    Warm compassionate family-run Alzheimer care

I chose this small family-run home for my mom and couldn't be happier. Fred, Larissa, and their compassionate, attentive staff provided personalized, non-institutional care - clean, odor-free rooms with private baths, home-cooked tasty meals, attentive Alzheimer's supervision, and even space for her cat. The peaceful farm setting, excellent communication, and truly loving, responsive team made her safe and comfortable; they supported us through her passing. Great value - I highly recommend this warm, family-like place.

    Summary review

Overall sentiment across the reviews is strongly positive. Reviewers repeatedly highlight compassionate, attentive staff and a family-run atmosphere that produces highly personalized care. Staff are described as kind, patient, knowledgeable, responsive, and able to form close, trusting relationships with residents. Multiple reviews single out the owners/managers (named Fred and Larrisa) as engaged, caring, and central to the facility’s culture. The facility is frequently characterized as feeling like a home rather than an institution, with many reviewers explicitly praising the individualized attention and one-on-one care residents receive.

The physical setting and facilities are a consistent strength. The Good Samaritan Assisted Living Facility is described as a clean, odor-free home in a peaceful country/farm setting with pleasant outdoor spaces, a front porch, and opportunities for wildlife viewing. Several reviewers appreciate pet accommodations—specifically that there is room for a resident’s cat—and other homely touches (for example, references to flower pots and a non-institutional atmosphere). Rooms are described as comfortable and appropriately sized, and many reviews mention private rooms with private baths and a secure environment.

Dining and daily living features are emphasized positively across reviews. Reviewers commonly praise homemade, scratch-cooked meals that are tasty and generous in portion size, with snacks available. Meals are described as a highlight—many say the food is fantastic and comforting, resembling home-cooked fare. The facility’s family-style approach to dining and care extends into social life; reviewers note plans for social activities (for example, a barbecue once COVID restrictions ease) and appreciate the welcoming environment for visitors.

Care quality and special-needs supervision are recurring themes. Multiple summaries mention attentive supervision for residents with Alzheimer’s or dementia and describe staff as capable and reassuring about residents’ care plans. Several reviewers specifically credit the team with compassionate support during difficult times, including end-of-life care and bereavement support. This reinforces the pattern that the facility places strong emphasis on dignity, individualized care plans, and emotional support for both residents and families.

There are some recurring caveats to consider. A few reviews note that the facility is small or just starting, which most reviewers frame as a benefit for personalized attention but which could imply limited capacity or fewer on-site resources compared with larger, institutional facilities. One reviewer mentioned being initially unimpressed during the paperwork/administrative process, though that impression changed after experiencing day-to-day care. Several reviewers also mention the facility is located farther away, which may be a constraint for some families. COVID-related restrictions were noted as having limited activities at one point, although reviewers referenced plans to resume social events like a barbecue.

In summary, the reviews paint Good Samaritan Assisted Living as a small, family-run, value-oriented assisted living option with a strong emphasis on compassionate, individualized care in a clean, home-like farm setting. Its major strengths are the caring staff and owners, personalized attention, pet-friendly policies, and outstanding home-cooked meals. Potential drawbacks are primarily related to its small size and location rather than quality of care—families who need proximity to urban services or broader institutional resources should weigh those factors. For families seeking a warm, faith-friendly, home-style assisted living environment with attentive staff and strong personal support, these reviews recommend Good Samaritan highly.

About The Good Samaritan Assisted Living Facility

The Good Samaritan Assisted Living Facility sits in a quiet, country spot off Highway 39, surrounded by tall, mature trees, and it's got a warm, homey feel about it, especially with cozy fireplaces and outdoor spaces where residents can relax or even keep their pets, and while it's small, that means the staff spend more one-on-one time with each person, showing patience, kindness, and genuine care, like a family's supposed to. The staff keep the place clean and odor-free, serving homemade meals every day made from scratch, including options for special diets like gluten-free, vegetarian, vegan, kosher, allergy-sensitive, or diabetic meals, with room service if residents need it, and there's all-day dining so everyone can eat on their own schedule. Folks get to bring in and decorate their rooms with their own things-those rooms have air conditioning, private baths, full kitchens, even cable and WiFi, plus some are in separate cottages or bungalows, which keeps things cozy and private, and everything's wheelchair accessible, with walk-in showers if someone needs that.

The care is steady, round the clock, and the team helps out with bathing, dressing, medicine, or moving around, plus they're happy to support those who use walkers or wheelchairs, and they even have memory care and high acuity nursing for those who need more help, including for Alzheimer's and dementia, and the building's secure too. There's laundry and housekeeping, move-in help, and transportation if someone needs to get to a doctor or around town, along with parking for guests and haircuts right there at the facility, and if someone likes quiet, they can sit out in the garden or walk along the paths under the trees, and if they want to socialize, there are community events, scheduled happy hours, game nights, art classes, cooking clubs, musical groups, and chances for folks to garden or even taste wine now and then. The home welcomes both cats and dogs, and it's arranged so every resident can enjoy their own space without feeling crowded, and families who visit say it's got a loving, calm atmosphere, with every staff member bringing comfort and respect to the job.

Being Christian-based, the home has devotional activities on site and sometimes brings in chaplains or priests, but everyone's welcome, and there is a real focus on treating all residents with dignity and keeping things peaceful and gentle. The facility offers assisted and independent living, skilled nursing, respite care, board and care home services, and memory care, meaning residents can stay as their needs change, and nurses and staff work closely with doctors and other providers to keep up with everyone's health. There are group meals in a community dining room, indoor common areas for chatting, common area TVs, and even educational talks and wellness programs for those who like to stay active mentally and physically, so nobody has to feel isolated or bored. Residents get a lot of options when it comes to choosing their room-they're all furnished, semi-private if preferred, and decorated to make it feel like home, and it all sits in a safe, pretty spot, not far from local towns but far enough to keep things restful. The Good Samaritan Assisted Living Facility aims to make sure everyone there feels at home, well cared for, and part of a real, welcoming community.
