Timberlakecare Center happens in a restaurant-style setting with a chef preparing meals all day that work for allergies and special diets like diabetes, and Medicaid and Medicare are accepted for payment, which helps some residents and families. Rooms come furnished with private bathrooms, kitchenettes, cable TV, phones, air conditioning, and internet, making it comfortable, and moving in gets easier with help from the staff plus everything staying wheelchair accessible for all parts of the building. Around the center, seniors can join in both community-sponsored and resident-run activities, use the arts and fitness rooms, see movies in the small theater, walk outside on paths, visit the garden or library, or join scheduled activities while transportation and parking options make visits easier, and the business and activity rooms give some extra space for hobbies or group programs. Housekeeping and laundry are handled for residents, and advice is available for planning senior living if it feels confusing at first, and with memory care plus different senior living choices, the staff try to match each person's needs to their own care plan. The whole place tries to feel like home, with special programs focused on helping both body and mind, and the skilled and compassionate staff support emotional and physical health every day.
