The Grande at Laumeier Park sits on Rott Road in St. Louis, near Laumeier Sculpture Park, so you get nice views, landscaped grounds, and good spots for walking. Residents choose from studio, one-bedroom, or two-bedroom apartments, all with private baths, kitchenettes with full-size refrigerators and freezers, individual thermostats, and modern, open designs. The community focuses on assisted living, memory care, and respite care, and has dementia-trained caregivers who create personalized wellness plans and help with medication management, bathing, dressing, meals, and daily tasks while promoting independence. Memory care programs follow the Lilac Trace philosophy, which respects each person's history and focuses on helping residents with Alzheimer's or Parkinson's-related dementia using a person-centered approach, regular check-ins, and activities that encourage a more active lifestyle. The Grande at Laumeier Park has features like daily housekeeping, laundry, fitness centers, a swimming pool, social spaces, indoor and outdoor common areas, beautiful gardens, and an onsite beauty salon, so residents can stay clean and enjoy themselves without extra hassle. Nutritional meals-vegetarian and kosher options included-come from a chef, served in a bright dining room, with special care for dietary needs, and there are devotional services both onsite and offsite for those who want them. The community offers regular wellness monitoring, physical, occupational, and speech therapy on-site, plus visits from doctors, nurse practitioners, podiatrists, dentists, and access to an in-house pharmacy, aiming to cover all of a resident's health and wellness needs. For people with short-term needs or families who need extra help, respite care is available for recovery or caregiver relief. Social, educational, and entertainment activities are organized throughout the week, from clubs and classes inside to community outings for shopping, eating out, or trips to local casinos, and there's always transportation and parking available for residents. The staff helps with daily living but also encourages residents to take part in purposeful wellness programs, social events, and special programs through Lifestyle Plus, making it easy for people to connect and explore their interests or hobbies. Safety stays a priority, with secure buildings, wheelchair-accessible showers, full tubs, and hospice care provided when needed. The Grande at Laumeier Park keeps things simple and supportive, with a resident portal and technology included to keep everyone connected, and staff remain accessible, professional, and focused on personal choices and a welcoming, homelike setting.

Gorgeous grounds, caring staff, unsafe
I love the beautiful grounds and many staff were compassionate, helpful, and made move-in smooth - the food and activities can be good and some caregivers go above and beyond. But chronic understaffing, high turnover, and weak leadership created inconsistent, sometimes unsafe care: slow/no responses to calls, missed meds/meals, unclean rooms, poor memory-care, and billing/communication problems. Bottom line: gorgeous facility and some excellent people, but I would be cautious for anyone with higher or dementia care needs.
