    Small cozy family care home

I placed a family member here and was impressed: small, cozy facility with attentive, caring staff, homemade delicious meals, arts and music, a sunny patio and a warm, family atmosphere - residents always seemed happy. Care and service were very good and I highly recommend it, though activities are limited compared with larger homes. Note: I later heard the owner (Hanif Muhammad) closed the facility and staff lost jobs, so I'd verify current status before deciding.

    Summary review

Overall sentiment in the reviews is predominantly positive around day-to-day care, the staff, and the facility’s intimate, family-like atmosphere. Multiple reviewers emphasize attentive, caring staff and describe residents as well cared for; specific phrases like "outstanding care," "staff very good," and "great service" recur, indicating consistent strength in direct caregiving and personal attention. Several comments note smiling residents and a warm, cozy environment, which supports the idea that the community fosters a comfortable, home-like experience rather than an institutional feel.

On the facility and environment side, reviewers repeatedly highlight the small, cozy scale of Ridgeview Assisted Care and the lack of unpleasant odors, implying good housekeeping and cleanliness. Amenities noted include an outdoor patio and arts and music activities, which some reviewers appreciate as contributing to a pleasant daily life for residents. The homemade daily meals are a frequently mentioned positive: meals are described as homemade and delicious, and food quality appears to be a strong point in most summaries.

However, there are some important negative points and mixed signals to balance the positive impressions. Several reviewers state that there are not many activities — an issue tied to the facility’s small size; while the intimate scale is a positive for personal attention, it appears to limit the breadth and frequency of programming compared with larger facilities. More seriously, at least one reviewer reports a food-safety type complaint referred to as "lizard tacos," which, if accurate, would be a significant concern about kitchen practices. That report stands in contrast to the generally favorable comments about homemade meals, suggesting either an isolated incident or differing perceptions among reviewers.

Management and ownership also appear as a mixed theme. One review calls the owner caring and offers a strong endorsement, while another alleges the owner (named as Hanif Muhammad) closed the doors and left employees without jobs. This is a substantial and potentially actionable allegation that conflicts with other comments praising the owner, indicating inconsistency across the review set. The combination of praise for direct care staff and concerns or negative events attributed to ownership suggests that while front-line caregiving was generally well-regarded, there may have been instability or decisions at the management/ownership level that affected employees and potentially operations.

In summary, the reviews paint Ridgeview Assisted Care as a small, clean, and cozy community with attentive and caring staff, good personal care, a warm family atmosphere, pleasant outdoor space, and generally well-regarded homemade meals. The primary positive themes are staff quality, resident well-being, and a home-like environment. The main concerns to note are a limited activity program due to small size, at least one reported food-safety complaint, and a serious allegation about an abrupt closure or owner action that left employees without jobs. These negative items are less frequently mentioned than the positives but are significant in nature; they suggest the need to verify current management status, any incidents reported, and the scope of activities before making decisions based solely on these reviews.

    About Ridgeview Assisted Care

Ridgeview Assisted Care, at 9215 Layton Avenue NE in Albuquerque, is a licensed assisted living facility owned by Hanif Muhammad, and there's some connection to Lizard Tacos which is a little unusual but interesting to note, and the facility itself can house up to 15 residents in single bedrooms, studio suites, or shared apartments, so it feels small and home-like rather than big and busy, and with such a small group-often just six or seven folks-residents get more attention from staff and usually form close, friendly bonds like a family would, and that seems to matter on quiet days especially. The home helps with daily things like bathing, dressing, going to the bathroom, laundry, and meals, so folks don't have to worry about those chores, and there are trained staff around all the time, day and night, including dementia-trained nurses and an on-site nurse who checks in on health needs, plus there are monthly doctor visits and health checkups to catch any concerns. People who live here get personal services tailored to what they need, whether that's medication reminders, diabetic care, memory care, or help after a hospital stay, and if memory care's needed, there are secure areas to keep residents safe and features like exit monitoring so nobody wanders off, color-coded rooms and special lighting to help with memory confusion, and staff trained to look after folks with dementia or Alzheimer's disease. Ridgeview offers many activities to keep people busy and happy-there are group outings, art classes, BBQs, birthday parties, holiday gatherings, fitness or stretching sessions, games, walking paths, and even a theater room, along with things like yoga, devotional visits from chaplains, and arts and crafts, plus plenty of snacks all day and meals that can be gluten-free, vegan, kosher, low-sodium, or sugar-free for those who need them. Research shows a familiar environment calms folks with memory troubles, and at Ridgeview, the warm living room, pet-friendly policy, and outdoor patios create a relaxed, peaceful space for spending time. Accessibility's also thought of here, with ground floor units, wheelchair-accessible showers, private bathrooms, steady Wi-Fi, cable or satellite TV, and both indoor and outdoor common areas for relaxing or socializing. There's transportation for shopping or appointments, laundry services, and emergency pendants, plus private dining for special occasions. While Ridgeview has upscale amenities at some locations, the real draw to their model seems to be in offering strong support with the basics-simple, reliable help when it's needed most-giving peace of mind to both residents and their families who want a comfortable, less expensive option than full nursing home care. Ridgeview has a license (number 2284), and though they've only had one online review and it wasn't favorable, their focus stays on supporting seniors with Alzheimer's, dementia, or just the regular challenges of growing older. Ridgeview's currently closed, but when it's open, the doors are open weekdays from nine to six, and there's a clear focus on keeping folks cared for with dignity, comfort, and some good home-cooked meals.
