    Caring staff, inconsistent medical care

I moved my mom here and loved the caring, long-tenured staff, clean/home-like building, varied activities, and responsive owners - everyone treated residents like family. That said, nursing and doctor coverage was inconsistent, call buttons/pagers were sometimes unanswered, and we experienced serious lapses (medication/assistance errors, a prolonged hot-water outage and hospitalizations). Management can be slow or defensive about problems, rooms are small and there are extra fees; food and pet policies were hit-or-miss. Overall it's great for social, low-to-moderate care needs, but I would not recommend it for advanced dementia or complex medical cases without confirming clinical coverage.

    About Ravenna Assisted Living

Ravenna Assisted Living sits on Twin Oaks Drive in Albuquerque and has been open since 2008, and the building is a single-story Mediterranean-style place with high ceilings and big windows that really let in the sunlight, and you'll see that the rooms-both private and shared-have those big views and lots of natural light, so whether someone wants more privacy or wants a companion room, there are choices. Folks will find furnished rooms ready when they come in, and the staff helps with move-in coordination to make the change smoother. The staff, called caregivers, stay on-site day and night and help with things like bathing, dressing, grooming, toileting, eating, and taking medicine, and they're certified for medication administration with help from Vida Pharmacy, so people get what they need the way they're supposed to, and 24-hour security and a Wander Guard system for people who might get confused or wander are in place to keep everyone safe. There's weekly housekeeping and laundry service at no extra charge, and meals are prepared and served every day in the dining area, with fresh choices for people with allergies, diabetes, kosher, or vegetarian needs.

Community spaces at Ravenna include a big main dining room, activity rooms, indoor and outdoor common places, and even an in-house salon, so there's a space for eating together, doing crafts or games, or sitting with visitors. Staff will help with daily grooming, and there are planned religious, social, educational, and entertainment events every week, with arts and crafts sessions run by artists and musicians, fitness classes, exercises, cognitive games, music, and off-site outings or devotional services. Wi-Fi is free across the whole building for anyone who wants to use it. The volunteer program encourages locals and even families to join activities, so folks don't stay alone, and a lot of effort goes into making people feel at home and connected, with a focus on letting people keep their independence while offering the needed help, whether with medication, dressing, or just getting around. For getting to appointments or local activities in Albuquerque, there's transportation coordination, and health consults are available as needed.

Ravenna Assisted Living only offers assisted living at this location, but those services cover a lot, including memory care, long-term nursing care, and support for daily living, so whether someone needs just a bit of help or full-time supervision, caregivers are there. Suite options let people choose what works for them, and there's a lot of encouragement for residents and families to ask questions or visit in person to see what life at Ravenna is really like, with state-certified staff and a close relationship with health care providers. The goal at Ravenna is to make sure people feel comfortable, safe, and part of a community, giving peace of mind to both residents and their families.
