    Good for social, not medical

I appreciated the clean, well-maintained, family-run, home-like setting in a scenic, convenient Ozark location - small, caring and intelligent staff, three hot meals plus snacks/coffee and homemade ice cream, hymn singing/Bible study, bingo/game time, TVs, kitchenettes and private phones. Staff are friendly and social, but I observed professionalism concerns and childish behavior; pricing is high and the facility is not medically capable - there have been medication errors and hospitalizations, and I was advised to look elsewhere for higher-acuity care. Also expect confusing signage and outdated online photos/maps. Overall: great for low-care, social living; not for complex medical needs.

    Summary review

Overall sentiment across the review summaries is mixed but leans toward positive for families seeking a small, home-like assisted living option with a strong personal touch. Multiple reviewers praise Country Living Assisted Living as a family-run, intimate facility that feels home-like and offers personalized attention. The facility is described as clean, neat, and well-maintained, set in a scenic Ozark location that reviewers find convenient. Many commenters emphasized warm relationships between staff and residents, noting friendly, caring, and socially engaged staff who build meaningful connections with residents. The environment appears to promote a sense of community, with frequent references to gratitude and recommendations, including at least one reviewer calling it the best facility in the Ozark area.

Dining and activities are consistently noted as strengths. Reviews mention three hot meals a day, readily available snacks, coffee and tea, and charming touches such as homemade ice cream. Recreational and spiritual programming is part of the routine, with hymn singing, Bible studies, bingo, and game time cited as regular activities. Rooms appear to be reasonably accommodating for comfortable living, with in-room TVs, kitchenettes, and private phone access reported. These elements contribute to the home-like atmosphere and appear to support residents' social and emotional needs.

Despite many positive descriptions, a significant and recurring concern across reviews is the facility's medical capability and safety. Several reviewers explicitly state that the community is not medically equipped for residents with higher or complex healthcare needs. More seriously, there are reports of medication errors and ensuing hospitalizations in some instances; at least one review mentions families being advised to seek alternative placements because of these issues. These points suggest variability in clinical oversight and medication management practices, and they represent the most serious negative pattern in the dataset.

Staff behavior and professionalism receive mixed commentary. While many reviewers praise staff for being caring and intelligent, other reviews raise concerns about staff professionalism, describing childish or inappropriate behavior in some instances. This inconsistency suggests variability in staff performance or possible interpersonal issues among team members. Pricing is also called out as high by some reviewers, and there are notes that certain residents may require more assistance than the facility routinely provides, which may factor into family decisions when balancing cost against level-of-care needs.

Operational and marketing shortcomings are also present in the reviews. Several reviewers pointed out practical navigation problems: signage errors, incorrect map directions, and a missing or hard-to-find entrance. Marketing materials or listing photos are described as outdated, omitting the current entrance and added buildings on the property, which has led to confusion for visitors. These logistics and information accuracy issues, while not directly about resident care, affect first impressions and the ease of visitation and move-in.

In summary, Country Living Assisted Living is consistently described as a small, family-run facility with a home-like culture, attentive social programming, and many reviewers praising the cleanliness, scenic location, and warm staff-resident relationships. However, the facility appears to be better suited to residents with lower medical needs. Recurrent and serious concerns about medication management, resulting hospitalizations, and occasional staff professionalism issues suggest that families with complex care requirements should exercise caution. Prospective residents and families would be well-advised to verify current medication management protocols, staff training and turnover, exact levels of care provided, up-to-date pricing, and to request recent photos and clear directions before making placement decisions.

    About Country Living Assisted Living

Country Living Assisted Living sits about 5.9 miles from Farmington, Missouri, right in Mountain Grove, and it has a reputation for being the highest-rated community in the area with an average score of 8 out of 10, so folks tend to like it there. The place has room for about 40 residents and offers independent living and assisted living, meaning some people do most things for themselves and some get extra help as needed, and there's a real effort to keep everyone active and involved. You'll find different types of rooms here, like studio, one-bedroom, and two-bedroom layouts, some with kitchenettes, all with private spaces for comfort and a bit of quiet.

The staff are around all day and night, so help is always close by for emergencies or just moving from beds to wheelchairs, and they're ready and able to support folks who need insulin monitoring, incontinence care, or help with daily things like bathing, dressing, or taking medicine. There's a community dining room with meals served restaurant-style all day, and they have menus for different health needs such as diabetes or allergies, which definitely helps with keeping meal prep simple, and there's always the chance to enjoy a meal with others.

Country Living Assisted Living pays attention to well-being, offering activities both on and offsite, from movie nights and art activities to garden walks on their walking paths or quiet reading in the community library. Residents can get involved in devotional services for spiritual support, or just spend time in furnished indoor spaces made for socializing. Handling laundry, housekeeping, and coordinating move-ins help make things smoother, and there's a phone in every room in case anyone needs to reach the staff quickly. Medical facilities are less than a mile away, which gives peace of mind, and the emergency alert systems throughout the building back that up, too.

What you get here is a balance between independence and getting help where it's needed, with special care for people who have trouble walking or need non-ambulatory support. Services cover a lot, with everything from meal prep and medication management to group activities and offsite trips, and it all happens in a place where staff pay close attention but don't hover. The setting is medium-sized, so the community feels more personal, and folks have space but aren't alone in their day-to-day, and with daily social events, there's usually something to do or someone to talk with if you want it.
