    Friendly staff, clean, small, limited

I moved my sister in and overall I was pleased: the staff were friendly, accommodating, knew residents by name, and very helpful with the move-in. Activities have improved with a new director and there's a strong, home-like community in a quiet, shaded spot near a golf course; VA assistance and reasonable pricing were a plus. The older building is clean and well-kept, but it's a small place not ideal for higher-level medical decline - some semi-private rooms feel hospital-like and lack private baths. I would recommend it for someone needing good basic care and a supportive staff.

    Summary review

Overall sentiment in the reviews is mixed but leans positive around the human side of care and affordability, while raising clear concerns about the physical environment and capability for higher-acuity care. Multiple reviewers emphasize that Saint Ann Assisted Living Center is a small, home-like community where staff are friendly, supportive, and personally engaged with residents. Staff responsiveness shows up repeatedly: reviewers note helpful move-in assistance, staff who know residents by first name, and generally accommodating, flexible management. These aspects contribute to strong interpersonal impressions and several recommendations from families who felt the facility provided good basic assisted living.

Care quality is described positively in many summaries — phrases such as excellent care, very helpful staff, and residents seeming happy appear several times. At the same time, there are recurrent concerns about the facility’s ability to support residents whose health declines. A number of reviewers mentioned that a resident (for example, a sister) had to move out when their needs increased, and at least one review explicitly warns about needing a higher level of care. This pattern suggests Saint Ann is suited to residents with stable, moderate assisted-living needs but may be less appropriate for those who expect progressive clinical requirements or frequent medical support.

Facility condition and layout are a notable area of divergence. Several reviewers describe the building as older and no-frills but well-kept and clean; others explicitly call attention to filthy or poorly maintained areas and describe a depressing, hospital-like atmosphere. Room configurations also draw specific critique: semi-private apartments that resemble hospital rooms, shared toilets, and private suites without attached restrooms are mentioned. These details point to a facility with limited private bathroom availability and a basic physical plant that may feel institutional to some families. The mixed reports on cleanliness and upkeep indicate inconsistent maintenance or variations over time or by wing; prospective residents should verify current conditions in person.

Activities and engagement are generally adequate and improving. Multiple summaries note that activities are available and that residents seemed involved; one review highlights improvement after a new activities director arrived. Dining is described as "good basic food," consistent with the overall no-frills characterization. Pricing is an identified strength: reviewers report the facility is reasonably priced and that VA financial assistance can be used, which makes it an attractive option for budget-conscious families.

Location and environment receive positive mentions: the center is described as quiet, with lots of shade and proximity to a golf course and a daycare, which may be appealing to those who value a calm setting. Management and staff flexibility, particularly around move-in and accommodation, are recurring positives and likely contribute to the favorable recommendations from some families.

In summary, Saint Ann Assisted Living Center appears to be a small, affordable, relationship-focused assisted living option with caring staff and decent basic services. Its strengths are personal attention, move-in support, reasonable cost, and an improving activity program. Its limitations are an older, basic physical plant that some find depressing or poorly maintained, semi-private or otherwise limited private bathroom arrangements, and potential difficulty accommodating residents whose care needs increase substantially. Prospective residents and families should weigh the positive staff and cost attributes against the facility’s physical condition and scope of medical care, and are advised to tour the facility, check the specific room and bathroom layouts, inquire about recent maintenance and cleanliness practices, and confirm whether the center can meet anticipated future care needs.

About Saint Ann Assisted Living Center

Saint Ann Assisted Living Center sits on one floor with wide hallways, so folks using walkers or wheelchairs can move around easy, and there's always someone nearby because staff work 24 hours a day, keeping watch and answering emergency calls from any apartment or bathroom if needed, and the staff includes nurses, state-certified medication aides, a doctor on call, and even an in-house psychiatrist. The community is medium-sized with licensed beds for forty residents, and it keeps a friendly feel because the staff know the folks who live there and help with things like bathing, dressing, grooming, and making sure medicine is taken right, which is good for people who like some independence but need a little support for daily things. Saint Ann Assisted Living Center takes care to offer diabetic care like insulin injections and sliding scale therapy, incontinence reminders to use the restroom, and memory care for people with Alzheimer's or dementia in a safe area designed to prevent wandering, plus personalized care services to match each person's needs.

Residents can join in scheduled activities every day: bingo, crafts, movie nights, birthday events, and church services, with options for both Catholic and non-denominational worship, and there's a van for special outings so folks who want to get out now and then can do so without hassle. Meals are included three times a day, home-cooked and balanced for taste and nutrition, plus snacks, with options for special diets like low/no sugar or low/no sodium, and residents have access to two dining rooms, including a private space for visits with family and friends. For those who like to get outside, there are scenic walking paths and patio gardens, and for indoor time, there's a TV lounge, piano and organ, library, and a spacious multi-purpose room for events or just chatting with neighbors. Residents' rooms get free satellite TV, internet, housekeeping, laundry, and all utilities are covered, with both private and semi-private rooms available.

The center has a barber and beauty shop on-site, as well as a podiatrist, dentist, eye care, and therapists for physical, occupational, and speech needs, alongside a 24-hour pharmacy, laboratory, and X-ray services, so people usually don't have to leave for checkups or prescriptions. Folks who use wheelchairs will find showers and other features accessible, and the place supports aging in place, so most people can keep living there even if their care needs grow over time, which they call continuing care retirement community services, covering independent living, assisted living, memory care, nursing home care, and skilled nursing with rehabilitation, all under one roof. Staff run resident activities, support social and mental health, and even track who would rather have light care, so everyone feels included. Social workers help with paperwork or other needs, and there's guest parking plus bus lines nearby for visitors, with transportation available for residents too.

Saint Ann Assisted Living Center got the Best of Senior Living All Star Award for receiving lots of good reviews and another Best of Senior Living Award for care and support across many types of senior living. Folks say the staff are friendly and helpful, and the community tries to keep a welcoming, joyful atmosphere. Smoking is allowed but only in certain outdoor spots, and there's always someone awake at night in case anyone needs something. Residents can take part in devotional activities or use the amenities, like the high-speed internet, salon, library, or gardens, so there's always a way to keep busy or relax. Meals, care, activities, and support for daily living are all included, and the facility is part of Care Network of St. Ann, so it's well connected for health and comfort as people age.
