    Cleaner care yet unsafe, untrustworthy

I'm cautiously optimistic after the new administration - the place is cleaner and many caregivers are caring with improved quality of care. However I had a terrible first impression from a rude, unhelpful front desk that wouldn't transfer calls; I've witnessed neglect, staff being belittled, and money/personal items go missing. Despite some positive changes, the environment felt unsafe and I would not send my loved ones there.

    Summary review

Overall sentiment in the reviews is mixed but leans toward serious concern with a notable, recent shift toward cautious optimism. Several reviews contain very strong negative language and serious allegations — including theft of money and personal belongings, neglect, an unsafe environment, and reports of belittling behavior — which indicate deep trust and safety issues among some reviewers. These negative reports are accompanied by frequent complaints about front desk and customer service interactions (described as rude, disrespectful, and unhelpful) and specific communication failures such as not assisting or transferring phone calls. At least one reviewer framed their experience with extreme negativity ('worst place in Missouri'), underscoring how acute and emotive some complaints are.

At the same time, reviews also identify positive elements. Multiple summaries highlight caring staff, good quality of care, and a clean facility. Importantly, several reviewers note a change in leadership: a new administration is in place and is credited with implementing positive changes and improvements. That change in management appears to have generated optimism among some reviewers who expect conditions to continue improving. This creates a clear pattern of polarized perceptions: older or longer-standing complaints versus more recent reports of reform and improvement.

Breaking the themes down by aspect: care quality and staffing are described in conflicting terms. 'Caring staff' and 'good quality of care' appear in positive comments, suggesting that many caregivers perform well and residents receive appropriate clinical attention. Conversely, allegations of neglect and belittling behavior point to serious failures in respect, dignity, and consistent care delivery for other residents. Staffing-related problems also show up through poor customer service and front desk interactions; these suggest weaknesses in training, oversight, or morale at the administrative or reception level.

Safety and security are central concerns in the negative reviews. Theft of money and belongings is a severe allegation that directly affects resident trust and the facility's duty of care. Reports describing an 'unsafe environment' amplify this concern; together with accounts of staff or systems failing to respond to calls or requests, these issues present significant risk signals that reviewers emphasized. The combination of alleged theft, neglect, and communication failures represents the most acute set of complaints in the dataset.

Management and administrative responsiveness emerge as a contrasting theme. The arrival of new administration and reported early improvements are the primary positive management-related notes. Reviewers explicitly link leadership change to better conditions and express optimism for continued positive change. This indicates that some of the negative patterns may predate the current administration or are being actively addressed, according to reviewers who commented on the transition.

Facilities and environment are less contested: the facility is described as clean in the positive summaries. There is no detailed feedback about dining or activities in the provided reviews — those areas are not mentioned and therefore cannot be evaluated from this dataset. The absence of commentary about meals and programming means no conclusions should be drawn about those services from the available summaries.

In summary, the reviews paint a picture of a facility with two competing narratives. One narrative is deeply negative, highlighting theft, neglect, safety concerns, disrespectful customer service, and poor responsiveness. The other is cautiously positive, pointing to caring staff, good care experiences, cleanliness, and an active effort by new administration to improve conditions. The overall pattern is polarized but shows a recent trend toward improvement according to multiple reviewers. Any assessment based solely on these summaries should weigh the serious nature of the allegations against the reported managerial changes and improvements; the data suggests both historic problems that affected resident safety and dignity and early signs of corrective action under new leadership.

    About Riverview Nursing Center

Riverview Nursing Center in Mokane, Missouri, is a smaller facility with space for about 40 residents, and it has rooms set up for short-term rehab, long-term care, and therapy, with each room including a private bathroom, toiletries, cable television, and Wi-Fi, which makes it comfortable while you recover or stay long term, and they do have kitchenettes, telephones, and air conditioning in the rooms for convenience. This place helps people who need help going from the hospital back home with short-term rehab and also helps those who need nursing home or intermediate care due to health needs, with a skilled nursing staff on-site day and night for medication management, bathing, dressing, transfers, and help with other daily tasks, and non-ambulatory care, and there's always 24-hour supervision if someone needs it. Riverview offers physical, occupational, and speech therapy, plus specialized care programs such as lab, podiatry, vision, psychiatric, and wound care, which helps folks who need more than basic support, and they do accept Medicaid and Medicare, so more people can get help here if they need it. For meals, there's a dining room with restaurant-style service, a professional chef, and meals planned for special dietary needs like diabetes and allergies, with options all day, and they try to focus on nutritious, balanced diets made with good ingredients. Residents can get transportation for appointments or outings, which makes things easier, and there are scheduled daily activities like movie nights, arts and music programs, fitness classes, walking paths outdoors, resident-run games or activities, and a garden to enjoy, so there's a good bit to do if anyone wants to join in. The facility has community spaces like a game room, movie theater, business room, spa area, library, activity and arts rooms, parking areas, outdoor spaces, and an emergency alert system for safety, and they offer move-in support and regular housekeeping so residents can settle in and focus on their care or therapy. Staff tries to treat residents and families with dignity and respect, creating a homelike and family-friendly environment that makes folks feel more comfortable, and there's a local advisor service for questions about their services. Still, it's important to know that inspection reports over the years have found 18 total deficiencies, including issues with infection control, care planning, and resident safety, plus problems protecting residents' belongings or money, so families may want to review the reports for peace of mind. Nurse turnover has been at about 65%, with about 3 nurse staffing hours per resident per day, so care levels may shift sometimes, but registered nurses and other licensed staff are there daily to help with health needs, and the focus does remain on helping those with serious or ongoing health problems. Riverview Nursing Center belongs to Circle B Enterprises Holding Company Inc., so it runs as a for-profit business, with a clear dedication to long-term and short-term care for older adults. The facility provides a variety of personalized amenities and services but has also faced oversight and staffing challenges.
