    Rude staff unsafe negligent care

I had a terrible experience. Staff were rude and hostile - they escorted me out for taking photos, insulted my mother, ignored stolen belongings and assaults, and nursing care was negligent (toe turned black, a patient later died). The facility is chronically understaffed with awful communication (calls unanswered, complaints to compliance/HR ignored) and management seemed to cover things up. A few hardworking caregivers and the grounds (lots of trees, parking) were nice, but overall it felt unsafe - do not send your loved ones.

    Summary review

Overall sentiment across the reviews is mixed but leans strongly negative. A substantial number of reviewers describe serious problems involving resident safety, quality of nursing care, management behavior, and communication. Those negative reports dominate the narrative: allegations of abuse, neglect, cover-ups, poor clinical outcomes, and unresponsiveness from management and corporate oversight are recurrent themes. At the same time, a minority of reviewers offer positive accounts of individual caregivers and certain transitions (for example, assistance moving to assisted living and improvements in medication management), indicating variable experiences that can depend heavily on which staff are on duty.

Care quality and resident safety are the most frequently cited concerns. Multiple reviews allege poor nursing care, worsening medical conditions (including reports of infections, injuries, toes turning black, and at least one reported death), and instances where residents were physically harmed or attacked. Reviewers describe understaffing as a likely contributor to poor outcomes — staff being too busy to respond, long response times, and calls that go unanswered. Several accounts allege that incidents were minimized or covered up by staff or management, and some reviewers report concrete evidence (e.g., photographs) that they say was ignored when complaints were made to the facility or compliance hotlines.

Staff behavior and culture are described inconsistently but include serious accusations. Positive comments praise dedicated, hardworking nurses and aides who treated residents well and helped with transitions and skill development. Conversely, many reviews report rude or hateful interactions, insulting comments directed at residents, alleged inappropriate relationships among staff members, and a hostile or unwelcoming attitude toward families. There are multiple allegations that supervisors and management (including the administrator and director of nursing, per reviewers) failed to perform basic duties such as rounds and failed to appropriately investigate or respond to complaints. One review mentions a staff member being escorted out for taking photos and another mentions a staff member being fired; reviewers interpret these events as examples of punitive or controlling behavior by management.

Communication and administrative response are significant problem areas in the reviews. Families repeatedly report difficulty contacting staff, getting callbacks, or reaching the right person; some reviewers say the compliance hotline produced no meaningful follow-up. Several reviews state that corporate or HR were silent or dismissive after complaints, creating a perception of indifference or systemic cover-up. The absence of a social worker was noted by at least one reviewer, and staffing turnover is described as high, which compounds communication challenges and continuity of care problems.

Facility environment and amenities receive mixed mentions. Some reviewers appreciate the campus grounds, noting plentiful trees, open spaces, and adequate parking. Others describe the facility as unwelcoming, hostile, or even dangerous for residents. There are also allegations of theft of residents' belongings and instances where family members feel escorted or silenced when trying to document concerns.

Patterns and notable concerns: reviewers repeatedly allege (1) understaffing and high turnover that affect care; (2) management failures including not completing rounds and prioritizing incorrectly; (3) poor follow-through on complaints and possible attempts to conceal incidents; and (4) mixed staff performance where some employees are praised for excellence while others are accused of neglect or abusive behavior. The balance of reviews suggests that while excellent caregivers exist at the facility, systemic problems—particularly around staffing levels, management accountability, and communication—create significant risk and distress for residents and their families.

In summary, anyone evaluating this facility should weigh the reported instances of compassionate, effective caregivers against numerous, repeated allegations of neglect, safety issues, poor management response, and communications breakdowns. The reviews point to a facility with inconsistent care quality and serious administrative and safety concerns that have prompted several families to transfer loved ones out. The dominant themes — understaffing, alleged rights violations, unanswered complaints, and claims of cover-ups — are substantial and recurring enough that prospective residents and families should investigate these areas directly (ask about staffing ratios, incident reporting and follow-up, presence of a social worker, and recent regulatory inspections) and conduct in-person visits across different shifts to assess consistency of care.

    About Normandy Nursing Center

Normandy Nursing Center sits on St Charles Rock Rd and runs as a for-profit skilled nursing facility, taking care of seniors who need both short-term rehab after a hospital stay and long-term care for those who can't live on their own due to health needs, and you see they've got 116 certified beds with about 99 residents staying there on an average day. The place employs registered nurses, LPNs, CNAs, therapy aides, and has medical staff like doctors, nurse practitioners, a medical director, and medication pharmacists all working together, and residents get about 2.60 nurse hours per day, though there's a nurse turnover rate of 64.9% which means staff changes are pretty common. The owners are groups like 10 26 Nationwide Tr and Normandy Investments, LLC, with indirect owners Baruch Jeremias and Judah Bienstock, and the facility links up with MGM Healthcare. You'll find all kinds of staff offering help with medication, feeding, nursing care, physical therapy, occupational therapy, speech/language therapy, respiratory therapy, and help with meals, and they even have recreational therapy, nutritional counseling, medical alert devices, and access to inpatient rehabilitation services within the building. Normandy Nursing Center allows both Medicare and Medicaid, and they set up meetings for residents through a council but they don't have a family council for relatives. They don't run as a Continuing Care Retirement Community, but focus on person-centered care, aiming to empower seniors to manage their own recovery whenever possible, and they offer a variety of amenities, activities, and a spacious outdoor area for getting fresh air or a bit of sun. Though the facility keeps systems for infection control and pest control, reports show they've had some issues meeting standards in infection prevention, nutrition and dietary care, resident rights, and pest management, which have been flagged in inspection reports. Their mission, vision, and values are listed on their website, alongside a calendar for educational workshops and CNA or insulin training courses for staff, plus resources for advocacy and regulatory information, and the care finder tool helps with locating services, and they keep a board of directors as well as a licensed administrator named Laura Wunder. All in all, Normandy Nursing Center supports both frail and recovering seniors with a directory of therapy, care, and medical provider services, using a mix of registered and licensed staff for daily healthcare and rehabilitation, and keeps a focus on health, safety, and resident rights.
